Good morning :-)

Lord
In our journeying with you,
it is your hand
that stops us stumbling
or slipping on the path,
your word
that keeps us growing
and builds upon our faith,
your power
that grants endurance
whatever happens next.
Thank you
for joys discovered
and blessings received
in our journeying with you.

Surrounding kandj and her husband with love and prayers. <3

Good morning :-)

Took me ages to log on to here this morning....... :-(

The more we call on God
the more we can feel God's presence.
Day by day we are drawn closer
to the loving heart of God.

Fill me with Your Holy Spirit Lord,
so that I may have inner freedom.
Let your Spirit instil in my heart
a desire to know and love you more each day. Amen.

Love and prayers and especially thinking of kandj and her OH. Cx :-)

Arrrghhh I do apologise. Again, I thought I had posted this morning. Mind you, its been a bit (lot) hectic here as we have had two bedroom carpets fitted and this has entailed much to-ing and fro-ing of clothes etc. There is a freestanding wardrobe in one room and it had to be emptied..........

Today I have spent hours putting things back and generally having a sort through things.

Otherwise than that, I am fine :-) :-D

Thinking of Kandj and her hubby <3 <3 <3

I hope Cynthia and her family are OK. She doesn't often miss a day posting. I do tend to take it for granted that Cynthia's will be the first post that I read in the morning, so I apologise now for taking you for granted.

For all those needing support right now, may you be given the strength you need.

Good morning :-)

How lovely to hear from kandj this morning......but what a time she is having bless her. We keep our love and prayers winging her way, hoping that her husband finds some ease from his pain. We thank God for the doctors and nurses who are so kind and caring to them both.

For today:

"Lord, grant me tenacious winsome courage as I go through this day. When I am tempted to give up, help me to keep going. Grant me a cheerful spirit when things don't go my way. And give me courage to do whatever needs to be done. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Hello all

A BIG AMEN to your prayer this morning Cynthia, I think it was written just for me.

I feel shattered but the road ahead if far from clear. Hubby is still on Coronary Care and the staff are excellent in looking after him and so very kind to me and Helen too.

His pneumonia is almost clear, his heart is stable after last weeks heart attack and he looks worn out poor thing. Extra pain relief is giving him confusion. It's not nice to see him in a lot of pain and it isn't good to see how very confused he is either right now. The recent scan didn't bring us the best of news either but this is how things are for us and with God's strength we plod on and be thankful for a new day.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. prayers and for thinking about us, it means a lot and is greatly appreciated. xxx

Kandj and her husband are in my thoughts too Emma......we can only wait and pray until we hear from her again. Hope all is well with you. <3

Over the last few weeks we have been reminded of the past and it all culminated in the events on Sunday. We remembered the lives lost in warfare and the sacrifices made.

Quite often, we are urged to put the past behind us and to move on, but there are times when it is good to recall the past and to remember with grateful hearts.

Lord
Sometimes in the dark of night
I lie awake
full of anxiety.
But sometimes, I stop myself
and I turn my mind to you
and reflect on the ways
you have helped me in the past,
all the ways you have been my
strength and comfort and guide.
When I remember your help
in the good times and the hard times,
my fears ease,
and my hope rises.
You, God, are my Help.
I rest in the shadow of your protective wings.
I sing songs of hope
because of your love and care. Amen.

Good morning :-)

Thank you for that lovely prayer Vera........ <3

It was bitterly cold at our Cenotaph yesterday but the crowds were huge. Then they all packed into our warm church - standing room only - must have been about 500 folk in.

It was also my husband's birthday yesterday so it was quite a day!

Loving God, may our hearts be full of memories of and gratitude for our coun-trymen and women who served under the armed forces in wars fought for the freedom we enjoy today.
We remember and express our gratitude for those who fell in battle and those who, while they may not have died, offered their bodies, hearts, and energies fighting for a better world.
Bless all those who gave the best of themselves for our country and be with all those who continue to give of themselves to establish peace and protect the innocent in our world. Amen.

It's lovely that you felt able to pop on to the boards Kandj. You and your hubby are very much in my thoughts <3

As we remember those who gave their lives in past conflicts, and as we mark the centenary of Passchendaele, I find it distressing that we humans seem to learn so little from the lessons of the past. How can we still be fighting wars?

At school, 60 odd years ago, we regularly said a prayer for peace and it somehow seems even more relevant today.

Almighty God, from whom all thoughts of truth and peace proceed, kindle we pray Thee in the hearts of all men the true love of peace; and guide with Thy pure and peaceable wisdom those who take counsel for the nations of this earth, that in tranquillity Thy kingdom may go forward, till the earth be filled with the knowledge of Thy love. Amen

Good morning :-)

It was lovely to hear from kandj during what is, for her and the family, a very worrying time. We continue to hold them in our prayers <3

As today is Remembrance Sunday, there will be many Acts of Remembrance taking place across the country.

The Collect (special prayer) set for today.

Ever-living God,
we remember those whom you have gathered from the storm of war
into the peace of your presence;
may that same peace calm our fears,
bring justice to all peoples
and establish harmony among the nations,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

The reading for today is the one where Jesus commands us to ‘Love one another as I have loved you’.

The weather forecast is for very cold conditions this morning........brrrrr I had better wrap up well. Our son is coming to dadsit this morning as it would be too long for my husband to be out - what with road closures and marches taking place.

Hello all...... here I am just popping in quickly. I feel like a zombie on auto pilot!!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH, your kind words, thoughts and prayers are a BIG help.

Hubby has become stabilized but we are anxiously awaiting CT scan results just now.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Good morning :-)

Today is the 99th anniversary of the end of World War One. As we have remembered past warfare through poetry, this morning we contemplate the future through prayer.

Compassionate God and Father of all,
we are horrified at violence
in so many parts of the world.
It seems that none are safe, and some are terrified.
Hold back the hands that kill and maim;
turn around the hearts that hate.
Grant instead your strong Spirit of Peace -
peace that passes our understanding
but changes lives,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

We continue to hold kandji and her husband in prayer. <3

Good morning :-)

A MOTHER'S WARTIME PRAYER – past, present, future.

War of the air keep safe my son
Till he returns his duty done
From shrapnel shell, from fire and blast
Protect his plane until the last
Bequeath to him a courage fine
To brace him in the firing line
Make straight his aim, make keen his eye
Make brave his heart to free the sky
O Lord Almighty, Lord of Air
Keep thou his mind from dark despair
Heal Thou his nerve so sorely tried
By strain of war and friends who died
And grant to me when war is done
The blessed sight of this my son.

Continuing to hold kandj and her husband in prayer. <3
