Anyone been to the Herb Garden next to Kenwood House. It is very pleasant to sit there on a warm afternoon, the smell is amazing.

Buildings usually closed to the general public, are opening their doors.

All buildings are listed on the website Open Doors. Most entrance on a first come, first served basis.

Just the ticket for the Keyhole Kates amongst us.

When your feet are sore and your head spinning from the hard work of being a tourist I have spent many happy hours in the following, all of which have a good slice of London one way or the other. The last is my "local".

The Grapes 76 Narrow Street, Limehouse, London E14 8BP
Prospect of Whitby 57 Wapping Wall, London, Greater London E1W 3SH
The Dickens Marble QuaySt Katharines Way London E1W 1UH ( good food, old Thames barges )
The Blind Beggar Pub 337 Whitechapel Rd, London E1 1BU ( nr GRu offices and also location of Kray bros being v norty)
The Tarmon 270 Caledonian Road, London, N1 1BA

If I pass the Tarmon will you be propping up the bar Rollo, or sitting sedately holding a lemonade?

You are more likely to find me with a pint of Guinness and a snooker cue.

The Tarmon is not really a kiddies and lemonade sort of place. Grown ups only.
I took my mother in once and she asked for a pot of tea. Sensational. After I got it put about that her father was from Dublin everybody calmed down.

They have recently decided to let some light in but that is just to make it easier to read "Sporting Life" and "The Irish Post".

Correct me if I am wrong Rollo, but is it the one on the corner, just a cough and a spit from where our former Illustrious Leader lived with his lady wife and sprogs?

Yes, 200 yards tops.

I thought so! Yes I do know the public house. Cos I is an Islington gel.

Changing the subject, there is to be a festival on the Thames for the next 10 days. Sideshows, singing, displays and the like. Get down there!
