Good morning :-)
My daughter is recovering slowly....still a bit stiff and sore but the grazes are healing. Her two black eyes are turning yellow now - it rather looks like eye make-up :-D
Lovely pavement washing rain.......ours were pounded for a brief time yesterday. :-)
It doesn’t happen to everyone, but a significant milestone in many people’s lives is when they find that ‘many splendoured’ thing called………love….
True Love is a sacred flame that burns eternally. And none can dim its special glow or change its destiny. True Love speaks in tender tones and hears with gentle ear. True Love gives with open heart and True Love conquers fear. True Love makes no harsh demands. It neither rules nor binds. True Love holds with gentle hands the hearts that it entwines.

Hallo all
I hope your daughter is recovering from her fall Cynthia. What a nasty shock for her and for you.
Enjoy your dishwasher. I have had one since 1986 since we moved to a house where the previous owners had a dishwasher. We got one to fill the space left when they removed theirs. I often think OH wouldn't even notice if I broke down but the day the dishwasher gave up he was down the electrical shop in record time to order a new one.
Interesting posts again this week. I had forgotten all about churching. I think the practice was already dying out when my children were born but I remember my mother being churched after the birth of my brother.
A new baby in the family is a precious blessing indeed. They grow so quickly and before you have time to blink they are in their last assembly in primary school and singing "One More Step Along The Road I Go". It seems no time since my children were in that position and now my youngest grandchild is 11 and about to take the next step up to senior school. It's perhaps a lesson to us to make the most of every moment before it's gone.
For everyone taking a step into an unknown future, may your God go with you.

Hello all
And it's from the old I travel to the new; Keep me travelling along with you.
I'm sure that there are actions to do with this hymn, but I can't just bring them to mind (Senior Moment!).... I will have this tune in my head a while now. lol.
A very trying day..... washing out then rain so brought inside. It cleared up and washing out on the line again.... more rain and it is inside yet again...hmmmmm
Cynthia, our pavements are getting well washed today!

Good morning :-)
I will willing take your dishes from you Kandj......I'll nip across later :-)
Churching has now been more or less replaced by a service of thanksgiving for the birth of a child, and younger folk look askance when they hear that new mums were not welcome into many homes until they had been 'churched'. Times change :-)
There comes a time when the tiny baby grows up and goes to school. Then comes time to leave education and venture into the big wide world. This hymn is apt for all of us as we journey through life.
One more step along the world I go, One more step along the world I go; From the old things to the new, Keep me travelling along with you: And it's from the old I travel to the new; Keep me travelling along with you.
Round the corners of the world I turn, More and more about the world I learn; All the new things that I see You'll be looking at along with me. And it's from the old I travel to the new; Keep me travelling along with you.
As I travel through the bad and good, Keep me travelling the way I should. Where I see no way to go, You'll be telling me the way, I know. And it's from the old I travel to the new; Keep me travelling along with you.
Give me courage when the world is rough, Keep me loving though the world is tough; Leap and sing in all I do, Keep me travelling along with you:
And it's from the old I travel to the new; Keep me travelling along with you. You are older than the world can be, You are younger than the life in me; Ever old and ever new, Keep me travelling along with you:
And it's from the old I travel to the new; Keep me travelling along with you.
Love to all with a new addition in their family.and I don't mean just dishwashers :-D

Hello all
Want any more pots to fill up your brand new dishwasher Cynthia?
A new baby is indeed a blessing. I well remember the "churching" event that followed when the village vicar would bless us new Mums for the safe delivery and gift of a new life before we were welcomed into the homes of family, friends and neighbours. I was kept on the doorstep with my precious bundle and asked pointedly "Have you been churched?" and only afterwards would be ushered inside.
I'm thinking now of baby Charlie Gard and his parents who are heartbroken at their beautiful son's death. God bless this little angel boy and his Mum and Dad too. xxx

The dishwasher has been an absolute blessing so far. I spend so long washing up and tidying around - I think the neighbours must be bringing their dishes round :-D
Each and everyone of us has had and will have, significant events in our lives. Quite often, these events are reflected in poetry................let's begin at the beginning :-D
A wee bit of heaven drifted down from above- A handful of happiness, a heart full of love. The mystery of life, so sacred and sweet- The giver of joy so deep and complete. Precious and priceless, so lovable, too- The world's sweetest miracle, baby, is you.

