I really don't care how it is written as long as it made sense.

Yes it is a term that is a bit old hat these days. Sort of the formal way of doing things.

Many people just one finger type and it is an easier for them to keep the cap lock on.

Personally I think it rude to even mention it to another writer - what is it their business.

:-P :-P :-P

So was it you who reported me a while back for using caps to get my point across in the absence of an italics button Rollo? :-S :-)

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 15 Apr 2013 00:15

a very ignorant posting, and unnecessary.

I have far more problems with people who do not use punctuations, or spacings, and post a message that runs on for 10 or 20 lines, without a pause!

Netiquette is still taught in schools, I'm told, so not that old hat.

It doesn't matter on chat boards but in more "formal" sutuations it's important for children to know the accepted way to go about things. Just as people my age were taught how to write letters in school.

There are plenty of forums where you would still be "flamed" for posting with caps lock on.

I find it really hard to read posts in all caps but

tHE ONES WHERE PEOPLE GET CAP SHIFT THE WRONG WAY ROUND STILL MAKE I LAUGH.

Dizzi dear, I haven't a clue what that link was about either - all I know is, that the letter E is the mostly widely used letter in the alphabet :-S

However, I do understand the reasons as to why you use capitals so please don't be put off by Rollo's comment.

It's also quite common for those with poor eyesight to prefer to use block capitals for obvious reasons, and many older folk, who have very little computer experience, will not have a clue about 'netiquette'.

Just remember Dizzi, your friends are always pleased to see those capital letters appear because then they know you are okay!! :-)

Rollo still hasn't said why he put this thread up. Has something irritated you?

Although I wouldn't mention it so someone on a thread, if they initiated a conversation by PM, I might then.

To be honest, I find a block of text in capitals hard to read, where as a single sentence or short lines are fine. It might be the font used on this site.

Your posts are fine to read Dizzi - you only write a few words per line.

Something (or someone) must have wound Rollo up ;-)

PricklyHolly Report 15 Apr 2013 10:58

If something or someone has wound Rollo up.......it's a shame to have singled out Dizzi to get a point across.

Maybe you can explain what the point of this thread is in the first place Rollo to put Dizzi's mind at ease.

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 15 Apr 2013 11:40

I don't think Rollo's intention was to be rude. It seems a light-hearted, jokey post to me.

No need to have a go at him, surely?
