Good morning :-)
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
Jesus Christ, we desire to welcome fully the brothers and sisters who are with us. You know how often we feel helpless in the face of their suffering, yet you are always there ahead of us and you have already received them in your compassion. Speak to them through our words, support them through our actions, and let your blessing rest on us all. Amen
GO AND DO
Global: Take time to engage with global news stories today. Take action in response to the story that most moves you with compassion.
Local: Contribute in any way that you can to a foodbank, food growing scheme or community meal initiative in your area.
Personal: Reflect on and identify who ‘the other’ is for you. How might you connect with and offer a welcome to them in your next encounter?

GO AND DO
Global: Find out more about the Just Scripture initiative and help organise a session connecting the churches in your area with a community across the world.
Local: What one act of kindness could the churches in your area take together to be a unified blessing in your wider community?
Personal: Read the Beatitudes through slowly (Matthew 5: 3-11). Which of the actions described in the passage are you encouraged to take today?

Continuing with the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.....
God our Father, you reveal to us your love through Christ and through our brothers and sisters. Open our hearts so that we can welcome each other with our differences and live in forgiveness. Grant us to live united in one body, so that the gift that is each person comes to light. May all of us together be a reflection of the living Christ. Amen
GO AND DO Global: What action can we take in response to the compassion needed in the world?
Local: Consider making a banner or quilt together as churches and the wider community to demonstrate the things that thread and weave you together.
Personal: Consider the clothing in your wardrobe and the lives and hands that have touched them. Have these clothes been made with fair pay and good working conditions?

Good morning :-)
This week is the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity - a week when Christians of all traditions join together in prayer.
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in 2021 has been prepared by the Monastic Community of Grandchamp in Switzerland. The theme that was chosen, “Abide in my love and you shall bear much fruit”, is based on John 15:1-17 and expresses Grandchamp Community’s vocation to prayer, reconciliation and unity in the Church and the human family.
Today the community has fifty sisters, all women from different generations, Church traditions, countries and continents. In their diversity the sisters are a living parable of communion. They remain faithful to a life of prayer, life in community and the welcoming of guests. The sisters share the grace of their monastic life with visitors and volunteers who go to Grandchamp for a time of retreat, silence, healing or in search of meaning.
For 2021, the sisters are inviting churches across the world to enter into their tradition of prayer and silence that is rooted in the ancient traditions of the Church catholic.
For the next few days, I will use extracts from the booklet.....
Holy Spirit, May we receive in our hearts the presence of Christ, and cherish it as a secret of love. Nourish our prayer, enlighten our reading of Scripture, act through us, so that the fruits of your gifts can patiently grow in us. Amen.
GO AND DO Global: As people of faith think about how you can work together for the day when all can know a full and abundant human life.
Local: Consider how the churches in your area can be more child friendly spaces.
Personal: Give thanks and pray for the children you know.

Just A Little Prayer by Joseph Ferrara
God is ever there for those Who really, really care, He helps dispel your cares and woes With just a little prayer.
Invite the Lord into your heart, He has much love to spare, A love He gladly would impart With just a little prayer.
Let Him know when things go wrong, No matter when or where. He can fill your heart with song With just a little prayer.
It matters not your race or creed, God does not compare. He can fill your wants and needs With just a little prayer.
No power on earth can give to man God's immortal blessings rare. He is the only One who can With just a little prayer.

The Collect (special prayer) for today :
Almighty God, in Christ you make all things new: transform the poverty of our nature by the riches of your grace, and in the renewal of our lives make known your heavenly glory; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Good afternoon :-)
Oh Vera, I am so very sorry to hear that your brother has died and send you all my love and a virtual hug. These are such sad times but I am sure you must have so many happy memories of your time together with him. Each wild bird will bring comfort I hope. <3 <3
Thank you for that Tabitha - Emma loves HSR so I hope she sees this. <3
Some lockdown reading which I hope inspires....
A man's daughter had asked the local pastor to come and pray with her father. When the pastor arrived, he found the man lying in bed with his head propped up on two pillows and an empty chair beside his bed. The priest assumed that the old fellow had been informed of his visit.
"I guess you were expecting me," he said.
"No, who are you?"
"I'm the new associate at your local church," the pastor replied.
"When I saw the empty chair, I figured you knew I was going to show up."
"Oh yeah, the chair," said the bedridden man. "Would you mind closing the door?"
Puzzled, the pastor shut the door.
"I've never told anyone this, not even my daughter," said the man. "But all of my life I have never known how to pray. At church I used to hear the pastor talk about prayer, but it always went right over my head.."
"I abandoned any attempt at prayer," the old man continued, "until one day about four years ago my best friend said to me, 'Joe, prayer is just a simple matter of having a conversation with Jesus. Here's what I suggest. Sit down on a chair, place an empty chair in front of you, and in faith see Jesus on the chair. It's not spooky because he promised, 'I'll be with you always.' Then just speak to him and listen in the same way you're doing with me right now."
"So, I tried it and I've liked it so much that I do it a couple of hours every day. I'm careful, though. If my daughter saw me talking to an empty chair, she'd either have a nervous breakdown or send me off to the funny farm."
The pastor was deeply moved by the story and encouraged the old guy to continue on the journey. Then he prayed with him and returned to the church.
Two nights later the daughter called to tell the pastor that her daddy had died that afternoon.
"Did he seem to die in peace?" he asked.
"Yes, when I left the house around two o'clock, he called me over to his bedside, told me one of his corny jokes, and kissed me on the cheek. When I got back from the store an hour later, I found him dead. But there was something strange, in fact, beyond strange-kinda weird.
Apparently, just before Daddy died, he leaned over and rested his head on a chair beside the bed."

