Just read your bit on forgetting words Em. My MiL is the same, and I just ask her to think of something near to it, or describe it. We both laugh at her descriptions. On the phone, telling me what she had for tea. A sandwich with, you know, that green stuff in it. What, lettuce, No. Cucumber. No, little bits of green stuff. I know, she says, its cress, cress - I haven't had it for ages. I know it sounds long winded, but it does help her, and we both have a good laugh in the process. Especially as sometimes I know what she's describing, but have forgotten the name myself. Talk about the blind leading the blind.....

Christine.....I do a similar thing when typing my address. When I'm typing Yorkshire, I quite often find I've hit a T instead of the second R! lol

I have probs with spelling due to senior moments ,and, getting my fingers in twist when I'm doing two fingered typing. I have spell checker in the Google bar and If I'm doing a long speel then i get the spell checker to give it the once over. But does it really matter?? we are what we are & people can take it or leave it as far as I'm concerned. I,m afraid if i got picked up on my spelling then they would get short shift.after all they dont know if I,ve got a problem of some sort Shirley

I am sure you are all right... thank you for this... We do indeed tend to go a little to fast when typing out the words on a keyboard... and very often are a little careless in how we type... yes, that probably does attribute to my spelling disasters... lol Its this blooming memory block i keep getting when i need to use a certain word... and it gets lost behind a fog in my brain... its so annoying... normally i then quickly find another word with the same meaning, but lately i have struggled to even do that... Thing is.... having the job i have ( rubbish english again lol) I Know what the problem is and what the outcome is... oh i wish i had trained as a chef or something..... lol

Hi Em, I have a few friends who tell me when I have spelt something wrongly and I don't mind because I have no excuse for spelling incorrectly and I'm happy for them to do so. There are also a couple of people (the same ones) who I tell if they have made a typo because I know they are as picky as me. But I wouldn't dream of correcting someone who I wasn't on such terms with. I do think we all have an obligation to make our posts as understandable as possible, if only to avoid confusion and people getting uptight when there is no need. However, it is bad manners to pick people up on poor spelling and grammar. Gwynne

Oh yes Em and another thing. I wonder how many people go upstairs for something and forget what they went up for, as I do? and I haven't had an accident (well, apart from my birth that is:))

Em Sorry to hear that you have been made to feel low. I think what you say is much more important than a few minor spelling mistakes. I have noticed that my spelling on here is much worse than in 'normal' life. As I am slow at typing, I'm in such a hurry to keep up with a thread sometimes that spelling just goes 'out of the window'. Gwyn

em, dont you worry about it, I get like that and I havnt had an accident. the person who picked up on was rude, we all make mistakes. I have trouble thinking of what to put down when Im writing something out, we're not all perfect in our thoughts and actions. jean

Em Your message is fine, I don't see any spelling mistakes in it at all! Very few people are particularly good at spelling these days and no-one should be picking you up on an incorrectly spelt word, particularly on a message board such as this. I am quite good at spelling myself but would NEVER try to correct anyone on here. My problem is that I have what I call 'dyslexic fingers'. My fingers type a word with the letters in the wrong order all the time - LOL!! Don't you worry about it, just type what you like. At least you don't use 'text speak' (as I call it). Regards Lynne

Em, No we wont laugh, even quietly because it obviously bothers you. But nobody should pick up spelling errors on here. My best subject was English yet i am often aware, after the event that i make loads of spelling mistakes, mainly because of carelessness and going too fast. I haven't got the results of an accident to blame but I also find myself groping for the right word. i read somewhere that we have these problems partly because the brain has so much to retain and decipher that things get missed (and I can't even think of the word I want here either). But you always come over as a highly intelligent person, any spelling mistakes I put down to speed. You are also obviously a caring person and you are a very popular person on here. So please don't worry, don't even think about it, most of the time we would not even notice. And, as somebody said, we loveyou as you are. Ann Glos

Although I know its easy for me to say, and I can sort of understand the concern... try not to worry about it. My typing is dreadful at times. My spelling a bit iffy too, and as for not being able to remember things... my 'RAM' needs an upgrade I think... the amount of times that I can't think of the right word, or someones name, or who sang a song, or who scored the winner against Liverpool last season... you know, things I should remember... I think that sort of thing happens to us all at times. Paul x
