Good morning :-)
Sylvia, I will have to chase that news item. I rarely listen to the news nowadays as it is constant virus updates and it can get so depressing. Certainly thoughts and prayers to those affected by the awful shootings. <3
This England is a magazine published quarterly it seems. I didn't know of it but it does sound interesting.
the new jigsaw has been started - it has some very odd shaped pieces!! It could be quite a challenge and, speaking of challenges...….??
Living the Resurrected life..
Give thanks where it is due … to God! Do we begin each day with thanksgiving? When we wake up, do we immediately count our blessings? When we grumble and complain, do we try to counteract that by focusing on the good in our lives? Can we be more joyful because of all God has done for us?
Dear Lord Jesus, there are so many sad and troublesome things to face in the world today, which too often cause our hearts to become weighed down with difficulties and doubts – but I pray that Your joy would fill my heart and strengthen my soul. Give me strength and dignity, wisdom and grace and that I may be enabled to laugh in the storms and not to fear the future. Amen.

Happy Birthday for the Queen.
What a year it has been for her.
My thoughts since Sunday have been filled with the awful happenings in Nova Scotia. So far it seems as if at least 19 were killed, including the perpetrator. But the police have 16 crimes scenes to investigate, including 5 homes destroyed by fire. It is probably going to take weeks and months to determine what happened.
Whatever made him do so much terrible damage, we will never know. But please think and pray for the ones who were killed, their families and friends, and the whole of Canada, because what happens in one province is felt by all of us.

A poem for troubled times.
“God never said die not, sorrow not, or suffer not, but He did say fear not. And when you take fear out of life, then all the terrible experiences...all the trials and all the suffering become bearable.“

Oh Cynthia - if only you lived closer - I still have at leas 10 puzzles i brought for M in L - but she is too frail now to do any as confined to bed since all the mini strokes., she had 5 in 7 months, each one took one more thing from her.
She has just go over shingles, and now has Vascular Dementia. We think she will outlive all of us., she is 96 in a few weeks time.
When the charity shops open up i will take them back. I use to buy 2 or 3 and then take them down to her.
If anyone wants something interesting to read. This England .
Full of lovely bits about our country and its history, lovely pictures and useful articles, cookery, hobbies, strange but interesting facts and all sorts of things, Past and future, I find I can lose myself for hours when i get the chance to read it., there are some lovely photos and poetry. . M in L put me on to it and I still have it sent to her . I think its every couple of months.

Good morning :-)
You're very welcome Vera - and I didn't know that hymn either!
Oh Pat! No bells! You must feel bereft :-D I now have visions of you being pulled on the lead with your feet being lifted off the ground :-D
Nope, didn't find those missing pieces ??but, a new puzzle arrived yesterday.?? Stay safe everyone..... do a jigsaw - the online jigsaws are quite addictive too!!! ??
I must concentrate.....
Following on with thoughts of how we can live out the Resurrection in our lives.... It is recommended that we need to keep a proper perspective of our state. God is God. We are not.
In our day-to-day decisions, how often do we consult our heavenly Father? Is it just a weekly occurrence in church? Or an infrequent, arrow prayer whenever we hit a problem and need some speedy heavenly help? What would our lives look like if we submitted everything to God at all times?
This prayer may help. Heavenly Father, I submit myself to you. I give you everything. I give you my soul, my selfishness, and my temptations. Please help me resist everything that is evil and cling to what is good. In Christ’s name I pray, amen.
Today is also Her Majesty's 94th birthday. A true 'Defender of the Faith', we wish her a very Happy Birthday. God bless her. xx

Thank you as ever for the posts Cynthia and thank you to everyone else who posts. I always enjoy reading what you all have to say.
Pat, you will be forever associated in my mind with “The Bells” ;-). It’s always interesting to hear of the rituals and customs of other places.
Kandj, that hymn was a new one to me so I am going to google and see if I can find a recording on YouTube.
I feel very blessed that, in spite of the terrible times we are living through, I really have an easy life. My thoughts are with all those who are not so fortunate.

No bells at all at the weekend :-D :-D :-D
Heard the Saturday evening sermon via loud speakers :-( we are quite away from the church so it must have been very loud near it. It was so loud the voice was distorted.
No bonfire at midnight Saturday/Sunday but fireworks started 22.30 until midnight then all afternoon yesterday.
The dog is out of her cave (downstairs toilet) now but wasn't happy on her walk yesterday afternoon as we'd got just over halfway when the fireworks started. Didn't know I could walk so quick, or should I say I didn't know Priya could pull me so far :-S

Hello all
Oh no Cynthia, I hope those pieces turn up!
Reading the post today brought back the words of an old hymn which I'd like to share with you all on here.
Sinners Jesus will receive, Sound this word of grace to all Who the heavenly pathway leave, All who linger, all who fall.
Come and He will give you rest; Trust Him for His word is plain, He will take the sinfulest; Christ will take the sinful men.
Sing it over and over again, Christ receiveth sinful men; Make the message clear and plain, Christ receiveth sinful men.
A bright sunny start but chilly so far. Stay safe today everyone.

