Fell on their sword before someone stabbed them.

Jolly good news too.

Dermot Report 7 Jul 2011 17:04

The other Newspapers will be happy to see a competitor disappear.

Crocodile tears no doubt.

I'm sorry for the 'ordinary' workers who have lost their jobs, hopefully the editor(s) will be brought to account if the allegations are true.

Statement says 'revenue from the last edition will go to good causes'.

I honestly think they were considering closure through financial non-viability and/or really shocking further revelations.

Just my opinion of course.

It's a small loss in the Murdoch empire - he'll lose little sleep over this petty hiccup.

Watch out for an increase in his other publications here & worldwide.

One door closes as another opens.

Wonderful news. It's just a pity the innocent employees will suffer by losing their jobs.

Hope the corrupt police involved are severely dealt with, and the editors at the time the phone hackings were happening go down with them.

My late father would never allow this paper in the house when I was a kid, and I found out why when I got older. It was just full of vile "stories".

Any Editor who might end up in jail for a spell as a result of this debacle will have a chance to mingle & compare notes with a few miscreant ex-MPs - the ones that the now defunct Newspaper looked down on so very recently.

Real bedfellows - don’t you think?

Grabagran

Grabagran Report 7 Jul 2011 18:09

It takes me all my tine to use MY moblie, never mind hacking anyone else's.

The thought of someone being so evil, doing this to the families of lost service personnel, missing/murdered people, is sickening and inhumane.

My thoughts go out to all those ordinary families affected by the thoughtless acts of a private investigator, corrupt police, and sicko editors.

Not all those affected are superstars!!!!!!

The former editor Rebekah Brooks, and chief executive of Murdoch’s News International newspaper, has faced growing pressure to resign.
She's been a great pal of Tony Blair's for a very good while!

Grabagran

Grabagran Report 7 Jul 2011 18:28

Yeah, was reading about her. She was had up for assaulting her ex hubby, the actor Ross Kemp.

I've never trusted MP's and this once again shows the corruption that goes on in the government. Maybe that's why Gordon Brown didn't get on with Blair!

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 7 Jul 2011 18:29

To be fair Mau she's friendly with David Cameron too...she's a very powerful lady ! I don't think either side of the House Of Commons can claim any moral high ground where relations with Murdoch are concerned...they're both equally guilty of cosying up to him and his minions.
