I live just outside the city centre of Southampton. Have lived here 40years approx. 15 minutes from New Forest . Not so keen on city but there are some beautiful areas not far away. Originally from rural North Hertfordshire.

Eddie, not even your attutude to all things and all people non Devonian, aswell as women, would not put me of going to Devon, as I have done for many years.

Jude, Bexhill. Nice little place,except for the Councillors.One left us a Legacy before he went. A load of Concrete Balls in Devonshire Square.The others are now destroying the Seafront.**M**.

In Essex, not been here long, miss my home town, but wouldnt change anything.

I live in a small village in Snowdonia, near the sea, and I love it here. We don't have any of the major stores, supermarkets, DIY etc within 50 miles, but the small town 12 miles away provides most things.
Far from loathing the tourists, we welcome them. They are an important part of the local economy, there being very little else except farming in the area. Without the tourists I doubt we would have what shops we do have.
Being priviledged to live in this beautiful area it is gratifying to know that people from other areas choose to spend their valuable time and money among us for a week or two in the holiday season.

I live on the outskirts of Winchester in Hampshire, lovely county and beautiful countryside, with excellent access to London and the south.
Have the new forest on the doorstep, and should you want to visit large shopping places there is Southampton and Portsmouth very near.
Was born in London, but would hate to have to live there now.

I also live In North Wales - Conwy County but born and bred in Liverpool.

Both the town I live in and the town I work in rely heavily on holiday makers to boost our economy, a large percentage of our job opportinities are because of holiday makers and many our seasonal.

I too like the holiday season but have to admit that I welcome the end of October every year when I can walk on the pavements without bumping into someone who suddenly decides to stop "dead" - I normally walk on the road and take my chances with the traffic, much safer. lol

Wouldn't have it any other way though. I used to holiday here myself and loved it - that's why I come to live here in the first place.

I live in Monmouthshire, the countryside part and it is beautiful. Getting a bit overrun with incomers now, but the country and villages stay the same. Lots of older residents prefer not to shop in Monmouth now as too many people with no understanding of our slower way of life getting here now.

I live in South East Wales, near to Ebbw Vale in Gwent.
Also not far from Abergavenny... I think Jude was reffering to me when she mentioned it :)lol

I was brought up in a small country village mid way between those 2 towns, Clydach, an idyllic place to live when I was a child,but the school , post office and shops,even the pubs have now closed ,no mains gas, no telephone box.

When we married we moved near to Ebbw Vale , where we both worked..
It's much higher up than Clydach,but has beautiful views and closer to amenities.I can walk to the 2 nearest towns (opposite directions)in 20 mins.
The Steelworks have closed but the site has been rejuvenated with a most up to date hosp being one of facities there, we had the very last Garden Festival in 1991,whilst retaining some of the'country' features is now an out of town large shopping outlet.
It's a lot colder but it's where we made our home and children grew up , we get a fair dose of snow (4 inches fell today) we have good (some not so good ) neighbours. We have a scenic park area a minute away,with a natural lake, which I walk thro nearly every day...so yes I like living where we are:))

I live in Winchester, have done for the past 20 odd years - prior to living here, I'd moved 27 times - before I was 30!
I live in a solid-built 1920's council house - the first place I've ever lived with full central heating and double glazing.
Not sure if it's Winchester or the house that stops me from moving, having previously lived in chilly caravans, a converted double decker bus, draughty houses and even a tent for 6 months - a snug house is very tempting!
Winchester is a lovely place, with easy access via public transport (I don't drive) to Southampton, Portsmouth, Petersfield etc.
I've loved lots of the other places I've lived too. Mevagissey, Horrabridge in Devon, The Shetlands, Kirkpatrick Fleming (Dumfries & Galloway), Callington. Lossiemouth, Malta - all had their appeal, some had their 'downside' - isolation, accommodation etc.

I live in Australia just south of Sydney between the mountains and the sea. I was born in England but grew up here in Aus. I love the UK and I've seen many places as a "tourist". No matter where I've been people have been warm and welcoming and more than happy to show off their beautiful towns or villages. One of my favourite places is Devon. I have ancestors from Lympstone, Dawlish, Whimple, Rockbeare and various other places in the area but I guess I'm still a tourist. Remind me not to look you up next time I'm in your part of the lovely Devon, Eddie.

My better half lived at Jubilee Road,Lydney and it turned out my Great Uncle x2 had lived in the same street 2 house's up.
