afternoon all - gorgeous day here today

feeling a bit jaded - pal rang me before 8:00 this morning asking if I could take her to the GP as she felt too ill to drive herself - so off I set - she lives five miles away - she's been ill for days and turns out she has a very severe water infection - hopefully the meds will kick in quickly

my lovely elderly neighbour whom I've been taking for days out is in hospital - I'm so angry with her daughter with whom she lives - I suggested that as she is unsteady on her feet and walks with a stick she should get one of those walkers - saw them in the local chemist and checked them out - they're about £50 and can be folded up to the size of say, an umbrella. But, when she mentioned it to the daughter the daughter wondered where they could put it - in her large four bedroomed bungalow!!! she would have to check it out and take measurements to see if it could be accommodated - I was flabbergasted. Daughter has stripped her mother of her independence - she doesn't take her anywhere and when she asked the daughter if she could go shopping with her the daughter said "Oh Mum, you know you can't walk around a supermarket". Well in fact she can do it very well as I took her to our large out of town M & S - gave her a shopping trolley and she walked all over the store and said afterwards that she felt much more confident and slept so well that night. She has plenty of money but doesn't have access to it as the son handles her financial affairs - I'm absolutely livid - had she had a walker it's likely she would not have fallen over in the house. End of rant
