oh noooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just found this thread languishing at the bottom of page one!!!!

What a calamity!

Thank heavens I spotted it just in time and took much-needed remedial action.

Phew!

Joeva, we did wish to include you as part of this vital research project but didn't wish to encroach on your valuable time.

If a thread has a thousand posts then it is popular.
If it has one post then it is not popular.

Surely?

How can a thread that nobody except the OP has added to be deemed popular?

BrendafromWales

BrendafromWales Report 24 Jun 2013 14:39

Surely,as we are all individuals,we like different things ...so sometimes we miss a thread that would have interested us as if like me,not on here every day.

So who says that it is just the light hearted playful posts that people want to see?
I have had bits of knowledge from this board over the 8 years as a member,as well as help and support in times of need as a lot of others have had.

I am not saying there shouldn't be these "popular" threads, but there is room for anyone to add their points of view without the bad feeling that seems to occur so much these days.

We have had these differences before, but it seems to be quite a regular thing for a few on here to either take out of context or make an issue of,instead of ignoring .

Life is too short to be at odds with one another.

There...had my say now.....and as for Facebook...I love it as it keeps me in contact with my family, especially those abroad who post pictures etc...and Ive found people from way back in my past.you just have to keep it as private as possible and choose your friends.

Joeva Report 24 Jun 2013 14:26

Merlin, :-D thanks for your explanation !

Here was I thinking I had been excluded from this important research project :-D

As my name is not Victoria and I have no blue blood in my veins my opinion wouldn't have been sought anyway. :-D

If the OP wants to talk to him/her self, why not???

Of course some people like contentious threads on here - 'twas ever thus :-D :-D

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 24 Jun 2013 14:18

Well I agree with you regards those that drop at a rate of knots Errol but how
can they do anything else when all you get is others jumping on the band wagon
and starting another thread on the same thing. The Hooray thread this
morning named no names nothing to be reported for and yet those on the thread
were rr'd for no reason, pointless, people get angry and so it goes on.
These threads Island will always be popular with some. Like you I also like fb
and am fussy who I invite to be a friend.

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 24 Jun 2013 14:03

GoldenGirl I am inclined to agree but my main point is not threads that appear at the top. It is threads that drop down at a rate of knots.
There have been instances where OPs keep adding to their own threads even though nobody else is. They then ask why their thread is generating no interest whatsoever.
Well, if nobody is interested then they simply will not add.

Island

Island Report 24 Jun 2013 14:01

I'm confused :-S

Surely contentious threads ARE popular? A lot of people must love a ruck or otherwise they would resist chucking in their two pen'orth.

I enjoy my facebook page - I'm fussy who my friends are so it works just fine for me. If you don't want trouble don't invite it - simple.

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 24 Jun 2013 13:56

Well that would be a shame Bob as this is the best
debate I've had in ages.

Emma

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 24 Jun 2013 13:50

Or the OP and friends are unpopular no matter the subject
and are reported and then OP and their friends follow those
who think have reported them on to their threads and report
them and cause havoc and so it goes on.

Bobtanian

Bobtanian Report 24 Jun 2013 13:43

careful what you post............beware the phantom RR'r

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 24 Jun 2013 13:40

GoldenGirl - things do not get reported because they are popular. Things get reported because they are deemed to be offensive.

At the end of the day, if something continues to appear at the top of a board, then it is, in all likelihood, because it is popular. Popular doesn't necessarily mean that people like it. It just means that it is a topic about which people have a lot to add, thus making it popular.
If a thread soars screaming down the board then that is most likely because nobody has added to it. It is unpopular.

went on facebook once - forgot my password - never been on it since and from what I've heard about it, I have no desire to go on there

I love the funny threads more than anything - the dry wit of some of our members is hysterical - I do like a good laugh

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 24 Jun 2013 13:27

So that is why they get reported because they are popular.
Lost me there Errol.
