All those living in the UK getting fed up just think about the USA they are more excited then we are and its not even theirs :-|

When there's something on I don't want to watch, I turn it off Mersey, so I never look at anything on TV that I don't want to, but to be fair I don't watch much TV, so it makes no difference to me if something is on or not, there's nothing ever on that I just have to watch, if there's something I fancy watching and I'm busy I sky + it.

I so love watching history in the making, so all the pomp is right up my street. When I was working at the Olympics, I met so many oversees visitors who were blown away by all our history, they can't get enough of it, I just feel lucky it's my history :-D

Mersey Report 23 Jul 2013 20:45

As I have said I think the birth of a future king is an amazing bit of history...its been an amazing time for the lovely couple and also in GB.......

I for one wish them well in the future, just think it was abit of overkill

I'll just shut me gob!!

~Lynda~ Report 23 Jul 2013 20:50

No need to shut your gob Mersey, we all like different things, bit bit boring if we all liked the same stuff. :-D

Gee

Gee Report 23 Jul 2013 21:09

When you turn on the tv, every channel is about the birth and a 'door'.....that's not 'objective' or interesting tv

Why not have 'The Royals' tv channel? People seem to be interested enough?

I've turned on all terrestrial and other......all about the birth

Well done Kate....you had a baby

Great idea Gins - it would appeal to both the mildly interested who could tune in when they wanted and the obsessives - everyone happy :)

It's the build up to seeing the Royal Baby didn't you hear the roar when they did appear, from people who had been standing for hours and hours as for being on TV well it's a couple of days out of a year so make the most of it . If not wanting to see just switch off .

~Lynda~

~Lynda~ Report 23 Jul 2013 21:20

Can't you put a movie channel on Gins, they're not all about births, and I think channel 4 has Kirsty Allsopp on, or was earlier :-D

Gee

Gee Report 23 Jul 2013 21:23

OK, but, tv is about choice?

I and others have had 'no' choice

Gee

Gee Report 23 Jul 2013 21:26

Allan Report 23 Jul 2013 22:12

Totally agree, Dizzi. The coverage is over the top here in Oz.

Nice that the child and parents are healthy, but that's as far as I need to know :-|

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 24 Jul 2013 01:39

I'm glad Dizzi had the nerve to post this!

It has been total overkill over here ..................... but a similar thing happened back when William was born in 1981.

Last night we wanted to see a bit of the important world news on 3 international channels ..................... the national Canadian channel, on CNN, and on BBC Worldwide.

Every single one of them was talking heads discussing what might happen now, or in 6 months / 5 years, rehashing what had happened, or not happened, during the day.

I must say I was absolutely delighted when I heard the following 2 little tidbits ............

The baby was born at 4:24 pm.................... but the news was not released until 8:24 pm

The baby was born at 4:24 pm .................. but Buck Palace issued a news release at 8:00 pm saying that there would be no announcement if the birth happened after 10 pm, until the next day

Delicious control of the media .......... giving the poor parents some much needed relief, and time to have private time.

I'm delighted the baby is healthy ...................... now let's not hear any more speculation on whether Kate can breast feed, how much exercise she is doing to lose the "baby fat", what names will be chosen, when the names will be announced, etc etc etc. Or, heaven forfend .................... when she will have the next baby!

All will happen in good time ................ and no-one else knows anyhting except Kate and William, and their families.

I would have liked this baby to have been a girl ..................... just to make sure the new law had to be proclaimed :-D :-D :-D :-D

LollyWithSprinklez Report 24 Jul 2013 02:31

Phew ... I for one am just happy that the media scrum is over at St Marys.

It cant have been easy for patients outpatients or visitors the last few days with all the crowds outside.

For anyone that doesn't know the hospital the ambulance bay is next to and above where the majority of royal birth watchers were, as is the A&E and the main entrance to the building .... during the times it rained I noticed that lots were sheltering directly under the canopy of the entrance.... this is used by visitors for a little respite and patients taking air (or a cig) I should imagine the hospital toilets were pretty busy too.

As for the in-patients I shouldn't think the noise could have been very conducive to rest especially in the heat with windows open.

Very happy for the couple and hope they are enjoying their second night with the new baby - just feel the Lindo wing might not have been the best of choices.
