Hello all

Well done Cynthia, unlike you I enjoy gardening although I have to limit my time or my aches and pains aren't good.

Tabitha, I can't say that I have ever seen Touched by an Angel on tv, but it was clearly a God-incidence for you to switch on and watch this when you did.

Maya Angelou has written a beautiful poem........

Touched By An Angel

We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear,
from our souls.

We are weary from our timidity
In the flush of love's light
we dare be brave
and suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be,
Yet it is only love
that sets us free.

(Maya Angelou)

Wow...... how profound it that??!!

Sorry forgot to add this yesterday - Just a little thought sharing.

I had a very strange nights sleep (Saturday into Sunday morning) and woke thinking of days gone past & Sunday mornings when the family were still here.

I was in a very thoughtful frame of mind & turned on the TV for some reason just before 7am, straight into an episode of "Touched by an Angel". I always loved this show so sat & watched.. It was in 2 parts & got so engrossed was still there at 9am when OH found me in floods of tears. It evoked a lot of happy memories & how thankful I was to have seen it. I feel I was meant to see it yesterday, it was there at exactly the right time for me.

It was the last ever episode of the series - Season 9 Episode 22 Part 1 and 2 Its called "I will walk with you " I believe you can see both episodes on You Tube.

I found it so very moving & it reaffirmed my beliefs all over again - I wont say any more as it will ruin the storyline if you haven't seen it..

If anyone else remembers it , I would love to hear your thoughts. -

Looking at the 2 thoughts for the day you both placed on Sunday - It looks like the TV station had us all in mind yesterday. In these very troubled times we need thoughts like these, or shows like Touched by an Angel to show us we are all loved & cared for at al times.

Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Hebrews 13:2

Good afternoon.... :-)

Sorry, I went out to the back garden and got carried away.....it does look a lot tidier now though!! :-D

Each and everyone of us is taken up with what is going on in our world at the moment. This week, we’ll look at how to stay positive during these difficult days.

Limit your intake. Just as too much sugar or salt is bad for you, so it is with bad news. It is said that for those who suffer from depression and anxiety, watching the news, especially 24-hour news, can worsen their symptoms.

Instead of watching non-stop news, choose a single news source and decide how much limited time you’ll spend with it each day. Then stick to your plan.

Lord, help us to limit our intake of bad news but to be free with the spreading of your Good News. Amen.

Hello all

Cleopas and his companion walking the road to Ammaus is well known to Christians, I like to think that Jesus is my companion as I walk around the village streets exercising prayer walking each day.

During these difficult and uncertain times, it's comforting to believe that we are never left alone.

Good morning :-)

Another Sunday - they are coming round quite quickly I find :-)

The Collect (special prayer) for today :

Almighty Father,
who in your great mercy gladdened the disciples
with the sight of the risen Lord:
give us such knowledge of his presence with us,
that we may be strengthened and sustained by his risen life
and serve you continually in righteousness and truth;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

In the Gospel for today, we learn of the two men who were walking to Emmaus, when they were joined by a mysterious stranger!

Hello all

I love all the old songs/singers too.

A cloudy and cold start here this morning. It can only get better. More clearing overgrown ivy for me today.
Lots to do, it's hard work and tiring but fills my time in

"I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength." Philippians 4 v 13.

Make time for the little things that bring you joy today.
Happy Saturday and stay safe everyone.

Good morning :-)

That was a blast from the past......Harry Secombe and 'If I ruled the world'. Haven't thought of that in ages. Thanks Tabitha.

Ending our Living the Resurrection life....

What does Christ's resurrection mean for us today especially in these trying times? Can we make a difference in our lives today, right now, right here when we need it?! We are called by God to live in the power of His resurrection to live a new life – a Resurrection life.

What we do here on earth matters, so we need to pursue the eternal whilst we are doing some good on earth. We need to share the Good News and follow Christ’s example of devotion as we serve others. We serve in the name of Jesus.

Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Thank you Kandj we all have so many blessings to share and be thankful for. Including the love of my little black Shadow, who really wants to sit on my lap when I am working, but its not always possible. So he has his own chair next to me in my little home office (which was OH's till he retired & many years ago my bedroom at my mums house, now ours.

Another song came to mind from the wonderful voice of Harry Secombe.

Have an amazing and safe weekend everyone.

If I ruled the world
Every day would be the first day of Spring
Every heart would have a new song to sing
And we'd sing of the joy every morning would bring

If I ruled the world
Every man would be as free as a bird
Every voice would be a voice to be heard
Take my word, we would treasure each day that occurred

My world would be a beautiful place
Where we would weave such wonderful dreams
My world would wear a smile on its face
Like the man in the moon has when the moon beams

If I ruled the world
Every man would say the world was his friend
There'd be happiness that no man could end
No my friend, not if I ruled the world

Every head would be held up high
There'd be sunshine in everyone's sky
If the day ever dawned when I ruled the world

Good morning :-)

I'd forgotten all about Petula Clark singing that kandj.....thanks for the memories!

