Hahaha that made me chuckle names. Yes it did get a good cut just like my grass but I hadn't had it cut properly for 2 years hence it was way down my back and was too heavy. I'm sure my headaches were connected to the weight.

I'm still missing it round my shoulders and out in the wind today, yikes it was chilly round the neck but at least it wasn't blowing in my face and I could see the plants better!

:-D
Actually, I was quite impressed that I spotted it as I had’t recovered from having drops in my eyes. Sometimes it is not a typo but just bad reading. I was convinced the other week that the grass cutters had cut Florence’s hair - until I re read it. :-D :-D :-D

Oops, bad typing again :-D

The floor was dreadful, black, mouldy and really rotten. Underneath the chipboard is a floating concrete floor with a blue liner on it and thankfully that was fine. The fitter cut the bad flooring out and was able to patch it with the chipboard OH had. There is going to be a layer of plywood over the whole floor before the vinyl goes down, so it will be fine.

:-D :-D :-D I wondered what a "sick unit" was but didn't like to ask lol

nameslessone Report 13 Jun 2024 13:03

I know you didn’t like the kitchen, but is it that bad - ‘ when the sick unit… ‘ ;-) ;-)

When I do have the cataracts done life will be very difficult until both are done. I will still need fairly strongish glasses so wouldn’t be able to drive until I got new glasses and may have to wait until both are done. At least I’ve got longer to think about it as it has only been three weeks since I was told I had one.

Florence61

Florence61 Report 13 Jun 2024 13:00

names, that is good news for you re driving :-D

What a huge relief all round.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Jun 2024 12:44

That will be a relief for you Names.

The kitchen has been stripped out. The gas which we won’t be using anymore has been capped off and the sockets which are in the wrong place have been taken out. The biggest problem is that when the sick unit was taken out, we saw that the floor underneath is totally rotten, there must have been a leak for a very long time. Luckily the floor is just chip board and OH has some new stuff in the garage which he found in the loft, so hopefully it will repair fairly easily, but we won’t know until it is all ripped out

I’m sitting here waiting for my eyes to return to normal after drops. The consultant says I am really seeing too well to have my cataracts done ( I thought it was only one eye at the moment) - good news is that I am well within driving regs. So the op is put off until I start having real problems.

Florence61 Report 13 Jun 2024 12:08

I have been a complete numpty :-D :-D

I have discovered that the company I ordered some clothes from that were rubbish were not Evans. Evans were taken over and are now Simply Curves not Curvedreams!!!!

I discovered this when I decided to have another look and see what happened to Evans and then all became clear. I had clicked on a different company below what came up so that explains all.

Oh my goodness, I def need my cataracts doing sooner than later as obviously struggling to read things properly.

But at least I have solved a problem and actually may well look at Simply Curves aka Evans and see what they have,

I have dusted and polished everything today all looks sparkling. So now sitting with a cuppa before hoovering round. Washing is out and should be dry soon as rain has held off thankfully but very very windy still.

Florence61 Report 13 Jun 2024 10:26

Morning all

Better start to my day as I have found my new hoover is in the North West delivery(probably Inverness) so should be with me tomorrow....yay :-D

As for the clothes that came from Curvedreams, they sent another email trying to wriggle out of refunding me and sending a returns label. offering me 40% and keep the items or a gift card for £130!

Er I replied saying why would I want to keep the clothes that dont fit, are awful etc and no ty I don't want a gift card, just a refund.

I wait with baited breath!

Bright enough day but windy again and not sure if rain is on the way.

Tesco coming 4-5pm which is late in the day but I can get on with things during the day now I know when they are coming..

Hope you kitchen fitting is going well Linda.

Sheila, had forgotten brands like Gap, Lands End so may revisit them ty.

But if you are charged when you order and have to pay returns, then that puts me off as makes it so expensive.

I quite like Seasalt, they seem to do a bigger range now, and more colours. I can't wear 'earthy' tones so was pleased to see more reds, blues etc. this year. Gap is still trading online, good for tops etc. and they seem to have a wider range this year. Next does sell lots of different brands, as does Debenhams and M & S. I've shopped with Lands End in the past, however I don't think their returns are free.

I found it easier to find clothes after I lost all my weight. Before that, I used to be in despair, going round the shops with plenty of money to spend, but totally unable to find anything to fit which I liked.

We were up early this morning because the kitchen fitter said he would be here at 8.15, of course he was half an hour late, but at least arrived and is happily dismantling the old kitchen.

Florence61 Report 12 Jun 2024 21:29

Its not a problem sending things back really as we have a post office in the village and daughter goes to town most days.

My problem is finding clothes I like whether that be online or in an actual shop!

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Jun 2024 18:57

I can’t be bothered with ordering clothes on line and having to send them back when they don’t fit, or I don’t like them. If I can’t try them on in a shop, then I don’t bother. I am lucky enough to live in an area where there are lots of shops, so it isn’t a problem. It must be really difficult for you Florence living in such a remote spot.

Hope you like your purchase when the arrive Florence.

Florence61 Report 12 Jun 2024 16:59

Well I finally ordered 2 tops, a pair of trousers and a dress from Klass. Got some good deals as was in the sale. Fingers crossed I like them and they fit ok.

Shall let you know once they arrive.

I looked on Seasalt but nothing really caught my eye there..

Weirdfish, I have seen before but yes are quite pricey but had some nice things.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 12 Jun 2024 15:40

Linda I have always like the Anna rose clothes from Klass, but this year I don't like the styles or the materials at all so have not bought anything from them. Daughter likes Seasalt but I have not looked in their shops yet. I do quite like Weird fish and Fat boy but these are not cheap.

Yes I meant fat face!!

nameslessone Report 12 Jun 2024 15:32

Sea salt is quite expensive when compared to the others mentioned ( apa rt from M&S). If you like Seasalt have you tried Woolovers - similar pricing.

Just looked at the cotton traders brochure which is next to me - they give the lengths of their tops as well as the trousers.

I’ve heard that Marks have amalgamated their petite and short range and that the crutch length in their trousers has shortened. Their short length trousers were a perfect size - it used to be only the waist size that was a problem ;-)

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Jun 2024 15:13

I have bought a fair bit from Klass over the years, it is very like Roman, but recently I haven’t liked the styles. I buy lots of things from. Seasalt these days, they can be a bit pricey, but they often have discount offers and sales. I like their tunics to go with trousers. My problem apart from being tall is that I am very long waisted, so any dress which has a waist in it is no good for me. The waist is high around my ribs which looks odd, but is also very uncomfortable. I need flared or shift dresses , so I can usually find something in Seasalt

Well, the kitchen was supposed to be started this morning, but of course they rang to put it back a day :-(. We have emptied the whole kitchen, so are camping in the dining room with the microwave, kettle and toaster. We will have to wash up in the bathroom until they get the dishwasher in its new place.
We decided to go out for lunch , so went to a very nice garden centre which has a very posh food hall attached to it as well as the restaurant. I managed to pick up two ready meals which were reduced to a very low price, so I was pleased with that. I have been stockpiling my own home made meals in the freezer, so I can just microwave them as I don’t know how long it will be before we get the new hob and oven working. Quite a while I think as after stripping the kitchen out, they need to do cap the gas off, then do all the new plumbing and electrics before they even start to put the new kitchen in.