Hello all
Congrats on your new addition Cynthia lol. Hubby was always my dishwasher but hasn't been well enough for several years. I don't mind washing up as there is usually only the two of us and when our family visits I am banned from the kitchen.
Not such good news about your daughter. So sorry about the latest family problem. These challenges are indeed come to try us but God is good to give us strength . We are also facing new challenges, but we are coping (just) by helping one another.
"I can do all things through him who strengthens me". (Philippians 4 v 13).
Sending out Happy Sunday Blessings to everyone reading this. xx

Good morning :-)
We have a new addition to our family......... :-D Yes, a dishwasher was finally installed yesterday......lol
As my workload increases with care for my husband, and responsibility for my daughter, I have been looking at ways of making life that bit easier. Any other ideas welcome :-D
That's the good news. The bad news is that our daughter had a bad fall on Thursday - black eyes, bumps and bruises everywhere. I spent 6 hours in A and E with her but, after x-rays and scans, she was allowed out and has been with us. I think she will be okay to return home tomorrow.
She doesn't remember what happened but, apparently, a neighbour found her face down in the road - she had probably knocked herself out when she fell. They called an ambulance etc and then phoned me to let me know. I had to get our son over to stay with his dad - thank goodness he was available. These things are sent to try us.
The Collect (special prayer) for today :
Lord of all power and might, the author and giver of all good things: graft in our hearts the love of your name, increase in us true religion, nourish us with all goodness, and of your great mercy keep us in the same; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
The gospel for today tells of Jesus explaining about the Kingdom of Heaven – where he likens it to a mustard seed; yeast, treasure hidden in a field; a merchant in search of fine pearls and a net thrown into the sea which catches fish of every kind.
Love to all Cx :-)

Good morning :-)
I must admit that I liked the thought of the rain washing the pavements kandj as they can get very messy, especially in town centres.
Our final destination on our flying tour of admittedly Anglican churches in popular holiday resorts is Sofia in Bulgaria.
There isn’t an Anglican church as such, but there is still an Anglican presence – a community which meets once a month at the Chapel of the Catholic Church, 5 Oborishte street (close to the National Library). This is a service of the Holy Communion in English, usually on the 3rd Sunday of the month. Visitors are always welcome.
We pray for this small, but committed group of Anglicans in this place.
In fact, we pray for all Christian denominations throughout the world - for their clergy and for those who serve loyally and faithfully.

Hello all
Cynthia,I smiled reading of your Grandma's comments regarding the heavy rain "washing the pavements" lovely thought for you to have remembered for so long. Hope Summer hasn't ended!!
An interesting topic you have chosen looking at churches in other countries, thanks.
Heavy rain is forecast for us today but a dry bright tomorrow. That is good to know as the couple who have bought the bungalow opposite are being married tomorrow.
May God bless everyone being married this weekend with His unconditional love xx

Good morning :-)
Has summer ended?? ??
I have heard people say how much they have enjoyed holidays in Canada. Many folk have relatives over there, often due to the fact that families emigrated, trying to find a better life, early in the 20th century - as we well know on this site.
The capital of Canada is Ottawa this is what the Cathedral tells us about itself ??...
"Christ Church Cathedral is a diverse and vibrant parish with a wide range of ministries and many active members. It is a place where God is glorified and faith is nurtured in creative, traditional and thought-provoking ways.
The Cathedral is an open place of welcome and hospitality, where people of all ages and backgrounds gather for prayer, inspiration, friendship and service. It is frequently the site of diocesan, ecumenical, interfaith and state events.
The Cathedral celebrates hundreds of liturgies each year, from quiet weekday services to colourful Choral Eucharists on Feast Days. It promotes excellence in sacred music and has an exceptional music ministry and gifted musicians. An arts program offers captivating performances and topical lectures each season, drawing people from all walks of life.
Whoever you are or wherever you are from: you are welcome.
May your experience of Christ Church Cathedral give you a strong sense of the grace upon grace God freely extends to every person and to all Creation."
We pray for the people who worship in this cathedral.

Good morning :-)
We had thunder and lightening last night - it didn't last very long but it was a good downpour. My grandma always used to say that that sort of rain 'washes the pavement'. :-D
Let's continue with visiting churches in popular holiday destinations.
Most of us probably have friends who are off to Greece on their summer holidays..
The Anglican Church in Greece has a wonderful caption….
AN ANGLICAN PRESENCE in the land of the Bible.
St. Paul’s church in Athens introduces itself……
We are A WARM-HEARTED lively group, open to others and welcoming. We provide social welfare, pastoral care to those in need, to the homeless and refugees, as well as to unaccompanied migrant minors.
We offer A PLACE of worship, Christian education, spiritual growth and cultural activities to English-speaking residents of Athens and visitors journeying through the city.
We make a STRONG POINT of fostering good relations with other mainstream Christian Churches and humani-tarian organizations in the city, around Greece and in the rest of the world.
We pray for our brothers and sisters in this historic place.

Hello all
Heavy rain all day but on the positive side I am saved a job of watering the garden.
I have been blessed to mostly see my glass as half full and not half empty, this positive outlook has always helped me to cope with life's challenges over the years.

