Well, let me tell you. When it was my Mum's funeral, 15 years ago, the funeral was done by the Kerp, as Peter Sellers always called it.
The house was two down from a road junction. We all got in the cars ready to set off, with the hearse, naturally infront. The head undertaker, stood in front of the hearse, and led the procession out of the junction and up the hill. Even a double-decker bus pulled over, and stopped.
I was most impressed. I thought to myself, if it's good enough for the nobs, it's good enough for my old Mum. She would have been very impressed herself.

My stepmother wants a wicker coffin, she has one in her garage all ready. (At least that's what she says, none of us dare go in there to look!!)

Julia,
It means so much to the bereaved when a passerby stops for a moment of respect doesn't it?
Though we did have a nob of the other variety try to cut through the courtege at an aunts funeral - I'd never seen my dad wave his hands about like that at another driver before.

Back on topic 15K??? Well it would have to be on Eastenders wouldn't it? *rolls eyes smiley*
Did some one say 'solid gold handles'? *shakes head at the thought of the stoooopid script writers*

Morning Island.
Showing respect for the dead, really is only good manners, but it means alot to the mourners.
Somethings I have not done for over twenty years is, close my curtains at the time the funeral takes off from the house of someone else on the street, and donate to a collection going around the street, to pay for a wreath from the neighbours. They always used to do that, but I have never seen either around here, as I said, must be twenty odd years.

Solid gold handles, yer 'avin' a larf, aint yer. LOL

PS. Meant to say, I practically go orgasmic, if a man doffs his hat to me, or does the same, and opens a door. Just the simple, but lost things in life.

Julia.....I was offered a seat on the bus by not one but two men last week :-0
It's safer to be seated especially the way they drive here but I'm afraid I thought "Blimey! do I looked that cream crackered!"
It's a double edged sword!

Yep I was having a laff about the solid gold handles.

But undertakers reckoned Pat had a heart of gold, so I thought I would embellish a bit.

Wash my mouth out with soap and water.

Sooooo, Wicksy came back to lay a bunch of flowers on his dear old Mums grave.

I really, really hope he doesn't come back into it.

Where do all these Brannings keep coming from.

We don't want to start with the Wicks clan again.

Sorry to see David go. Mind you it must have been hard for him to be a villian and a doctor at the same time. lol

Ajm I the only one who does not really CARE about Eastenders anymore?

I dont care about Ian and Mandy.

I dont care about the Brannings. They are all pantomime characters.

I am bored with the Masoods.

The Kat and Alfie story has become tedious.

The only one I have a shred of sympathy for, is poor put upon Ricky.
and now hes gone.

He is only going into the one Phil owns because they have formed a 'partnership' because he sussed out that Phil was running something dodgy. I don't like him either, he gives me the creeps and I wish they would get away from the 'criminal fraternity' aspect.
