Mr M, Matey, don't put your Jokes etc within your opening post. put them in second post, then if it gets RR`d just delete the whole thread.
That way the RR`r gets no satisfaction. and wont know whether it would be taken off or reinstated. :-)

Surely the person who rr's jokes (or people) would simply have to refer the joke for review and the Opening Post as well - so that whole thread could be reviewed and joke at same time. :-S

There wouldn't be anything that breaks the T&Cs in the OP though would there?

Thread would be deemed to be likely to cause trouble or offence. I think that is why so many tend to rr an innocuous opening thread. Trying to keep up, honest. Don't run so fast, Island :-D ;-)

Some get offended by smutty jokes. I never saw this one, and generally like a joke. But seems to be not the place to post them.

I can understand people reporting them. Can you, Island? There seems to be a genuine feeling that they are old and do not have a life (edit), but they may be young mothers doing family history, having a break and looking at chat, and who are worried that their children might see the jokes.

Fitzherbert in his "Boke of Husbandry" 1523 describes the work a country housewife should do:

"First sweep thy house, dress up thy dishboard, and set all things in good order within they house: milk thy kine, suckle thy calves, sye up (strain) thy milk, take up thy children and array them, and provide for thy husband’s breakfast, dinner, supper, and for thy children and servants, and take thy part with them.

Ordain corn and malt to the mill, to bake and brew withall when need is, and meete it to the mill (measure out what you send to the mill), and from the mill, and see that thou have thy measure again beside the tolle (the proportion the Miller kept as payment). In addition to this, she was expected to spin and weave, make clothes and blankets, winnow the corn and help make hay, shear the corn and if her husband needed her help to fill the muck waine or dung cart and also ride to market to sell butter, cheese, milk, eggs, capons, hens, pigs and geese.

She was, however, advised "sometimes thou shalt have so many things to do, that thou shalt not know well where is best to begin - so do that first that she will lose most by not doing".

In my opinion that is a load of rowlocks. Why would young mothers using GR to do their family history encourage or allow their young children to read the General Chat message board at GR? I am fairly sure that the young children would not find their own way there just to see if there were any "Dirty" jokes available to view. Equally why would "Normal" old people (Of either sex) be offended by a joke which contained nothing other than innuendo, no swearing, no graphic descriptions ect and a joke that the Two Ronnies or Morcambe and Wise have both used in their TV shows. I'm afraid that the individual who RR'd that post and possibly other similar ones has a serious disorder of some kind.

No John. I do not understand why some individuals take it upon themselves to decide what members of an ADULT site should and should not read. Neither do I have any idea who might be doing the reporting.

Ah Jonesey, I am a slow typist. In addition to the point you make about 'young mothers' I can add - as most RRs apparently go on late at night......oh need I say more? I hoped John would work this out for himself ;-)

I admit it, I admit it - if it was not for the saving grace of the anonymous finger on the "Report Button" protecting my morals, I would have been exposed to all the disgusting, offensive and the lowering of the tone material that is allegedly contained in the jokes that get posted on GR.

After all I have lead a sheltered life being a wild rover for many years, from my time in the army to the times I frequented the nightclubs and bars of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Soho, and Amsterdam, but now I need to be protected at age 70 so I that I do not get corrupted ;-)
