I have a friend who's slowly dying. His liver is shot due to drink. He won't stop drinking so he's not on the list for a new liver. |

I have just been having a tot-up, (no pun intended) My intake is probably nearer to 30 than 40, and I do go several days a week without. It seems to go in cycles. I may have very little for a couple of weeks, then holidays (worst time), parties, weddings etc. and I seem to be drinking a lot more. I have to admit to a liking for scrumpy, which fortunately is hard to find in London. I don't mean that gassy chemical stuff, but proper rough made with apples. I have my own apple crusher, (or scratter, for aficionados) and I have built a cider press which is very effective. I use whatever apples I can get my hands on, last year it was all from one tree and made 5 gallons of excellent stuff. I bottle some, and put some in a pressure barrel. I will go to the pub tonight to celebrate St Patrick's Day, even though I have no Irish blood in me, and don't much like Guinness. |
