Morning all. I received a late call from dad last night to say he is being discharged today :-D
He suddenly sounded so much brighter than in the afternoon! He has hardly eaten as the food he says is dire. No choice, you just have to accept what they give you! So hes looking forward to a decent meal and a good nights sleep later.
My dad has always been busy and for him to have to stay in bed for 2 days was really hard for him, but never mind he had had a heart attack which nearly finished him off!!
Anyway, such a relief for me to know hes ok and going home.
JG, I so hope your OH gets home today too. Its a constant worry when family are separated from you isn't it.
Heavy frost last night, but sunny and bright and about 1 degree so very cold.
Hoping I have turned a corner today with my chest infection as feeling a little better.
Hope everyone looking in is well and keeping warm

Hello all, another rainy cold day it was bin day for us as well Florence we have to put our bins out the night before as the truck comes to us about 6am . Last night it was pouring down of rain and I got quite wet. Again I got wet bringing it back into the garden again.
OH still not home maybe tomorrow, the walking frames have arrived for him to use so have everything in place here now. Just need OH now. Of course he has to be in the hospital which is the longest journey away from us . Just hope the op proves to be worth it for him.
Hope your dad is recovering well Florence.
Take care all Ginnie

Afternoon all
Havent heard directly from dad but his carer took him some things earlier and said he was being tf to another cardio ward. Hes very tired and has been dozing a lot( Hes very bored lol)
No tv in the room and no papers to read so he is feeling the day long! Im sure he will tel me tonight but his carer said he is doing ok so thats a relief.
JustGinnie, sorry your OH is still in hospital, hope he gets home soon and recovers well.
Ive no appetite and still coughing etc. I'm drinking plenty but am feeling so tired but cant sleep :-S
Oh dear Linda, scotch eggs with beef mince er nooo def not. Cottage pie with pork mince hmmm probably not either lol although i dont eat meat but i can imagine the taste was quite different.
It was a bright, sunny day but very icy and it was bin day! So daughter put them out and then i wrapped up(shes away again) and walked on the grass and slowly dragged them back to base. I needed fresh air and had a thick scarf but crikey it was brrrr. Thought some fresh air in me lungs might have helped but not sure it did. Anyway was glad to get back inside and warm up.
Hope everyone else is well and keeping warm. Had a nice surprise earlier as the postie bought me 5 late birthday cards.

Doh, I was going to make some scotch eggs this morning, so I went to get the pork mince out of the fridge, only to discover a pack of beef mince. I must have used the pork mince to make the cottage pie on Sunday. I thought that didn’t taste quite right. I have had a lazy morning as I couldn’t do the cooking.
I have just done a Covid test, not because I am ill, it is because we are taking part in the new ONS winter survey. We do a test every month and complete a questionnaire. It is just to be helpful this time, we don’t get a fee as we did before. The test was negative of course.
We have library books to the housebound to deliver this afternoon, but that won’t take long.
I hope that your husband has come home Ginnie nd that your dad is fine Florence

So sorry to hear about your dad Florence, it sounds like he has had good treatment . It is a worry for you of course being so far away. Hope you feel better soon as well.
Such a shame that the other couple who wanted your house didn't put in an offer. You have done all that clearing of furniture getting ready for the move as well . I hope you get some good news soon so you don't lose the house you want.
OH still in hospital , he was due to be discharged this morning but phoned to say he hadn't been but maybe tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Oh dear Florence, what a birthday. Thankfully it sounds like your dad is going to be OK. It is a good job he had his friend with him. Keep yourself warm, it is freezing here as well. I like it when it gets dark so that I can close all of the curtains and make it cosy.
I had to ring the estate agent today for the house we are buying and tell them our chain has collapsed. I thought they were putting their furniture into storage, but it turns out they have had an offer accepted on a house with no onward chain, so they are not going to be happy either. There is nothing we can do until we get another offer :-(

Afternoon all. Thankyou for your kind wishes. I have just spoken with dad and he's ok but not getting any sleep and he is exhausted! Its an emergency 6 bedded cardio ward so lots of machines bleeping all the time. He wont get home before Thursday maybe Friday.
He's not allowed to drive for 4-6 weeks so as you can imagine he's not a happy bunny as he's always busy! But I've told him, he has to take it easy for awhile unless he wants to spend longer in hospital!
Had a few cards in the post today which was lovely to receive and 2 presents. A friend has brought me an Amaryllis bulb to grow myself. Its in a lovely hessian bag which I can reuse afterwards.
Im still coughing away but just have to get on with it as best I can. Keeping warm inside and drinking honey & lemon to help soothe.
It's strange how one minute everything is ok and then 1 tel call can turn your life upside down . Just being so far away and not able to visit him is hard but hopefully he is in safe hands now.,
Going to put on the heating in all the rooms today to keep a constant temperature flowing.
Right off to make a hot drink now.

