Welcome Susan and Gill.Dont think I have seen either of your names before.
Just started this thread this week and it's great to see lots of people popping in and out.
Feel free to share anything of interest or humerus to make someone smile.

Our snow did melt this afternoon in the sun,but there is a blizzard just now and my heating has been on all day.
I hope Susan you get your boiler installed soon.
Keep warm and stay safe.

We've just had a blizzard, it was like a pillow fight out there :-0
More is forecast, I don't think anyone will be tin tray sledging though.

Susan, welcome, I'm under a blanket on the sofa :-(

Gillx Report 6 Apr 2021 16:48

All this snow and we haven't had any. Mind you OH's not complaining with having to take the rubbish to the tip. It's still windy though and very cold.

I see you live in Somerset Susan, I live on the Wirral so about the middle of the country. I thought with all the snow everyone's talking about you all lived further up North than me. You're not on your own with the cold though. I'm having to use blankets to keep warm as we don't have any central heating or hot water as there's no gas metre here. We only moved here about six weeks ago so are looking forward to the gas metre going in this week so we can have a boiler installed. I bet we end up with a heatwave then :-D :-D :-D :-D

We've just had another snow shower.
What a contrast to a week ago - when I was too poorly to enjoy it :-|

Strange weather here 7 degrees but the wind is bitter so makes it feel a lot colder. One minute we have a snow shower, almost a blizzard then it stops and the sun comes out. Not gardening weather but no snow on the ground so far thank goodness.

Trying to do my Tesco shop for Saturday. I think I will have to come back to it as a lot seems to be out of stock, I guess they were wiped out over Easter and no deliveries yet.

Afternoon lovely people, it is very cold today when the clouds cover the sun but the wind is blowing the clouds away quickly so it is bright most of the time.
Just been on a short bus ride to the shops for fresh veg & fruit etc. it was quiet out so we were in and out of the shop and back home, now having a cup of tea.

The garden is looking bright now the daffs and other spring flowers are out , e have full sun in the front garden but not in the back so everything is a little later out there .

Hope you all stay warm and safe. :-D

No sign of snow and hail for us Ann it has been wall to wall sunshine from the start. There are a few clouds now but nothing to write home about :-D

What a lovely idea having this thread Florence. Cold and very windy here so no plans for me to go anywhere today. Thankfully we haven't had any snow which is good as OH is busy taking garden rubbish to the tip after we took a massive hedge out of the middle of our back garden. We've just moved here and the back garden is so badly overgrown we don't know how big it is yet. It backs onto fields, so is quite a windy plot.

Morning all we have been out for fresh fruit and veg and then I have cut both lawns ready for the garden bin collection tomorrow. Blue sky and sun here but that wind is really vicious.

Good morning all.
Well after yesterdays dusting of snow, I woke up to a complete whiteout!! The road is passable in tracks but garden is completely covered and its freezing.

I heard it on the window about 1am together with a howling wind so like you Joan didnt get much sleep.

So 2 loads of washing done after stripping beds and now drying them off in the tumble drier. This afternoon i shall be busy ironing as i hate to leave a pile of it for days.
Got a Tesco delivery coming later 5-9pm grrr hate the later deliveries but if its the only slot you can get, one has to take it and i am not driving in this weather!

Dermot, the contents of your shed sound interesting. is it an "Aladdins Cave?" Do tell what's lurking in there.. :-D

Maggie. Im so glad you cats have settled in your new home & surroundings. For them to be out more than usual is great and especially at their age. Some cats when you move are scared to go out in unfamiliar surroundings but yours seem very settled.

Just noticing, the snow is starting again now and because of the weather ,no ferries again but we have enough, we wont starve.

Well thats me coffee break over lol better get back to the chores.

Have a good day everybody. May be back later on.

Good morning. The sun is shining and it looks lovely outside. ThenI asked google about the weather and was told it is two degrees, but feels like minus four because off the wind. I will be wrapped up well when I venture out for my walk in a while

George (other cat) spent last summer up a tree!
Now we've moved, I think he's found another suitable tree in the neighbourhood - and there are quite a few to choose from.
Not bad for a cat who will be 15 on July 1st.

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 5 Apr 2021 22:22

No snow here, lovely sunshine, but it was freezing outside.
I think it's going to be a really cold night - Betty (cat) is inside!
Sister brought her jig-saw up on Saturday, and cut a hole in the door for a cat flap.
Unfortunately, it's a bit wonky, and needs some work, which I only realised yesterday.
As it is a religious holiday for some, I didn't attack it with a drill, so still just have a hole in the door!
The cats love it! Betty has only been in to eat. otherwise, she spends her time on the garden table, or, if it gets chilly, in the pile of overgrown box hedging I hacked down 2 months ago.
She's in now - it must be cold!
