Thanks girls, I had a text from him, well one of many, and he said he has had a scan and they found clots in both lungs, the pharmacist went to see him this afternoon to talk to him about warfarin, not sure why. No word about coming home yet. |

Yippeee, had a text and he may be coming home tomorrow, I've missed him so much, been put on warfarin for six months at least, I thought that was rat poison. |

dont worry about the warferin caz,its quite a common medication for the prevention of clots,my sister had it injected into her stomach when she had a clot in the lung age 42,also my brother for a d.v.t at the age of 32 and again at 40.and my daughter age 21 after an emergency c section, sent home after 2days with a box of syringes and a load of warferin to inject herself in the stomach to prevent clots forming.dont worry.x :-D |

Thank you girls it's lovely to read all your messages, I don't feel so alone. I have had a few sleepless nights, wandering round drinking endless cups of tea, I am muddling through as best I can, my lovely sister did my shopping for me yesterday so I have plenty to eat. They are also going to pick Philip up when we hear he can come home, they told him it may be today now he has started his warfarin. |

Caz I hope you are managing alright while Phill is in hospital. My Dad took warfrin for seven years to prevent more blood clots / further strokes. He had his blood tested regularly and the dose altered accordingly. He had to go to the hospital at first to get the blood test done (by finger prick) then more recently he got it done at home. He kept a record book which went to the hospital with him, or was updated at home later. I believe some foods/ drinks affect the warfrin, and Phill could be advised to avoid certain stuff. Another nurse told us it didn't matter so there is some confusion there!! But he will be kept under supervision by way of the blood tests. Don't worry it is rat poison but not enough to cause harm, thats why people on it are watched carefully xx |