Morning all What a night!
Last night at 10pm, my dad always tel and on Saturday he had spent the day on a steam train down to Bath. He had a nice day but was a bit out of sorts. He tel me late Saturday eve to tell me all about the trip.
Sunday, all day I had a bad feeling all day that something was going to happen as i get these feelings quite often. At 10pm, the phone rang but it was dad's carer/ friend that he lives with and instantly I knew something was amiss.
Dad was in extreme crushing pain in his chest and was having a heart attack. Ambulance took 45 minutes before it arrived! When he got to A & E, they did an emergency procedure to save his life by inserting a stent!
I got a tel call at 1am explaining what they had done and that he was stable and in the cardiology ward.
There were tears of relief! he told me on Friday, he had been to the coop and paid for his funeral in full!! How ironic is that?
He tel me himself at 8am this morning to reassure me he's ok but will be in for 2-3 days. This is one birthday I won't forget in a hurry!!
I'm not usually on here this early but felt the need to just get all this out of my system as not slept a wink all night worrying and being on my own still felt very alone.
Daughter is back later, so will be glad for that.
Shall be back later.

We woke up this morning to lots of snow. We were supposed to be going to visit my daughter today to go to the outdoor Xmas fair, but it would be silly to drive. The main roads are clear, but the temperature is plummeting again, so they will be very icy. We didn’t buy any meat yesterday as we were having dinner with my daughter. Luckily I bought a pack of mince to use next week, so I will make a cottage pie with that, good old fashioned comfort food

Good afternoon to all.
Another hard frost overnight, very cold, thankfully no snow as yet. The sun is now shining & I can see that some of the frost that the sun can get to is going away, albeit slowly, hoping the temp rises enough to lift the frost altogether. I don't like frosty days.
Sunday roast for us today, hubby fancied it today but he only wants a smallish portion.
Our son was here on Saturday & was busy finishing off a couple of jobs, he broguht me the other 4 planters & I got them painted yesterday, won't manage to plant them up until this frosty cold weather is away.
Son is coming back tomorrow, weather permitting to fit my bath panels that he has made, he has done a lovely job, it's wooden & a sort of panelled look to them, beautifully sanded & painted, however he forgot to make a small space so as to accommodate the pipes that have to go into the edge of the main panel to reach the bath taps, so he has to make an adjustment !
Best go now & make up the YKS pudding batter. Hope everyone is well, do take care if out & about.
Joan.

Morning all. Andysmum, the slot was 1-5pm and then it updated to 4-5pm. We had been trying to get a slot for this week but there were none available until I happened to be looking and suddenly there was a slot for Saturday so I grabbed it.
Normally, if lots are free, I usually grab one for midday but at the moment, there are no slots until the new year unless someone cancels! The slots are like gold dust at this time of year. But I got my frozen turkey so all is well lol
Still putting up horrid stuff and yesterday thought I was on the mend but head is sore today so nope no better. I cant get to the Drs so if I wanted a tel appointment, Id have to wait a week now and even then, GPs don't like prescribing over the phone. So I shall have more honey and lemon and be patient.
Its another crisp, frosty but sunny day and looks very pretty as I think the loch is frozen in the middle. But I'm sure its zero outside and very brrrr so not venturing outside at all.
Hope everyone else is safe and warm today

Florence, don't your Tesco's give you a 1 hour slot? I book a 4 hour flexi-slot and in the morning I get an email giving me a 1 hour slot during which they usually arrive unless they are delayed by unforeseen circumstances, which doesn't happen often, to be fair.

Well Tescos only came at 4.45pm, hate waiting all afternoon! Its -3 degrees here and freezing hard so have the heating on since 3pm.
Just thrown a pizza in the oven as couldn't face a bigger meal. Getting really hacked off with coughing now, its exhausting but it will just go away on its own.
I do now have some lemon juice so will make a honey & lemon drink after tea.
Oh dear Linda, what a carry on. Why didn't the people answer their phone? If they changed their minds, all they had to do was let you know.
Hope you and hubby are keeping warm Joan up there. Hard frost here in the morning but it melted once the sun came up. Its now freezing hard and glad im not a driver!!
Right keep warm all.
Off to check my oven as dont want a burnt pizza lol.

I am sorry that you are still ill Florence, you must be worn out with all the coughing and lack of sleep. It has been hard white frost as well all day here Joan, the warmest it got was minus two degrees.
No sign of the couple who were so desperate to buy the house :-( The estate agent has rung and emailed them but they haven’t replied. The nice couple who came yesterday told the estate agent that they will put an offer in as soon as they get an offer on their house. Fingers crossed one of the viewings they had today comes up trumps.
I went to the supermarket this afternoon and for once OH came , he must have been bored. I have just made lots of soup to fill the freezer up, lentil and bacon, leek and potato and a sweetcorn and leek . I have run the freezers down as we should have been moving soon, but now I will have to restock them

Morning all. Oh Florence, so sorry to hear your are still suffering with the cough, coughs really take it out of you, let's hope you get some respite from it soon.
Another very hard frosty day here, it looks lovely, the garden & the fields look like a sparkly Christmas card, very pretty but it is soooo cold.
I am doing some painting in the kitcken just now, our son was over yesterday to finish off a coupr of jobs in the house for us, he brought with him some more wooden planters that he has made for me, so as I can't get outside I am busy painting them indoors in blue to match the shed, LOL.
I am making Fish & Chips for our teas today, didn't do them yesterday with son coming over, we are looking forward to having them today.
Joan.
