Janet

...just something else I have noticed. I decided to search trees for my latest research and found two possibilities. When I clicked onto the name it had a preset message which said
___________________________________________________________
Dear 'Joe Bloggs'

Please would you give me access to view your tree?

Best Regards,

Janet

I eventually realised that I could delete it and enter my own words but for anyone unsure of the system to send such a curt message wouldn't exactly warm them to a potential new relative. It also said that if you didn't want to share your tree please untick the box, but the box is already empty.
It now explains why I have received a message as above from a complete stranger without any reason for asking. .... and which I chose to ignore.-jl

Janet

I've been having a whinge about that message.

I've received a lot of them over the years (more lately, since GR added it to the Search results).

If someone sends me a contact message with some details about who they are looking for, that's good; if someone sends me (basically) I WANT TO SEE YOUR TREE, with NO OTHER information, I now ignore it.

I think it's Bl**dy rude! :-P
