February might be better, thats if no one disagrees. People seem too busy at the moment to think about it. Jude hadnt even looked at the thread, she has been so busy.

Am beginnning to think Jean along those lines myself. This bad weather - chances of anyone reaching Southampton for the sailing are remote.

What date should we set sail? February? March?

Jean (Monmouth) Report 21 Dec 2010 10:06

I'd offer OH as Captain, but not Captain material I'm afraid. How about asking Merlin? No Perishable goods on board yet, so there is still time to cancel due to bad weather and have the cruise at a later date. I was sure Santa would have wanted to be aboard for a rest!

Jean so glad he turned up - checks list - cannot see us ready for Sunday - no Captain or engine room crew!!!!

Jean (Monmouth)

Jean (Monmouth) Report 20 Dec 2010 19:44

I am not sure yet whether there will be enough staff to offer breakfast in cabins. It might be the best I can do for my passengers, to put out a selection of cereal packets, sugar and milk. Not what our passengers expect on holiday. Did say this might be a DIY holiday,.
There is a nice young steward I have seen, brings out my motherly instincts! Any other instincts are nul and void!

Jean, bless you. You have been a busy bee, I will give you a hand when I get aboard. Cant wait to sail to sunnier climes, I've had enough of this cold weather.

Jean you are working your socks off - I have been trying to recruit more staff and passengers but not much luck. Keep the flag flying!!

Jean (Monmouth) Report 18 Dec 2010 19:04

Well, I reported on board to sart readying the cabins last Saturday, and very few crew seem to have turned up. You may find this will be a D.I.Y holiday! I have decided the cabins i will look after and they all have a good view of the sea, which looks pretty cold at the moment. Have had a pretty hard struggle to get enough pillows, of all things. Apparently in short supply because all those Santas on a health kick have needed pillows to fatten their appearance up. But I have been promised enough by Friday. Wont stock the fridges till Christmas day, after the crews party. If iI leave strong drink in them there will be none in the morning! Fresh flowers ordered for delivery from the Channel Islands. Chef is still debating whether people will have had enough turkey by the time they join, and maybe will do smoked salmon or goose instead. See you all on Boxing Day, bring your hangovers and the crew will administer their favourite cures.

Sorry Chris I obviously didn't read the first entry properly. Leaving Boxing Day will be fine but I'm not sure what I am going to say to the twenty or so people who are expecting to come to our house for a new years eve party!!!
Don't forget to pick me up on the way PLEASE.

As long as I get adequate notice so I can join a fortnight before passengers I have no preference. Looking forward to trying out the beds in those cabins before they are allocated.

AnninGlos Report 9 Dec 2010 10:07

Just a thought, maybe the title isn't attracting people. Maybe work the word cruise into the title?
