Thank you Vera, I hope I may be permitted to continue posting.
How does the reader of the OT & NT KNOW which texts are not literal ?

I too am sure that David's doesn't mean to upset anybody and he is always most apologetic. Perhaps, David, you just need to think things through fully before posting and you might then decide that some items might be better put on a different thread. I would however hate to think that a Christian thread like this was not welcoming to all.
A lovely prayer today Kandj. Thank you.
I feel I am going slowly round the bend (nothing new there lol). I have had the hymn Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine going round and round my head for days and I cannot get rid of it. It's not even a favourite of mine but it set me wondering what is my favourite hymn. I've come to the conclusion I don't have one favourite but lots depending on my mood and what is on my mind at the time. One that seems to have been a part of my life in many ways is Praise My Soul the King of Heaven. It was sung on special occasions, such as Founder's Day, at my school, my daughter had it at her wedding, and my brother and I chose it for our father's funeral. What about you? Do you have a favourite hymn?

Hello all
Goodness me, in all the years that I have contributed to this Christian thread, I don't ever recall a post being RRd...... I could be wrong and somebody may correct me.
I really don't think that David would ever upset anybody intentionally. I'm off now to see if I can find the other thread that Emma is referring to.
Sharing a prayer for today:.............................
As the sun shines, may your hope shine in me, As the birds sing, may your love flow out of me, As your light shines throughout today, may your joy shine in me. I come before you Oh Lord and and drink in this moment of peace, That I might carry something of your hope, love and joy today in my heart. Amen.
Have a good and blessed weekend everyone.

It's a shame but this thread is spoilt for me by you David. Why put it on this thread when you have already written on the other?

Good morning :-)
Not at all Rambling - I know you have the patience of a saint ;-) :-D ;-) :-D
It rather looks as though we are going to be without landline and internet until next Friday :-( :-( :-(
Saturday is like a blank page, fresh and new, a pause from responsibilities and routines. Thank you God for rest and relaxation, for families and friends. Lord, thank you for Saturdays. Amen

Good morning ??
I certainly had a case of hiccups didn't I? ???? it's taking me ages to get used to doing this via my phone. It's nice to know that I was missed - thank you <3
As for why Christians fight each other I suppose a lot is to do with their humanity coming out. As in life, there tends to be those who see a situation differently. You should hear some church meetings :-D :-D
Father, I have to thank You for looking beyond my faults and for loving me unconditionally. Forgive me when I fail to love others in the same way. Give me eyes to see the needs of the difficult people in my life, and show me how to meet those needs in a way that pleases You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Cx ??

Good morning all :-D <3 The Jewish peoples are spread world wide, but
Judaism as a religion is I think far smaller. It's a bit like Christianity where
there billions professing it, but far fewer practising it..
Just a thought, I find it strange that Christian nations should go to
war against each other, killing so many. Is that what war's about ?
Odd that they seem to be started by those too old to fight in them :-S

Thank you ............ you said what I saw in that earlier post much better than I could at the time that I posted it.
I fully appreciate that many of the founders in Hollywood, both behind and in front of the cameras, were members of the Jewish faith, and the movie industry as we know it today would probably not exist if it were not for the people who emigrated from Europe around the turn of the 20th Century bringing with them all kinds of expertise. Europe was way ahead of the US in many areas in those days!
We are very aware in this country at the moment as there is an major increase in anti-Semitism, almost more than there is against anyone of the Muslim faith. Unfortunate though it is, there is a rise in far right groups who detest anyone who is not "like them", ie white anglo-saxon protestant and preferably heterosexual.
It's wise to be very careful how you word things unless you do not want to have comments mistaken.
Thank you for your apology, David.

David, it was the way you worded it. There is a lot of anti-semitism still ( sadly growing) and your use of "The Jews" in the way you used it does have an air of that unfortunately, whether intended or not.
No one disputed that many or most studio founders/ bosses in the early days of Hollywood were Jewish nor that many actors were migrants or their descendants who found it expedient to anglicize their names. Some of them may have followed the Jewish religion, some may not. All were trying to make a place for themselves in their new country.
But as for currently, I would guess there are as many actors and producers etc working in Hollywood of all religions or none as there are Jewish actors, no one would be bothered to ask, no one needs to know do they, unless it is relevant to a role perhaps?

Since my posting regarding Jews in Hollywood I left the subject alone as some
one was of the impression it might be seen as abhorrent.
But, I did look the subject up online and there are many references and
as said, albeit ineptly there is a high percentage of Jews owning the studios
and actors with Anglicised actors / actresses who are Jewish.
I will look for the book you mentioned, thank you..

I look in on this thread from time to time as I enjoy reading it but have only rarely posted anything.
I agree with you, Pat. It's so sad for families affected by anything like that.
I noticed, the other day, that David mentioned Jews in Hollywood. David, you should read Neal Gabler's Book -
An Empire of their Own; How the Jews invented Hollywood.
I first read it more than 25 or so years ago. I think you'd enjoy it; I did. Even if it's not your cup of tea, it may answer some of your questions, and it's an informative and enjoyable read anyway.

Glad to see you back Cynthia :-D <3
We had a big accident outside here several Christmases ago. Man drunk himself silly on Christmas Eve in a pub and then drove home. Well thought he did.His ex home was a the top of our street, we live at the bottom of the hill. Upon arriving at his ex home he tried to get in, waking the new occupiers who reminded him he'd moved. Angry he was in the wrong place he got into his car and started down the hill and lost control. Although from the British Isles with the seatbelt laws (and here) he hadn't strapped himself in, either being drunk or angry may have caused this. He shot forward in the accident hitting the windscreen with his head. Some of our neighbours woke up and the doctor went out to see if he could help and so did the policeman and his nurse wife - they couldn't save him. Only in his 30s with a wife and young family.
We didn't hear it even though our bedroom window was open I was disturbed by all the flashing lights of police, ambulance and fire engine. It also may have been the fact that there were over 20 people working/talking just by our house. :-S
Tragic and so unnecessary. We didn't know him but we had a friend in common.
Drink and drugs cause accidents. :-0

Strange about the internet Cynthia. Earlier this week on two occasions and
once last week my hub lost its internet connection, went from blue to red.
I just switched it off and back on again the following morning.
