Sharron

Sharron Report 6 Feb 2014 08:28

We were awoken this morning by Fred's continued groaning.

He would not wake or respond to me so I called an ambulance.

The para-medics did all the tests and he responded a bit but they took him off to hospital.

The carers arrived with the ambulance and they got him ready.

Once they had rolled him he was alert enough to grab the bed rails to steady himself as he usually does and the para-medics said that he was supporting himself in their chair and did not need to be held up.

I, of course, am running through the worst case scenario but they were saying that he might just need stronger antibiotics and that this infection could well have knocked him back a long way.

His mate is going to the hospital with him as he lives nearby and I think he would rather have his partner in crime with him than the fat controller!

I will keep you posted.

Thank you.

I have always tried to keep real and remember that he is 94 and that is not something everybody achieves.

I am ridiculously calm at the moment.

Sharron, best wishes to Fred. I hope that they can sort him out, sounds as if the chest infection needs stronger meds. Yes he is 94 and he has done so well (as have you) but he has been well until now and the hope is that, with help from the hospital, he will continue to be so. As you say though you/we need to be realistic (but Fred is stubborn and so can you/we be and hope for the best).

I hope you have good news for us when you hear from the hospital. <3

I have rung the hospital.

His mate is there with him. He is responding to them well, alert now.

They were just awaiting the results of his blood test.

poor Fred probably got worn out getting the bus the other day (after the hospital stuff-up).

I hope you and Fred (and Fred's mate) feel better soon.

Sorry to hear of this set-back, but the news that Fred is now more alert is encouraging.

I hope they sort out suitable medications really quickly, so that he can get back to his old self.

Thinking of you.
