I was beaten up by my ex because I refused to abort Georgeous. The police took me to hospital for a scan and I spent 2 nights sleeping in my car when a friend took me in. The midwife told me that one third of domestic violence against women begins during pregnancy.

I'm glad she was seen by her Dad Malc.... I was lucky too as I left and he came and found me but his biggest mistake was to attack in front of witnesses.... I proscecuted, he denied but when we went to court he changed his plea!! I can still remember his face when he saw me having a cigarette outside the court flanked by 2 police men and my bro!! It was worth the wait and he would never come near me again as his card has been marked!! gawd just realised that its 10 years ago this month that i walked and never went back!! xx

Malc - good for you!! Gwen - d'ya know.... I always said its not the bruises and pain that destroyed me, it was the words!! Can't say I am free of it as freaked a little a while back cos I thought I saw him in a restaurant. But I do know that no man will ever belittle me like that again!! xx

Thank God this is now taken seriously. It wasn't that many years ago that the Wife was seen as the Husband's property to deal with however he liked and the Police wouldn't get involved. Violent vicious bas**rds will find any excuse and should be locked up. Whatever sex they are.

in the pub where i work there is a little woman who is about 4'9' her husband is a polio sufferer and walks with crutches and she belts him on a regular basis, when someone asked him why he puts up with it he says its because he loves her and wouldnt dream of hitting her back. It must be really embarrasing for him and he is a lovely bloke but all the other men call him a wimp. OH and i have been married for 16 years and we have had some real good rows and both said things aimed at hurting the other but he would never hit me, whenever i get a bit fed up and start wondering if the grass is greener etc. I think of that couple and realize how lucky i am sue c x

or c) the victim withdraws charges as they are scared witless of the outcome and the person getting off with it and the repercussions that will bring!!

Unknown Report 19 Jun 2006 20:19

The biggest problem with domestic violence is that : a) quite often its not witnessed by anyone so is one person's word against another b) because of the emotional ties of the people concerned, it is often true that the victim withdraws allegations in the hope that the perpetrator will change. It's hard for people to break the cycle and escape. nell

I'm sorry I'm watching it and it's blaming football for the agression build up in the monsters that batter women..... excuse me but isn't it more that they are tossers and have DRUNK too much alcohol? A man who will hit a woman on a regular basis doesn't need a REASON, just alcohol normally!! Let's not blame football please!! The increase may be because pubs show the football but its not football's fault!! Malc - they don't show it because its a minority.... but you are right its not just women that suffer!
