Too true, you would not want many garden parties like Midsomer Murders..or maybe you would depending on the invite list!

I don't personally go out to shops to fill my wardrobe.

Incidentally, I had to have the wheel fitted because someone nicked me leg and chucked it on the barbecue.

Persie, I have heard that people absolutely flock to traditional garden parties and, that some even ram their way in :-D

I do hope we don't have garden parties like Midsomer Murders. They become like a game of cluedo. Himself couldn't believe it when we sat down and watched one the other night and I said she did it. He later said how could you tell. I didn't like to say she is such a top actress that they would have her there till the end, bit like cheating.

Sorry about that Gracie re my sheep story. Maybe ewe could muster up a better one.

LOl the only garden parties we have here are the ones we see on Midsomer Murders or the Father Brown series :)

They do sound lovely though, however we are more likely to have bbq's...I am lucky in that my OH"s parents and family have always been exposed to and cook a lot of yummy Middle Eastern food so the salads etc are pretty awesome :) and they go nicely with meat and veg!

Now I am hungry...we get flat peaches here too, only they come down from Queensland and I have found they don't last quite as long as the white peaches (which are my favourite) ..course I thought our banana's were good to until I had oranges and banana's etc in Rome, and our cousins said they are imported from Africa..they were both very sweet and full of flavour :)

Weird Sue.. so as to distinguish you from t'other Sues and to ensure I don't get sued.

eRRol will be okay he only eats the best of grass, has been researching it for ages. I think he thought his throat had been slit the other day he was very under the 'wether' about it.

The last but one garden party / buffet I went to served BBQ'd rattlesnake as a main item.

It was OK ........... but a bit too bony for me.

Of course, we don't really have "garden parties" here .........

.......... everyone has BBQs, in the garden.


The only people who have garden parties are the British consulates, who are often willing expats from London.

For info (and why I do not eat it knowingly)

Halal is an Arabic word that means "permissible." In terms of food, it means food that is permissible according to Islamic law. For a meat to be certified "halal," it cannot be a forbidden cut (such as meat from hindquarters) or animal (such as pork.)

The slaughter of a halal animal is called "zabihah" and there are certain guidelines to follow:
Allah's (God's) name must be pronounced during slaughter.
The instrument must be very sharp to ensure humane slaughter. The animal must be slit at the throat.
The animal must not be unconscious
The animal must be hung upside down and allowed to bleed dry. Eating blood is not halal.
These steps must be accomplished by a Muslim or the People of the Book (Christian or Jew.) Many observant Muslims find kosher meat acceptable.
The animal must have been fed a natural diet that did not contain animal by-products.

I have been admiring this little black and white number of yours for sometime, is it a gingham check or houndstooth?

I moved out of the capitole not so long ago as I felt the high life of privilege, big plates of exotic food - every night tsk - aaand them there common as much sat upon peaches was going to my head. I needed to live among the unsophisticated to get a balance on life. But.......d'you know.........the begga's in me new neck of the woods are noshing all that medi-leb food too :-0 :-0
