So that counts out the first one. Have just double checked on 1837 as it seemed strange they both had the same cert number but it is the same on there too. Mim |

He's just told me he was the baby born 1909 - his eldest brother was born 1897 and Grace must have been in between. Anniex |

haha.. My heads hurting as well Janice... Annie James was married to Charles James Charles James then died Annie James married E John Dunn (and we think Annie James/Dunn is Granny Dunn - and we think that Annie Alice Clark was her neice) Then there is Annie Alice Clark (granddad's mother) married James Clark (I know there's a lot of clarks one way or another) so I wondered how many children they actually had. I don't know if it's all too much but I just can't seem to see them anywhere - not even on the searches you have already done... I'm not very good am i! Annie |

Hi Annie, Sorry, not sure what you are asking me! With James as a surname as well as a Christian name I'm getting confused lol! I found the marriage of Edwin and Annie by trawling the index on Ancestry. I found Charles and Annie James on the 1901 and 1891 censuses. Just about to try and find her on something earlier to see if I can find her maiden name - you said you thought she married twice. Talk to you soon. Janice |

Hi Janice, How will I find the children of James Clark and Annie Alice Clark... I seem to remember I went to the local records office? would it be on line anywhere - it was on a postcard I think in the records office? Is that the best place to go? I want to make sure of all the children now.. as Granddad reckons he had a sister called Grace and he lost touch with her as well.... I would just love to find some decendant for him perhaps that would be able to tell him about his family. Anniex |

OK. Found it. Edwin John Dunn married Annie J James June quarter 1916 Southampton 2c 134 If you buy the cert, you'll get her previous name and her father's name which could link her in with the rest of the family (or not!!) |

by the way Janice, Granddad didn't like Edwin John Dunn - he reckoned he wasted all of Granny Dunns money.... when John Dunn died they came to granddad for the money to bury him - he went to the insurers he says to get the money - but they wouldn't give it to him because he wasn't legally adopted. But I would like to strip Granny Dunn of her married names and find out who she was? Anniex |

Yes Janice he remembers his Uncle.. that's great isn't it! I've got to put something on the board for help with finding his Dad - he says he would love to know what happened to him.... he doesn't realise bless him how much time it all takes... but I do love it - especially as I can ask him still.. He's got all his marbles... Annie thank you x |

wow, I'll just go and ask him... were they his mothers brother or sister is that where they are connected Janice? My head is spinning as there are so many to look up! I thought I would just follow one person slowly but you need lots of info just to piece it all together. I think if we could find out what Granny Annie's maiden name was before she married Edwin J Dunn, (James from previous marriage) and the first marriage - it would shed some light as to what her connection was as well... Just found something I must have extracted last time... 1901 census record It says a Annie James (who granddad thinks was her previous married name) - he said he previous husband work on the railways and it says Railway Locomotive Driver..... It also says there was a granddson called Charles Clark... and he was aged 4 years, so this must be where I got it from.. And, why weren't the children with the mother - the record we found was that she and James Clark were in Northumberland weren't they - they were Music Hall Artists so I suppose they travelled and the other children couldn't go with them or something? And then when granddad was born 1909 - the mother Annie Alice Clark died in 1911 so he never knew his mum... Then I suppose Granny Annie took the children - or granddad over - do you think they would have adopted him properly? But it's making the connection between them? Annie |

Janice, I've got Granny Annie.. died in 1947 and was 86 years old. I haven't got a marriage Cert for Edwin John Dunn and Annie or any details - but it does say his name on her death cert and she was his wife? they were living at Lowlyn (house name), Bridge Road, Bursledon. And, it was my granddfather who was the informant - so he must have been 38 years old I think when she died. Annie x |
