Hello to all.
Sorry to hear you are still not fully recovered Florence, let's hope the cough clears up soon, coughs can be so debilitating, (sp).

We have had a nice weekend weatherwise, yesterday though being warmer than today. It was sunny both days but it was windy today.

Our eldest son came over yesterday to have another go at sorting through all the rubbish in the garage & old steading, in other words his dads hoard of things that were supposed to come in handy one day, but has had them many years, LOL.

Our son found amongst many useless items lots of empty containers, bottles, jars, old hand wiping rags, the list is endless, anything we could burn got put on the bonfire along with some tree branches & old wood, just a small fire but it got rid of so much.

Son just has to sort through all the old cardboard boxes & various old tools now, but that's for another day.

I spent have the weekend painting both sheds, the Potting shed & a small tool shed, & I have to say I am pleased with the colour, Forget-me-Not, looks lovely even with just the 1st coat, should look even better when they get a 2nd coat on.

Hubby is not too bad just now, though he has developed a pressure sore, all the sitting, on Friday he was provided with a rather nice cushion to sit on & he tells me it is very comfy.

Well duty calls, it's cuppa time for hubby.

Joan.

Afternoon all.
Not such a nice day and dull and overcast compared to yesterday. Had the windows open but felt after 10 mins, it was rather chilly so have closed them all.

We got 3rd in the national and won £3.40 lol, it might buy a coffee :-D

Hope the litter pick goes well Linda...a tv? Oh my, hard to believe what people dump thesedays and in the wrong places!

i managed a shower although my left lower back is painful near my kidneys, washed hair and sort of look a bit more human! However, not feeling good at all and temp going up at 38.3. Daughter did 2 tests and both positive so we are still in the thick of it.

Didnt get my blood test back so shall tel 1st thing tom and tell them about my temp, im coughing up horrible stuff too.

I was going to strip my bed and wash at 60 degrees but ive no energy just now so sitting down.

Joan, if you are looking in, hope all is ok with you and hubby.
JG, hope you are rid of the shingles now and feeling better

Anyone else looking in, hope you are having a lovely Sunday

Thank you Florence, I did have more luck of sorts last night. I have a weekly sub in the Oxford lottery. It is just to support a small charity called Jacari which my daughter in law works for. They get a small percentage of the weekly ticket price. Apparently I got two numbers on Saturday, so that gets me an extra three tickets in next weeks draw. So that is two Saturdays in a row, fingers crossed for third time lucky.

I managed to get my plant re posted yesterday. It is a Oxalis triangularis which is actually small bulbs which came from my sister many years ago. It dies die back in winter, but has usually picked up before now. I have it in a white pot and with the red leaves it is a very distinctive plant. I must have had it since the 1990’s so will be sad if it dies off. I suppose the bulbs must give up at some stage.

It is a lovely day today, we have the monthly town litter pick this afternoon. OH just popped out to pick up a tv which had been dumped on the country lane we had cleared a few weeks ago. We can take it to the central collection point this afternoon

LindainHerriotCountry Report 15 Apr 2023 13:56

I got very excited last week because I had an email to say my lottery ticket had won a prize last Saturday. I just have one ticket each Saturday. It was a massive £68, better than nothing I suppose.

My daughters buyers have had another offer on their flat, a bit lower than before, so hopefully the sake might be back on. Their estate agent is trying to find out if these new people are in a position to proceed quickly. Fingers crossed they are.

It is a lovely sunny day here. I want to repot one of my houseplants, but getting to the bag of compost is difficult as lots of other things have been stacked where the bag is

Good afternoon peeps.
It is a glorious sunny day here with a slight chill in the wind. Daughter and I are still positive and full of high temp and croaky coughs but, we ventured outside into the garden for 10 minutes to try and get some fresh air and blow away the germs!

My roses are doing rather well and the fuchsias are coming along too.

I ordered compost and 4 large tubs last week, so hoping maybe mid week we may feel well enough to reorganise the smaller pots. Its looking very warm from Thursday onwards and no wind 15 degrees and sunny so thats great to look forward to.

Placed a couple of small bets on 3 horses in the national today, so you never know, may get lucky! I won £60 on the hotpicks in the lottery last week which was fab too.

Hope the sun is shining wherever you all are :-D

I am glad that you are both picking up Florence, don’t overdo tbe ironing. If you aren’t going out anywhere, no one will see if you are a bit crumpled :-D

We have just been playing out in the garden, but Esme is tired after trampolining, so has gone for a lie down to watch her iPad. That means I get a bit of respite as well. Her mum has been away over night, but is due back this afternoon, so that will take some of the pressure off me as well

Morning to all looking in today.
Well daughter and I are feeling a bit better as temp fits have stopped thank goodness but we both took a test today and both are still positive.

Its the coughing that is the problem. It hurts the ribs and back and is a very croaky cough. Hopefully by the weekend it will improve.

I have lost 5 lbs now in weight and daughter too...but not complaining :-D

No appetitive really, just living on little bit, crumpets, an apple, a yoghurt and plenty
water. Certainly not ready for any proper meals.

Going to try and do some ironing for a little while as its building up but shall not overdo it.

Hope everyone else is keeping well and ok.

Hi Linda.
Nope both daughter & i were so careful because i had heart surgery on5th April(i think or the 4th) in 2020 just as went into lockdown.
So when I returned from the hospital in Glasgow, nobody was allowed out so that kept me clear of victors for months which was good.

