Hi Janice, How will I find the children of James Clark and Annie Alice Clark... I seem to remember I went to the local records office? would it be on line anywhere - it was on a postcard I think in the records office? Is that the best place to go? I want to make sure of all the children now.. as Granddad reckons he had a sister called Grace and he lost touch with her as well.... I would just love to find some decendant for him perhaps that would be able to tell him about his family. Anniex

Hi Annie, Sorry, not sure what you are asking me! With James as a surname as well as a Christian name I'm getting confused lol! I found the marriage of Edwin and Annie by trawling the index on Ancestry. I found Charles and Annie James on the 1901 and 1891 censuses. Just about to try and find her on something earlier to see if I can find her maiden name - you said you thought she married twice. Talk to you soon. Janice

haha.. My heads hurting as well Janice... Annie James was married to Charles James Charles James then died Annie James married E John Dunn (and we think Annie James/Dunn is Granny Dunn - and we think that Annie Alice Clark was her neice) Then there is Annie Alice Clark (granddad's mother) married James Clark (I know there's a lot of clarks one way or another) so I wondered how many children they actually had. I don't know if it's all too much but I just can't seem to see them anywhere - not even on the searches you have already done... I'm not very good am i! Annie

He's just told me he was the baby born 1909 - his eldest brother was born 1897 and Grace must have been in between. Anniex

Annie

Annie Report 12 Nov 2006 21:01

Oh and then there was Isabella Clark in 1901

Mimmi

So that counts out the first one. Have just double checked on 1837 as it seemed strange they both had the same cert number but it is the same on there too. Mim

Was Charles Thomas's birth registered in Elham? There's a Grace registered in Elham in 1906. Not sure where Elham is!! There's an Isabel in Southampton in 1900.

Haven't found Annie yet but in 1881 Charles James, railway fireman aged 25, is living with his parents Thomas and Mary A James, and Charles is a widower. So he must have married Annie Jane between 1881 and 1891 and it was a 2nd marriage for him.

Poignant that I should find this today but Thomas Walter Wright died in WW1. The entry is on Commonwealth War Graves site along with family details.

Janice and Mim, I've got Family Tree Maker 2006 - this has happened all so quickly - should I make a start and put the information into it and then there's an option to publish it to the web then you could see it? Anniex

Janice

Janice Report 12 Nov 2006 22:10

I've been drawing up a tree and scribbling notes as I've gone along so don't worry about me. Do it if it helps you. However, if you type Thomas Wright born 1875 Southampton into the Quicksearch facility on here, there's a lady called Karen who has entered one. It would be worth contacting her if you haven't already done so in case she's a relative. Janice

Janice, I remember her before - I think I may have some emails about 2 years ago when you thought there was a connection - but I wasn't sure because she was much further ahead of me so I couldn't confirm it at the time I think. Annie
