MAE HEN WLAD FY NHADAU- THE WELSH NATIONAL ANTHEM

ALL 3 VERSES

Verse 1.

Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi,
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri; Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mad,
Dros ryddid collasant eu gwaed

Cytgan/ Chorus Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad.
Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau.

LITERAL TRANSLATION:
The old land of my fathers is dear to me. Land of bards (poets) and singers, famous men of renown; Her brave warriors, patriots, For freedom shed their blood.

Chorus: Country, Country, (HOMELAND conveys the sentiment more accurately) I am true to my country. While the sea is a wall to the pure, most loved land,
O may the old language endure.


While most Welsh People know their anthem as written above, there are actually 2 more verses as follows:

Verse 2:

THE ABOVE PLAYERS WERE THE TEAM THAT BEAT IRELAND by 22 TO 10 IN THE QUARTER FINALS IN THE RUGBY WORLD CUP 2011.

Many of these are playing today ....Captain SAM WARBURTON, GEORGE NORTH, JAMIE ROBERTS, TAULUPE (Toby) FALETAU, DAN LYDIATE, ALUN-WYN JONES, GETHIN JENKINS, LUKE CHARTERIS.

On the bench today from the above 2011 Players ...
RHYS PRIESTLAND, PAUL JAMES, BRADLEY DAVIES, LLOYD WILLIAMS, JAMES HOOK.

Of course some of the 2011 team, that should be here today, cannot because of injury ... LEIGH HALFPENNY, SCOTT WILLIAMS and JONATHAN DAVIES.

Some have retired ... most notably ... SHANE WILLIAMS... RYAN JONES (because of injury) ADAM JONES.

BUT WE STILL HAVE A GREAT TEAM

We now have the expert kicking of DAN BIGGAR... who is ALMOST as good as LEIGH HALFPENNY.
We have an amazing 2nd choice Scrum Half GARETH DAVIES ( who replaced our 1st choice Rhys Webb through injury)
MIKE PHILLIPS WAS THE SCRUM HALF IN 2011... He is still in the Squad but not been used this time so far.


SO MANY OF OUR 2011 BOYS ARE STILL WITH US TODAY!
