Found Matilda in 1891: Matilda Wright 42 widow Frank son 8 William son 6 **** Jane Doughty MOTHER 70 brushmaker born London **** Henry Wilkins 42 widower boarder Percy Wilkins 6 his son Now we have Matilda's maiden name! In 1901 Matilda and Mum are still together with William aged 16. But, places of birth are not the same as in the 1891!

Mim and Janice, You are really helping me here, I am sat with papers all over the place and I'm just stuck - so I'm going to get a folder for each family (or person?) and then when I'm sure I'll do that and put them in my Fam Tree Maker and genes united one as well... I think that everyone is just doing it all at once and I'm panicking... plus the fact that granddad is 97 and I really want to get something for him. I would love to contact the living out of this and perhaps have a get together... it would be a big thank you to you I would never have done this otherwise.. But I'm going to try and follow your trail to see what you are seeing - because at the moment I can't see anything - I'm just not doing it right, but I'll get there (hopefully). Annie x thank you.

Hi I tend to make notes on each of my families as I go along (have a different folder for each one) then when I am sure I then add to my FTM and GR tree. Mim

What do you guys do then - draw the tree - don't you use a software package? I'm beginning to think it's best just making your own notes once you find out how these things work!

Janice, I remember her before - I think I may have some emails about 2 years ago when you thought there was a connection - but I wasn't sure because she was much further ahead of me so I couldn't confirm it at the time I think. Annie

I've been drawing up a tree and scribbling notes as I've gone along so don't worry about me. Do it if it helps you. However, if you type Thomas Wright born 1875 Southampton into the Quicksearch facility on here, there's a lady called Karen who has entered one. It would be worth contacting her if you haven't already done so in case she's a relative. Janice

Poignant that I should find this today but Thomas Walter Wright died in WW1. The entry is on Commonwealth War Graves site along with family details.

Haven't found Annie yet but in 1881 Charles James, railway fireman aged 25, is living with his parents Thomas and Mary A James, and Charles is a widower. So he must have married Annie Jane between 1881 and 1891 and it was a 2nd marriage for him.

Was Charles Thomas's birth registered in Elham? There's a Grace registered in Elham in 1906. Not sure where Elham is!! There's an Isabel in Southampton in 1900.
