Ahem, I was watching carefully................. they chose cherrywood for the box.

Supposedly they also chose solid gold fittings too.

I got the impression that the Undertaker was a 'personal friend' of Pats.

Ugh.

Jolly nice of Janine to stump up for the price of the funeral though.

Has she had a personality transplant?

:-D

Yes we thought £15k was a bit steep, and that was WITH the discount that Pat's undertaker offered lol :-D

Island Report 10 Jan 2012 12:44

Janine? personality change. Only temporary I'd think. Don't forget she still holds the loana greement on the house. What is the betting she will tell them all to get out so she can sell it to recoup the money?

Helen in Kent

Helen in Kent Report 10 Jan 2012 15:46

I think my father's funeral, about 6 years ago, was just over £5000, crematorium, vicar, 2 cars, a few flowers, copies of death certificates. The most expensive bit was that he died on holiday in Worthing and we had to get him back to North London.

Did anyone see that news story a while back about a family who bought an air ticket for their dead father or grandfather and pretended he was alive because it was cheaper t move him alive than dead? Gross!!!!!

AnninGlos Report 10 Jan 2012 16:34

Yes I saw that Helen. it would be my luck to sit next to him. Imagine asking him to move to get out for the loo!!
We did know od somebody whose husband died on holiday in Lanzarote. She had him cremated and shipped his ashes home in her suitcase.

IGP. Not a programme that you watch I am sure. :-D

Sorry Not read all the thread....but the horse and carriage with the big things on their head has been adopted as the wannabee think they are gangster funerals up here like the Eastend like a badge of honur or a status symbol in the so called criminal world, there is nothing glamious about glorifeid thugs and criminals at all I think its tacky and would be rather dragged to my funeral in a wheely bin tied to the back of a dustmans cart :-D

Uncles is next week and its all the little bits that add up crematorium wanted £250 for casket for ashes undertakers asked £75. have to pay extra charge to crematorium as he is being cremated somewhere else so charging £85 to allow him to be burried there. cremation site is £5000 thats for him and when other uncle goes hes goingin with him and as he said its only a hole with a rock on top.

Non religious cremation is just over £3000.

Aunt who died this time last year had a wicker coffin and it was lovely and would really consider it may even put it into my funeral plan thats what I want.

Eldest watchered Eastenders with me last night and looked at me when they said price said its ok me and your dad have got pre paid funeral plans quick as a flash she said what about the hole have you paid for that. Ever the loving practical daughter lol