Good morning :-)
In 2015, a friend of ours became the Archdeacon of Germany and Northern Europe including what is known as the Eastern Archdeaconry. It covers a vast area and many, many countries, some of which are popular holiday destinations. The pictures he posts as he travels from country to country and from church to church, are stunning and show just how active the C. of E. is across that wide area.
One of the countries under his wing is Croatia and the Anglican Chaplaincy in Zagreb. This is what they tell us......
“Our English-speaking congregation meets at Crkva svetog Blaža (St. Blaise’s Church), Prilaz Gjure Deželica 64, Zagreb, on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 5:00 pm. We also hold other occasional events, so please check our calendar of events. Who are we?
Our group consists of people of many nationalities and church backgrounds, and our aim is to provide church services in English for anyone who needs them, whether long-term residents, those here for shorter periods, tourists, or visitors. We meet twice a month, on the 2nd and 4th Sundays, from September to June. One service is a celebration of Holy Communion with visiting clergy, and the other a lay-led Service of the Word. Children up to school age are cared for in the creche and those aged up to 12 are welcome to join in organised Sunday School. Refreshments follow the service.
The Zagreb congregation is linked to Christ Church Vienna in the Diocese in Europe, which is part of the Church of England. Our nearest sister congregations are in Ljubljana and Belgrade. We wish you a warm welcome."
We pray for this congregation in Croatia.

A double blessing indeed kandj, but I wonder how many folk have said 'double trouble' :-D
I think the idea of praising the younger members of the family is a simply lovely idea Vera. They will be made to feel very valued and loved. I'm so pleased that you have had a lovely family gathering - a very special time indeed. <3
Thanks for you input David........there are so many dubious videos and internet sites out there which purport to be 'religious', that I am very, very careful when looking for information. I prefer the tried and trusted sites which have some credence behind them.
I can remember an 'end of time' date being given out to much dismay when I was at school in the 60's. Guess what? It didn't happen :-D Apart from that, practicing Christians are aware that the event could happen at any time and live their lives accordingly. :-D
Now, for today:
Tenerife is a particularly popular place for holidays and yes, there are churches there too. if you are a little bored by the beach, one church has just the thing for you to do
The Anglican church of All Saints Church in Parque Taoro, Puerto de la Cruz - is a little bit of England tucked away amid its own beautiful gardens, carefully tended week by week by our gardening team. If you have green fingers or even if you don’t and would like to do a couple of hours in our gardens please pop along on a Tuesday morning and ask for Tony and join the team who will be delighted to meet you." :-D
We pray for our brothers and sisters who worship at this little church.

What a lovely welcome from the church in Mexico. Your church also sounds very welcoming Cynthia - you certainly seem to get good congregations and lots of little ones brought for baptism. I bet the twins looked gorgeous.
I do like the way baptisms are incorporated into normal services these days. 50 years ago when my children were baptised there was always a Sunday afternoon service just for baptisms and the children never seemed to receive a welcome into the church family. By the time my grandchildren were baptised, they were carried round the church and shown to all the congregation and it was so much more "inclusive".
We very much enjoyed our family weekend. All my grandchildren got there which was lovely. J didn't bring his medal as he is quite an unassuming young man and never boasts but, of course, he got a round of applause. One of our family traditions at this gathering is to celebrate the achievements of the younger ones throughout the previous year. These are read out and are often quite simple things...A has learnt to ride his bike without stabilisers, B sang in a school assembly, etc. Think hard enough and you can always find something notable that a child has achieved. They all get a clap and a "well done" and it's a joy to see the smiles on their faces.
So, as they start their summer break, may God bless the children and bring a little joy into the lives of those less fortunate.

Hello all
Twins boys for baptism on Sunday Cynthia. A double blessing for their family.
I'm sure that your family get together was a happy time for everyone Vera. Did your Grandson go to Nottingham to show you all his Gold Medal there..
A rainy day and cooler but the rain is needed and a job less watering the garden.
Thinking of all parents as children have broken up for the Summer holidays. It was always a happy time for our family and I pray it will be happy for others too.

Three newly baptised little boys......they all behaved beautifully. The twins had blonde curly hair and all dressed up in tiny matching waistcoats and trousers with little ties. So cute.
The holiday season is upon us and friends are up, up and away flying to all corners of the world. Whilst we may have holidays, God never does…..he is with us 24/7 and we shouldn’t really forget that. All around the world there are churches who would welcome us to join them for Sunday worship and I have been looking at one in that very popular holiday location of Mexico.
Whilst Roman Catholic Christianity is the dominant religion in this area, there are over 100,000 Anglicans.
Christ Church in the City of Mexico - here is the welcome they extend to visitors:
"New to Christ Church? We love visitors, and we’ll do our best to welcome you warmly to our congregation. After the Sunday service, we all head across the patio for coffee in the parish hall. Please go to the “Welcome Table” to talk with a member of the Newcomers Committee. We can answer questions, introduce you to members of our church family, and also inform you about English-speaking services in the area (e.g. shops, doctors, etc).
We follow the Book of Common Prayer and The Hymnal 1982, both from the Episcopal Church in the US, for our order of worship and our music. All are welcome to join for any of our services.”
They sound very friendly and welcoming and we thank God for their witness.

We have three little boys - including twins - to be baptised today. One of the families has a mega amount of guests apparently - could be fun ..... arrrrghh :-D
The Collect (special prayer) for today
Merciful God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as pass our understanding: pour into our hearts such love toward you that we, loving you in and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. The reading for today tells of the parable of the Wheat and the Weeds.
Have a good day everyone.... Cx :-)