Thank you for that Tabitha.
My brave and much loved younger brother died last night. I seem to have spent much of the morning just staring out of the conservatory windows. My brother loved wildlife and, when he was well enough, would take his binoculars and go birdwatching. This morning our small garden is full of several types of birds and I have found it very comforting just to stand watching them and thinking of how he loved them. Somehow comfort is always there just when we need it. RIP brother.

Twenty nine years ago my mum spent the last year of her life in and out of hospital - because she was a long term patient and in over the Christmas she got taken to a lot of shows and events and did say it was one of her happiest years in a long time. She made a lot of friends and had people to talk to all day. Where as before it was only me since since retired. Occasionally the hairdresser and post office
I spent my evenings and weekends there, sometimes helping the staff mixing in with card games and so on, but when we just wanted to sit and talk i took my cross stitch while she knitted. I completed a lot of inspirational sayings, prayers and hymns and had some framed. This one is hanging in my spare room, which was once my bedroom.
I hope you like it.
Climb 'Til Your Dream Comes True
Often your tasks will be many, And more than you think you can do. Often the road will be rugged And the hills insurmountable, too.
But always remember, the hills ahead Are never as steep as they seem, And with Faith in your heart start upward And climb 'Til you reach your dream.
For nothing in life that is worthy Is never too hard to achieve If you have the courage to try it And you have the Faith to believe.
For Faith is a force that is greater Than knowledge or power or skill And many defeats turn to triumph If you trust in God's wisdom and will.
For Faith is a mover of mountains. There's nothing that God cannot do, So start out today with Faith in your heart And "Climb 'Til Your Dream Comes True" !

Good morning :-)
Some interesting thoughts on the opening/closure of churches :-D
Logically, I understand the reasoning for closure but, in my heart of hearts, I still feel we should be offering a place of sanctuary. Foodbanks are open to feed those who are struggling with hunger and yet there are also those who struggle with a spiritual hunger.
I think our RC churches remain open at the moment.
Moving on.... :-D
Good morning,
As you began your day, I watched and hoped you would talk to me. Just a few words, such as thanking me for something good in your life yesterday or last week would do, but I noticed you were busy selecting the right clothes for work. I waited again to hear from you. When you ran around the house collecting papers, I knew there would be a few minutes to stop and say hello, but you never slowed down.
I wanted to tell you that I could help you accomplish more than you ever dreamed possible if you would just spend some of each day with me. At one point, you waited fifteen minutes in a chair with nothing to do. I waited to hear from you.
Then I saw you spring to your feet; I thought you wanted to talk to me, but you ran to the phone and called a friend. I watched as off to work you went and I waited patiently all day long to hear from you. With all your activities you were too busy to talk with me.
I noticed at lunch you looked around; maybe you just felt embarrassed to talk to me. You glanced three tables over and noticed some of your friends talking to me before they ate, but you didn’t.
There was still more time left, and I hoped that we would talk. You went home and had many things to do. After they were done, you turned on the TV; just about anything goes there, and you spend many hours watching. I waited as you continued watching TV and ate your meal but again you didn’t talk to me.
At bedtime you were totally tired. After you said good night to your family you plopped into bed and fell asleep. I had so much wanted to be part of your day. We could have had so much fun and accomplished so much together.
I love you so much that I wait every day for a thought, prayer or thanks. Well, maybe tomorrow! I'll be waiting.
Your Friend, God

I believe services from our local church are online only but I think the church is still open from 10-4 each day for private prayer. Of course anyone visiting must wear a mask and stay distanced from anyone else and must sign in with name and contact details. While I understand the reasons for the closure of churches it seems wrong somehow so I am glad our local one has some form of limited opening.
I love the lessons to be taken from Noah’s building of the ark.
Stay safe everyone

Our churches in this province have been closed since before Christmas, and there is no sign of them opening.
Of course there are faith leaders complaining, including the Roman Catholic Archbishop of the province, based in Vancouver. They are all complying though, whether they be Anglican, Catholic, a branch of Judaism, Islam, Muslim, etc
The common cry is "but we do spatially distance, we don't sing, we do obey all the rules. Why should we be penalised when xxxx (eg gyms) can still operate?"
The huge problem is that "you" may obey, but there are several "churches" that are not, that have been visited regularly by police, issued with fines, and STILL have large congregations, no spatially distancing, etc.
BUT they are what we call "evangelical" churches, not of any of the main faiths .............. and just what would happen if the "Church of the Evangelical Christ" in xxxx or "Church of Everlasting Faith" in yyyy were shut down one by one while every other church was allowed to stay open. That is, the "-ologies" as I used to call them were singled out one by one.
Can't you just imagine the outcry from them AND from Civil Liberties and other "do-gooders" interested more in the freedom of speech or of religious freedom??
Plus, of course, the complete closure of all churches, temples, etc gives the province more rights in the legalities of enforcement, with warnings, fines and even prison terms.

Everything I need to know, I learned from Noah's Ark.
1. Don't miss the boat. 2. Remember that we are all in the same boat. 3. Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark. 4. Stay fit. When you're 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big. 5. Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done. 6. Build your future on high ground. 7. For safety's sake, travel in pairs. 8. Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs. 9. When you're stressed, float awhile. 10. Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs - the Titanic by professionals. 11. No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting.