My health then took other turns and again, I stayed indoors without visitors. I had to give up driving in 2021 jul so since then have more or less been confined to barracks with the exception of a couple of trips to town with a friend.

So for 3 years, we escaped but it got us in the end! Daughter has had 5 jags and I had 3.

You sound like you had a very long and tiring day. I guess you could have done without the art preview but understand why you felt the need to go!

Hope you are enjoying a nice cuppa with your feet up

Oh dear, I am sorry that you have Covid Florence. Have you had it before?

My son and his wife had it a few weeks ago and they were both really ill for a week. They had managed to avoid it since the start of the outbreak, but it caught up with them in the end despite being fully vaccinated

I have had a busy day today. I went to get my haircut which involves a thirty minute drive north, I took Eve with me and from there we drove straight to York, which involves passing more or less by home again and thirty minutes south :-(
One of her best friends from when she lived in London was staying in Leeds at her grandparents for Easter, so her mum brought the friend and her brother on the train to York. We met up and spent the afternoon in the Castle Museum which is very good for children. They were very interested in everything and completed all of the children’s trails. I was very tired by the time we got back, but I had to go straight out again to an art preview in the local arts centre. My next door neighbour was exhibiting some of her stuff, so I felt I had to go. I am very glad to be back now as my feet are aching

Yes AnnG, i was going to wait until the weekend if i'm feeling better then and retest. Tonight, i'm feverish again and very thirsty so still full of it.

Concentration is poor to so i have just been dipping on & off here for a distraction in short bursts but not able to read a book.

Florence some people seem to test negative after five days, with me it was ten days so it is not the same for everyone. Maybe test again when your temp goes down and your cough eases.

Florence61 Report 11 Apr 2023 13:11

Well I guess it was inevitable...daughter was feeling out of sorts yesterday but today tested positive for Covid.

In one way it means as we live together its easier to deal with but she is a type 1 diabetic and hasnt eaten today as has no appetite.

my coughing is awful and being sick on just fluid is dire. managed a crumpet yesterday but so far the thought of food is nauseating. Have been drinking iced water as much as i can.

My brother tel to say they are all negative and fine so i am pleased for that. Their saving grace was that on saturday, they were packing all day and only came for the meal from 5-7,30. They were not here on Sunday when i started coughing so maybe that saved them.

i dont know how long these symptoms last as right now Im feeling so awful, I cant see me feeling better for several days yet.

How long before you are really clear and when should i re-test? maybe on Friday/saturday?

Oh Florence what bad news for you, take care.

Well after a wet & windy start to the day we now have a blue sky & fluffy clouds, glorious sunshine & almost no wind, so much warmer now, long may it last..

I managed to get outside today & do a bit of tidying up around the flower borders & big tubs, I rescued & picked the Daffies that have been blown about & were bent over & put them into a vase, they look so untidy when they get damaged & loll about, lol.

Earlier I was sat chatting to hubby & watching out of the bedroom window & saw 2 Hares prancing in the field but close to the fencing around our garden, they were having a lovely time.

I have seen several over the past month, even had one in the garden, recently, fortunately they don't touch any of my flowers.

Yesterday I gave the stair carpet a bit of a "shampoo", some Stardrops in warm water & sponged over it without getting it wet !

What a difference today, after hoovering it, I'm really pleased with it.
It is rather old now & would really like a new one, but I can't face the hassle, lol, hence having a go at cleaning it up a bit !.
It has turned out better then I thought it would & with not too much effort.

I hope it's nice where you are, have a nice day.
.
Joan.

Sorry to read that you have had a positive test, Florence.
What a shame after spending some happy times with your family.

Not sure what arrangements there are in Scotland, but in England, some vulnerable people can get special medication if they have a positive covid test.
Your surgery would know, I expect.

Hope daughter stays symptom-free and that you feel a lot better soon.
Take care.

Morning all
Well the nurse came to do a full set of bloods and an ECG. All went ok until she told me my temp wass up at 37.5!
I know I caught a chill but yesterday and today, i have been coughing something awful and have been sick with the coughing. My whole body aches and i havent felt like this in years.

The bloods will show infection markers , if any raised white cells etc but will have to wait until Wed as its a bank holiday today.

So Im just drinking lots of water and eating nothing as no appetite.

JG, glad you are getting over the shingles now, horrid to have it.

Im going off to do a Covid test, just for peace of mind. We didnt mix closely with anyone as was out on beaches and open spaces etc but you never know.

Pleased you had a lovely time with your family Florence , it's always hard when it's time for them to leave. Hope your cold goes away quickly.

Linda I hope your granddaughter gets good results from the tests.

Sorry to hear that your OH is poorly with the angina as well as other issues.
We had the opposite problem as our bathroom is downstairs which was never a problem till we got older and needed the loo in the night more. Having mobility issues myself it was hard to get up and go downstairs so we gave up a small part of our room and had a toilet and basin put in . We had to have a Saniflo system as we had no water pipes upstairs at all. Cost us more but it has been so useful I wish we had done it sooner.

Feeling better now as the Shingles have almost gone although I still feel some sharp pains but Dr said that can stay for a while but on the whole feel so much better.

No Easter egg hunts here as our G/children are all adults now. Still buy them an egg though. :-)

Have a good weekend.

Ginnie
