I didn't have my single stone zapped, it was apparently the size of a grain of rice so was small enough to pass through but the darned thing got itself into some part of my kidney that made the pain terrible, only relieved by a pethidine injection as I was seen by the consultant in a and e at the old N and N.

I just googled Zapping kidney stones and this site seems to have some answers, there are others with info on too. There is a home remedy on the site below as well. Bear in mind pain and discomfort with the stones if they move out of the kidney and on their way, and the treatments too, are very different for men and women.

Good luck, let us know how you get on

hi liz,i went to the james paget as i live just outside yarmouth,
they have been very quick with my different appointment's,there has only been a week between each one,i am not sure how long i will have to wait to see the consultant this time but i hope it is soon,
i just want to be pain free without medication,
do you have to have a anaestetic to have the stones zapped or can they do it while you are awake.

Sue, did you go to James Paget or N and N?

I am in Norwich and had mine treated at the old N and N. I am sure whichever hospital it is they will have the zapper available to break up the stone and make it into smaller pieces that will pass easily.

Take care, and as Uzzi said, I am usually around in the wee small hours, if you will excuse the wording lol

Poor Sue, will stay thinking of you and hope the stone passes naturally in the end, or at least comes 'unstuck'. And I hope 2012 will be a better year for you. 2011 has not been a good year here, not for our own health reasons but because we have lost four good friends. I do hope 2012 is a better year.

i am hoping to see him soon with xmas creeping up on us,
i am still in pain so i was wondering if i have a stone stuck and it is causing a blockage.

Hi Sue

Please try and stay strong and believe in yourself and all your family..
I have been through some very very dark times and done things that I am not proud of.....but please believe there is light at the end of what seems a very very long tunnel....

The future is bright whether that be tomorrow, next week, next year or the year after........I wish you luck and more than anything else please believe in yourself.......It Will happen trust me..... :-) <3

Sue stay strong and remember that GR is here for you should, when you need them. Often when times seem down and familar faces don't seem right to talk to GR people are the ones to turn to.
Good luck on Wednesday but do remember there is always somebody here if you need. Even late night which Liz is good at.

thank's for your response, it just seem's to be one thing after another,
not sure what will happen at the hospital, i suppose it depend's on what the scan showed,
it has been extemely painful & still is but at the moment it is bearable with pain killer's.
i am not very keen on taking tablet's but could not cope without them for the last 3 week's,
i do not know if they have a zapping machine here on the norfolk coast but i am praying they do as surgery hold me full of dread.

I have had kidney stones and they hurt! I do feel for you, after all you have been through especially.

Drink lots of water to try and flush anything through that will go. I hope the hospital will treat you quickly, by zapping the stones if they are able to so they pass easily. Mine was the size of a grain of rice apparently and eventually I must have passed it as it disappeared, doctor said had I heard it ping in the toilet pan? Fgs, how forcefully did he think I pass water lol? I was in hospital twice before it went tho, with the pain etc, and also had to have a camera inserted to check it was gone. No more stones since then, about 12 years or more, I make sure I drink lots of liquid as I don't want to go through that again. I do sometimes take cranberry extract tablets as the cranberry drinks are very much watered down and expensive.

Good luck on Weds, glad your Mum is doing well and hope your sister in law can fight back to have more time with you all.

just a moan ,since aug this year it has been all illness,
thank's to you all on here who have given me prayer's & thought's,i keep positive.

it started in august with my mum being on life support with sepsis &multipul organ failure, she is recovering well now after we were told she would die,she was in hospital for 6 week's,
then when she was getting better my sil was diagnosed with 4 types of cancer, she has had radium &is now on chemo, the outlook does not look good for her, but we stay positive.

now after what i thought was a water infection,i had to have a abdominal scan, the doctor phoned me 2 day's later to say i have kidney stones,i have to go to the hospital on wednesday,i know this is not as bad as the other 2 illness's in the family but we do need a break,it seem's everything is going wrong for the last part of 2011.so i hope & pray 2012 come's soon & with better luck for my family's health.

well i have had my moan thanh you for listening,
