Is this also not the fault of GR staff

I received an email from GR this morning saying my membership would soon be due, and telling me the new rate.
Now, I have been a member of GR since 2004, and came under a grandfather clause in 2007 when ITV bought GR that stated my membership would remain at the rate I was then paying ........... £9.95 per year.

That was the case right up until I paid my dues last year.
The new cost they have quoted me is £15.95 for 12 months, Standard membership ............ that's a 63% increase
In fact, it is more than a 100% increase over last year because I was given a 20% "loyalty discount" that reduced the amount I paid to about £7.80
Now, I DO know that this is much lower than newer members are paying ............... but I was NOT notified in advance

sylvia, I took this from GR's FAQ only 2 days ago, Pay particular attention to the first part of the last paragraph

On your homepage you'll see the date your subscription ends. We will also email you a couple of weeks before the renewal is due just to remind you. You'll be sent an email to the address you registered with and also to your inbox on the site. All you have to do is click on the link in the email and you'll be taken to the renewal page. On the renewal page you can also change which package you have. If you have opted for continuous membership we will still email you to remind you that the payment is going to be taken.

You can also renew by logging into the Genes Reunited website and clicking on the subscribe link on your homepage. You will then be taken through to the renewal payment screen where full instructions will be given.

If you renew your membership 2 weeks before and up to 4 weeks after your renewal date you will be renewing your membership at the price you have always paid. . You can opt for continuous membership where we will automatically take payment from your card the following year. If you renew your annual membership over 4 weeks after the renewal date, you will be renewing your membership at our current prices

in Summery they say they renew your subs at what it's always been then charge you what they like,

IMHO Not very professional and down right misleading

With all respect Roy, that is a totally diffferent issue.

I left GR since being on a continuous membership since 04/05 due to serious health problems with my daughter. When I felt able to return they promptly doubled my sub!

Morning Island, Had a PM from Wend. She cannot get on the board this morning, and has an Essential Maintenance message. She has had to resort to the dreaded i*****ing, and it is raining. She is proper 'P'd' off, and needs cheering up.
Her post, now re-instated, went sometime after midnight and before 6.23 when I posted. It is a pity that the 'itchy fingered one' has nothing better to do at that time of night. What a sad stupid person this is.
And, it is time GR woke up to what is happening and to what it does to people.

on windows 7, I have the tab option.
i normally have two tabs one .za, the other .uk.

for the last day or so my .za has been out of action, and still was, this morning.
rather than delete cookies, I selected the .za tab and deleted several versions of .za tab window ( remove this page)

and I now have .za back again!

Why does all the GR info have to come through Facebook.
I pay my subs to GR.
If I log in from the home page & my log in is accepted I expect to be able to access all the boards, not just odd ones on a hit & miss basis.
Have been getting the essential maintenance message now since early yesterday afternoon, but it wouldn't appear that any maintenance is actually being done. It's just another version of the error message.
If GR are not to blame for the faults, could I ask who is?.......apart from the government who are to blame for everything.

I can still only get on through Google, not through my favourites tab and have lost my old tree. Can only get the dreaded new version. Have tried all the suggested turning off etc, still get the sorry page.

Fed up., too wet to get out in the garden and have to face the Supermarket if we are to eat for the rest of the week. Did someone mention bikkies ??? Or was it cookies ? I know I am being thick but what is za ? M

za is GR South Africa. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see four flags. These are links to GR in those countries but it's all the same views.
Try one to see if it is better for you, if so, save that link and delete your others.