Good morning :-D
.....and I have lost 3 jigsaw pieces.....arrrrghh. Hands and knees round the table later!! ??
Tabitha - Evelyn sends her thanks and best wishes to you!
The cover on the FB page I do now reads ‘Life after Easter’. With that thought in mind, I looked around for ideas on how we might live the Resurrection in our lives. I found a few thoughts which I will share with you this week.
One way, is to recognise our sins for what they are. When we closely examine our own sinfulness, that’s when we realize what’s really going on in our hearts. It’s very easy to think “I’m a good person.” But are we? If others knew our thoughts and motives, would they think the same? When the Holy Spirit goes to work in our lives, he exposes and convicts us so that we will change.
This is the prayer we say each week in church : (when we were in normal times).
Almighty God, our heavenly Father: We have sinned against you, through our own fault, in thought, and word, and deed, and in what we have left undone. For the sake of your Son our Lord Jesus Christ, forgive us all our offenses; and grant that we may serve you in newness of life, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Good afternoon :-)
Sorry about the late start......
Good to know that David has been seen around.
The Collect (special prayer) for today :
Collect Almighty Father, who in your great mercy gladdened the disciples with the sight of the risen Lord: give us such knowledge of his presence with us, that we may be strengthened and sustained by his risen life and serve you continually in righteousness and truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The Gospel reading tells the story of Doubting Thomas.

Hello all
Thanks for the info Emma but like Sylvia, I don't look at that either, it's good to know David is still about.
No church obviously but I am enjoying the radio 4 early morning service, and today's Sunday worship from St David's Cathedral and Songs of Praise too. Well catered for during the lockdown period I think.
New every morning is the love Our wakening and uprising proof Through sleep and darkness safely brought Restored to life and power and thought.
Only dear Lord in thy pure love Fit us for perfect rest above And help us this and every day To live more nearly as we pray.
This was the hymn that I was singing quietly in my thoughts as I went for my daily exercise today.
Thinking of all the residents and general ward hospital patients and the staff in both places, as they all face challenging and fearful times right now.
Enjoy the sunshine and stay safe everyone X

Hello all
Very unlike David's name not to appear here on on other posts. I really hope that all is well with him and with Ellen now.
I'm continuing to walk around the village streets for daily exercise and prayer walking at the same time.
Little prayers added up together can make miracles. Little miracles put together can create wonders. May you find time to say a little prayer each day, and That miracle that do happen.
Just a very simple "Thank you" each day is enough.
Sending Saturday blessings to all who look in here x

Good morning :-)
Yes, David has been quiet hasn't he? It's been about a week I think. If anyone hears anything, please let us know how he is.
I only nip in and out of here these days Sylvia, so I missed JC's appearance. Sent her an email yonks ago but no response and she has, usually, responded in the past.
I will certainly give Evelyn your love Tabitha.
For today - still remembering Easter.....
Hang It On The Cross
If you have a secret sorrow, a burden or a loss, An aching need for healing... Hang it on the Cross.
If worry steals your sleep and makes you turn and toss, If your heart is feeling heavy... Hang it on the Cross.
Every obstacle to faith or doubt you come across, Every prayer unanswered... Hang it on the Cross.
For Christ has borne our brokenness and dearly paid the cost To turn our trials to triumph... Hanging on the Cross.

kandj ..
I had also noticed that David has not posted for several days, either on this thread or any other.
That is very unusual for him.
I do hope that he contacted the medics and is OK.
Unfortunately there is no way to contact him other than through GR, unless someone knows his personal email.
We'll just have to wonder, and hope for the best.
Cynthia ............... JC did appear back on the boards about 3 weeks or so ago, but was "testy", even had a major argument with me!
She did seem to have a lot of problems on her hands from her mother to OH, both of whom have major health problems, and the house.

Thank you Cynthia - send her my love - I miss our chats.
I am now a great believer in DNA - For years my family thought my Great Great Grandmother was an unmarried lady and then met someone who took her and the baby on. They married when my Great Grandfather was 9 and then they had 2 girls as well.
Since the DNA tests - it shows the man my Great Great grandmother married was actually the father of her little boy after all. Which is lovely as my mum always use to talk about him. I have several DNA matches to his family now.
I also have a large number of DNA matches for my father and his family - which for me is proof positive., as I never knew his name till I was 18. Now through distant family I know a lot about him.
Have a lovely weekend and know we are never alone, there is always someone looking after us and being there when we need a helping hand.
Take care and keep safe.
