Stop sniffling Susan, it ain't becoming and I don't want a damp thread...lol

Oh, the phone calls. I thought I held the record with you at 3 hrs and 40 mins but Daff and you managed 4hrs and 20 mins.

Now, as I had to tell Daff to belt up so I could get a word in and I do the same to you, the pair of you yakking away AT THE SAME TIME must have been interesting..lolol

Talking with Daff when she had one of the little ones there was a nightmare, she would break off to bite their bum frequently....lololol or tickle them until they were in fits of giggles which was infectious so all we did (the 3 of us) was giggle. At that point any adult conversation went out of the window :-D

Those at the Greek restaurant will remember the contest as to who could hike their bosoms the highest :-D I won't reveal the winner but it wasn't me :-( My hubby was amazed at Daff during the contest...lmao Game for a challenge she was!

There are not many people who can make me laugh so much for hours on end.....Daff was one of those people. we spoke often and for hours but never ran out of things to say or laugh about.

If Daff could read what you have all said about her I just know she would not believe or understand why she was so loved....She couldn't see what we could see......She loved this site and all on it.....even those she fell out with occasionally........It wos the meds wot made me do it....she would say..

There will never be another as far as I am concerned.....she was my best friend along side Sue...

Susan who is now sniffing uncontrollably cos I miss her so much :-(

I shall be remembering Daff as such a warm and caring person, but so funny too. I do wish I could have met her. Despite her illness, she put such an effort into the collection for Ash at that terrible time for his family.

It is odd how things happen. Some friends called in for coffee yesterday morning and they mentioned having to dash into the town to pay in some cheques at the bank. We discussed how infrequently we use cheques these days, but they are useful at odd times. I got out my cheque book, to see how long it had been since I wrote one. The last was the donation to the Hospice - so almost a year.

My thoughts will be with Mr Daff and Daff's wonderful family.

Daff was one of the loveliest people I've met...not just from GR but in life. She helped me through many a bad time and I've missed her loads...for selfish reasons I guess because she was so kind to me..but also because I found her such good company. In fact just lately it's been her I have really needed ...didn't realise it was a year since we lost her...but I miss her as much now as I did a year ago.

Her sunstroke is legendary...she was soooooo funny when she was under the influence..........of the SUN obviously *coughs*...I think of Daff often ...mostly with a smile and with love.

Mr Daff just continues to be just as wonderful..his concern for my daughter during her illness was beyond touching. He's shown once again what a fantastic couple they made in my eyes...so well suited. He;'s also in my thoughts. <3

I so envy all those who met her - I only 'spoke' to her a few times on here when I was a newby and just felt her warmth and kindness. She made me feel so welcome and then edged me away once from 'being banned for life' or, should I say, 'being banned from life' and I so appreciated that.

As Jean said 'I wish I had met her'.

What a lady she must have been to evoke such fond, happy and loving memories <3

I too will be remembering our Daff with a smile and thinking of her family.

Many of you will have heard the tale how we first met as young mums overseas in the early 70s and our husbands' jobs and a war in Cyprus meant we lost touch until we 'met' again on one of Hayley's late night threads. I 'm so pleased that we had that chance to renew our friendship and meet up a few times.You can imagine the scene when OH and I called to see her for the first time on our way to take our grandson on holiday in Wales.
Talk?... We hardly stopped for hours, so a 'pop in for coffee' visit turned into a marathon chat... Well we did have over 30 years to catch up.!
Daff was so welcoming and grandson helped her prepare a meal for us all, - 'a dash of this, a shake of that... and let's add some of this too'... We thought it best not to ask, but it tasted great. She was as bubbly as her husband is quiet, but both with a great sense of humour, natural warmth and very caring personalities.

I often read through old threads and messages and smile and can almost hear her voice as she related the latest episode in family life with her cats and princesses.

We miss you my friend, but are richer for knowing you.

Cant remember the first time I met her but ,,,,,,,,she walked in with R (late) and looked a right posh Dutches and R a gent of class....she had lived in the area once,,,,,but Daffy being Daffy lost the way :-D :-D :-D :-D.she was a hit with me.

next time was when she suffered a terrible bout of sunstroke and it confused her so much it made her attack poor Sues ear.....,

I was thinking so much of Daff during the last couple of weeks while viewing christmassy things and how much she loved it.....and at the same time sadness for the whole family........heaven will of course be glitzed to the hilt.

Remembered with fondness and a smile.

Ann, I did make Daff a 'Daff's Army 'card which was inspired by the posters on Daff's thread, the high heeled boots, lime green tights and pink cowboy hats complete with feather and of course lots of bling to name but a few ideas that were put forward by all of us.
I was so pleased that she liked it.

the very last time i saw Daff
we were having breakfast in the park inn Perterbrough
and boy did she have her famous sunstroke
the night before we had helped Mr Daff haul her out of the taxi and into the lift
we had never laughed so much for such a long time
and earliert that night her and i think it was Rach dancing with the belly dancer in the reaustraunt

HOW SPECIAL DAFF WAS TO US ALL IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER <3 <3

I will raise a glass tomorrow Sue.It might just be a glass of red (sunstroke red) ;-) ;-)
That Meet in Peterborough was such a hoot.I have a pic of Daff with her tongue in your ear too lolol and one with the 'clingon' eating next to Daff in the Restaurant .Her face is a picture :-D
I will be thinking of Rob and all her family too tomorrow.x

My memory of Daff is the camelia in my bit of garden, she sent it to me after we had all been sharing our favourite flowers, I told her I had a bouquet of white camelias on my wedding day, quite unheard of in those days usually the wedding flowers were roses or lilies, but I wanted to be different, we swapped ideas for cards and I sent her a scrapbook to get her going, she was and still is a lovely memory, I have a pic of her when her hair was very short but she looked lovely , she had a beauty that came from within, I too shall raise a glass to a very special lady...

Lord, the first time we visited Daff in hospital we were met in the corridor by a couple of nurses who immediately piped up "you must be Sue" :-0

Aghast I was shuffling through my tiny brain as to what devilish things Daff could have told them about me :-S

Fortunately it was my amazing crutch reputation that had preceded me

When Daff's hair first grew back she looked stunning, and I mean STUNNING. I did tell her she looked like a loo brush, which to be fair she did ;-) I was so jealous because I definitely have the wrong shaped head for that style.

She took great delight in telling me she was buying clothes 2 sizes smaller, with that 'glint' she had perfected. Informed her that happily I wasn't vertically challenged like some people so her old trousers would be too short...lolol

She was wickedly funny

I didn't know Daff personally but 'spoke' on here several times,
what a lovely lady she seemed to be, always cheerful and ready with
some very good advice when needed.

She has obviously been very sadly missed by all her friends,
I know I have missed reading her threads.

You all seem to have such happy memories of her, wish I
had been lucky enough to have met her.

Ginnie, I always remember you made her a special card and she absolutely loved it. I think she sent me a photo of it at the time too. Was it one of Daff's army uniform? :-)

Hayley, that was a good meet wasn't it and I can vouch that you stayed sober, don't think you stayed still long enough to drink much. I was sorry to miss Sue and her OH but we had a train to catch.