Living the Resurrection life.

We need to try and keep our focus and not waiver. What sort of thing distracts and sidetracks us in life? It may be certain friendships or entertainment or, perhaps, emotional issues or bad habits.

What is it that gets in our way and hinders us from living a life that responds to the Resurrection? We have to remember that in Christ, we are a new creation, he died for us.

We are no longer tied to the sins of the past, we have new life – let’s live it for Christ by putting him first and showing others that He is the Lord of our lives.

Father God, we thank you for loving us enough to want to walk with us each day. Help us Lord to include you in every aspect of our lives. Teach us to remember that there is no aspect of life that you’re not interested in. We promise to seek God first in everything! In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Hello and a Happy St George's Day to you all.

I have a flag in the window....... no kidding!!

After today's posting it seems fitting to share the words of this song. Sung way back by Petula Clark and so I don't think this will be a new one for Vera.

Thank you for waking me this morning
Thank you for giving me today
Thank you for every new day dawning
I'll be thanking you.

Thank you for every tree and flower
Thank you for every sky of blue
Thank you, I should be every hour
Truly thanking you.

Thank you for every note of music
Thank you for every song I sing
Thank you for giving me sweet music
Thanks for everything.

Thank you for everything you give me
Thanks for everything we share
Thank you for simply being with me
Thanks for being there.

Thank you for cheering me with laughter
Thank you for every smile you bring
Thank you for now and ever after
Thanks for everything.

Thank you for waking me this morning
Thank you for giving me today
Thank you for every new day dawning
I'll be thanking you.

Thank you for every new day dawning
I'll be thanking you.

I think we have so much to say Thank You for.

Take care and stay safe everyone.

Good morning :-)

A very Happy St. George's day to you. :-D

I got to work in our little patio yesterday - trying to emulate the enthusiasm of my husband - I have decided I fall short! However, I will do my best to keep it tidy if nothing else. :-)

Living the Resurrection life

We name Jesus as Saviour, the One who saved us. Many people have debts of one kind or another. Maybe a mortgage, A new car or, sadly, the consequences of an addiction of some sort. If someone paid off our outstanding debts, how would we feel?

What about Jesus who has paid the biggest amount of all—our spiritual debt? We could never pay for it ourselves, so we need to give our worship, adoration and praise to the risen Lord who has done just that. He died in our place, and His blood has covered our sins.

Lord Jesus, how can we thank You for the great love You have for us. How can we ever repay You for the price You paid on the cross?

How can we, Lord, ever forget the great sacrifice of You, laying down Your life that we may live and have life to the fullest. And how great is Your saving Grace that made us one with the Father, in reconciliation and in life eternal. Amen.

Thank you all for keeping NS in your thoughts.

This is going to go on for months, and we will never really know what precipitated it.

As you know, my daughter and family live in NS, only a matter of hours away from the main area where this happened. OH and I drove through that area years ago, and in fact the train that we take every Christmas to get to our daughter runs on the hillside above the Wentworth Valley, the site of a number of the killings.

Daughter and family actually drive the main road very close to the small village at least twice a summer to reach one of their favourite camp places.

It has always seemed such a peaceful, lovely, very rural area.

Sylvia, The terrible shootings in Nova Scotia were on the news here and in the papers. My first assumption was that the event had taken place in America and I was really surprised when I heard that it had happened in Canada. Every death is devastating for the families involved and my thoughts are with them.

Kandj, how kind of you to think of my brother. He is doing amazingly well and, although on the government vulnerable list, is managing fine. We have much to be thankful for. I don’t know the hymn you have posted today either. Another one to google. You are certainly keeping me on my toes.

Stay safe everyone. God bless.

Hello all

Sylvia, such a tragic event in Nova Scotia, my thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.

Emma, thanks for your HSR poem - so very true.

Tabitha, your M in L is a great age. God bless her.

Pat, I had to smile picturing Priya pulling you along.

Vera, good to know that you and your husband are coping and I hope that your brother is managing too.

Cynthia, thank you for today's post. I now have this familiar beautiful hymn going around in my head.

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given
Jesus Christ, His son.
Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given
Jesus Christ, His Son.

And now let the weak say, "I am strong"
Let the poor say, "I am rich"
Because of what the Lord has done for us.
And now let the weak say, "I am strong"
Let the poor say, "I am rich"
Because of what the Lord has done for us.
Give thanks.

Stay safe everyone x
