Granda was a Geordie & I was brought up on stottie or oven bottom cake.
In Birmingham I have seen T***o advertising crusty white bloomers. Puts you off a bit.
Queen Victoria wore bloomers!!!

Where I was born chip butties were popular - thick-cut plain old ordinary white bread with chips and lots of salt and vinegar on them.

Where I lived previously it was a bread roll with chips - same idea though.

Now, Joy, where I live (guess where), it's stotties with chips, salt and vinegar.

Whichever way you have it a chip butty with salt and vinegar is great (but only occasionally!).
