4000 people!! A huge number of people to have their phones hacked.
Murdochs son made the decision.
Brooks in tears! Sob! Sob!
The paper has the reputation of brutality! Well, now it's a victim of its own brutality.
Calls from staff for Brooks to go. If I was affected by this, I would want to PUSH the bitch!!

Someone just made an interesting point on Sky news...how many of those disgruntled, soon to be ex employees will now be more than happy to cooperate fully with the inquiries ..who,maybe prior to this, would have been more minded to keep their heads down and keep their mouths shut x

Well, time will tell Muffy.
Me thinks this will be a long running saga, and cost millions.

I find the thought of them hacking a dead kids mobile, giving false hope to her family.

Most of the employees working on the NOTW would have been working on the Sun anyway, so I can't see very many job losses, the same advertising agents in their offices, who would actually sell to both papers as a package, the same printers, the same production crew, and the same journalists, so the only people who may be at risk is the editor...

I used to work in the advertising department of a newspaper, and we sold ad space to ALL publication, journalists reported for ALL our publications, all our publications were sent to the same printers, we had the same production crew. That's how it works.

The former editor Rebekah Brooks, and chief executive of Murdoch’s News International newspaper, has faced growing pressure to resign.

She's been a great pal of Tony Blair's for a very good while!

........ and Cameron's too I hear.......had a little cosy meal at Christmas Muffy. ;-)

Dermot

Dermot Report 7 Jul 2011 18:54

It's a good day to 'bury' some bad financial news - lack of care for the elderly, for example.

Where is Peace Envoy, Mr Blair, when we could do with his services (or maybe not).

No he's banking on bigger sales this Sunday as it is the last ever edition, he's hoping people will buy as collectors (rather than go ahead with the boycott. But to counter any claims of cashing in on it, he's had to say proceeds will go to charity.

He's also giving a message that he doesn't need it...

I'd like to see the Sun closed down next, as that is another disgusting rag full of lies and comtempt for people.

That only goes to reiterate the question over the Prime Minister's judgement in taking Andy Coulson on as Press Advisor...

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 7 Jul 2011 20:36

LMAO TW..have you read up on Red Ed's spin doctor Tom Baldwin !!!....Not being partisan or anything ... it just seems to me that the best way to succeed in the spinning war is to hire someone who has worked on the *other side* of the industry....x

TeresaW

TeresaW Report 7 Jul 2011 20:42

Yep, poor judgement goes for both sides of the house Muffy, particularly in regard to the press. I would guess their philosophy is keeping friends close and enemies closer! Unfortunately its all come back and bitten them on the b*m. In fact, it's been gnawing away at them for a while.

Coulson set up page3.com, (according to Wiki) I wonder if that was on his CV?

eeeeee by eck.....evil breeds off evil and watch them turn on their own....

TeresaW

TeresaW Report 7 Jul 2011 21:12

There's a rather good profile on Coulson by the Guardian prior to the election, so are we wondering about the wisdom of his position with the govt with hindsight, or is it just stating the bleedin' obvious?

Uggers

Uggers Report 7 Jul 2011 21:29

I am so chuffed to see the papers' power shaking :-)

Dermot

Dermot Report 7 Jul 2011 21:37

It's not often we see a newspaper being front-page news in it's own publication.

Perhaps 'Joe Public' will now be treated with a little honour, dignity & respect - for a time at least. In America, they call that 'service experience'.
