Good morning :-)
Not that I know of Emma, but someone once asked me, when I was about 12, what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said 'an actress'. My parents nearly fainted on the spot - you would have thought I had said that I wanted to go on the streets :-D :-D
Keep smiling
For the minister's 50th birthday, the congregation decided to give him a new suit.
He was so touched by the gift that the following Sunday he stood before everyone and, with tears in his eyes, announced, "Today I am preaching to you in my birthday suit."
:-D :-D :-D

How about this then Emma? :-D
A priest was invited to attend a house party. Naturally, he was properly dressed and wearing his priest's collar.
A little boy kept staring at him the entire evening. Finally, the priest asked the little boy what he was staring at.
The little boy pointed to the priest's neck.
When the priest finally realized what the boy was pointing at, he asked the boy, "Do you know why I am wearing this?"
The boy nodded his head yes, and replied, "It kills fleas and ticks for up to three months." :-D

Hahahaha Emma.....and there's more! :-D
A smile for today..
After Sunday school, a Mother asked her very young daughter what the lesson had been about. The daughter answered, "Don't be scared, you'll get your quilt."
Needless to say, the Mother was perplexed. Later in the day, she phoned the vicar and asked him what that morning's Sunday school lesson was about.
He said "Do not be afraid, your comforter is coming." ??
What a lovely thought that conjures up - being wrapped up snugly in God's loving arms.

Good morning :-)
Lent will soon be upon us so, maybe it is time for some lightheartedness before the solemnities of that special season begin :-D
The Vicar was preoccupied with thoughts of how he was going to ask the congregation to come up with more money than they were expecting for repairs to the church building. Therefore, he was annoyed to find that the regular organist was sick and a substitute had been brought in at the last minute. The substitute wanted to know what to play.
"Here's a copy of the service," he said impatiently. "But, you'll have to think of something to play after I make the announcement about the finances."
During the service, the minister paused and said, "Brothers and Sisters, we are in great difficulty; the roof repairs cost twice as much as we expected and we need £4,000 more. Any of you who can pledge £100 or more, please stand up."
At that moment, the substitute organist played The National Anthem .
And that is how the substitute became the regular organist!
:-D
Thank you Lord for the gift of humour, fun and laughter.

The Collect (special prayer set for today)
Almighty God, whose Son revealed in signs and miracles the wonder of your saving presence: renew your people with your heavenly grace, and in all our weakness sustain us by your mighty power; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
The gospel reading set for today tells the story of the wedding at Cana.

Good morning :-)
I guess your poor brain is a bit worn out with all it has had to deal with over recent months kandj - hopefully you may soon be able to get some rest and feel a bit better. <3 <3
Jesus said........
"Will you come and follow me if I but call your name? Will you go where you don’t know and never be the same? Will you let my love be shown, will you let my name be known, will you let my life be grown in you and you in me?"
Love to all Cx :-)

Hello all
Still another 10 days before the funeral of my lovely husband. Helen came home yesterday and together with the help of Fr Paul we have put together a Celebration of the Life of her precious Dad. We had tears and hugs and kept breathing deeply but that is all done now and we are both relieved and grateful for Fr Paul's support.
I am still not able to sleep and have little energy during the day. My brain also doesn't seem to want to work or think straight either. One day at a time is enough for now.
Very many grateful thanks to everyone for your prayers and kind words. Appreciated xxx

JESUS SAID ‘FOLLOW ME’
Following Jesus means being aware of a purpose in life that is not self-centred, but (like Jesus himself) is excited by the prospect of making the world a better place.
Following Jesus means that life is not humdrum. Christians often describe it in terms of having discovered an inner peace, a new meaning to life, and an incomparable sense of being loved.
Who wouldn't want that?
Lord, bless those who are taking their first steps with you today. Amen.

JESUS SAID ‘FOLLOW ME’
Following Jesus means….
........ having someone to say thank you to on occasions when a godless view of life seems inadequate, such as times of love, birth and beauty.
......... means that during the times of real distress, there is assurance that the God who has a plan that is ultimately good is going through the anguish with you.
Lord, thank you for always being there - in good times and bad.

Good morning :-)
We have begun Confirmation classes for this year.....the lady vicar who is taking the classes has said how pleased she is with the candidates. They have very clear ideas about why they want to be confirmed and are willing to chat about it. So far, so good :-D
For today:
Jesus said ‘Follow me’.
Following Jesus means that there is a way of moving on from those things we regret – the mistakes we have made, because forgiveness is freely offered by God. So a life of following Jesus often begins with a prayer asking God to forgive us.
Following Jesus means being able to face death or bereavement with reassurance, because we are accompanied by the God who knows the way out of a tomb.
Lord, help me to have the strength and wisdom to follow you. Amen.

Good morning :-)
Jesus said ‘Follow me’. Food for thought.
To follow Jesus requires faith.
You often hear people say that they want ‘proof’ that God exists.
Those who discover more about Jesus, find their lives shaped by his example and teaching, and in this way, the evidence of God’s presence becomes more and more compelling.
Jesus said that those who followed him would have ‘life in all its fullness’. Christians have found that to be true. They have self-worth, security and purpose that they would not otherwise have known.
Lord, help me to discover more about you today.

Good morning :-)
Yesterday's gospel reading and the quote 'Follow me' was well explained in our sermon yesterday. We welcomed a husband and wife team whom we are supporting in their venture to help the lonely and vulnerable in our community. On New Year's day they, and a band of willing volunteers provided a festive lunch and entertainment for anyone on their own. They fed over 120 people. They also handed out food parcels to those unable to travel and provided food for the emergency services who were working on that day. Well done to them all.
The UK is a country which has very much been shaped by the Christian faith. Many people call themselves Christians simply because they live here – but it doesn’t appear to have a striking impact on the way they live. Unlike other religions, there are no special clothes or daily rituals that make a person immediately recognisable as a Christian.
Over the next few days we will take a look at what it is like to follow Jesus and, indeed, to be a Christian in the truest sense.

The Collect (special prayer) set for today
Almighty God, in Christ you make all things new: transform the poverty of our nature by the riches of your grace, and in the renewal of our lives make known your heavenly glory; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. The Gospel set for today tells of Jesus calling to Philip ‘Follow me’.
