Anng I think most of our buses have air conditioning, it must have quite uncomfortable sitting in the stuffy bus ,when I use to go to Norwich with dil we use to make sure we sat on the side of the bus that was shaded from the sun ,it was drivers side coming home and the other side going .

Vera I just had a look and tesco and morrisons both have Sarsons gravy browning in a bottle but I'm sure there use to be gravy browning in a little yellowy box .
Now had a look for bisto on amazon , are you sitting down ....over 9 pound for a big box :-0 :-0

Phew, it’s hot. We shouldn’t be complaining, should just be pleased to see the sun but could we please have it just a bit cooler and less humid. At the moment it’s still 25 degrees and is likely to reach 28 tomorrow. Head is aching now and I think it’s going to be a hot sticky night so the headache will probably still be there tomorrow. Oh well, it could be worse. It could be snowing ;-)

It sounds like a good trip to Cheltenham AnnG, even if it was a hot ride back on the bus. At least you have buses. We heard today that another of our buses is going to be changed. At the moment there is a bus that goes from here to Ipswich every 2 hours. It’s not very convenient as the first available bus when you can use the bus pass is 11.15 which goes all round the houses so doesn’t arrive until about 12.30. Then it’s a real rush to get your shopping and, if time, grab a sandwich before getting the only suitable bus back. Now we hear this service is only going half way to Ipswich so we would have to get off and wait for another service coming from elsewhere to take us the rest of the way. I know we’ll have to stop driving before too long so goodness knows how we will manage.

Glad you got your scripts Mel. Did you get your teeth back OK? I hope not too many of your plants were damaged when the stand fell over.

What a shame the bell ringers didn’t quite make the full peel Mandy. I wonder if they’ll try again. I couldn’t get Bisto powder in the Co-op either today so I hope Roy’s don’t stop doing it. I might be reduced to using cornflour and gravy browning. Can you still buy gravy browning?

Picked up my scripts and then went to Torrington. Came home and had a sandwich and have been cleaning my pond filter and trying to sort out these plants where the stand fell down. The decking in front of my shed has all rotted so that needs replacing more expensence!!

So Ann you had a little spend up I did'nt buy anything today not even an icecream at the Hockings van I was a good girl and came straight home.

Its 23 degrees here but feels a lot hotter but there is a little breeze.

Back from Cheltenham. I went in early so managed to get to M&S for a look round, it is much bigger than Gloucester store. Bought a top as I had 20% off offer and a pair of pyjama shorts. I have tops that will go with them.

It was nice to meet up with our friends, there were 5 of us. Two of them have now gone to the theater to see Cluedo. We had coffee and lunch in the theater bar.

It was very hot on the bus coming home. It is 25 degrees here now, very muggy.

A lovely bright morning here and 19 degrees at the moment pc just says sunny.

I have loads to do today as I have to go and pick up my teeth and go and pick up my scripts as they had'nt got one item in and I have been without it for three days now.

When I went in the garden this mroning my big plant stand outside the shed with loads of plants on has fallen forwards onto the grass and all the plants are everywhere so that has to be sorted today too. Its BIL fault as he moved the prop to mow and never puts it back and I had'nt noticed.

Yes Mandy it only takes one wrong strike to destroy a peel on 5,000 changes and they ring to a pattern which is in their heads. They were nearly through too such a shame and for good ringers thats a double shame. The person who taught oh and I to ring has rung in St Pauls and many other London churches.

Bit hazy here but the suns shining and it should get hot later.

Mel that sounds a lot of money to take a tree down and leave you all tye wood to clear up is it because it's Ash that they don't want it , is it a big tree I can't remember if we've seen it in photos .

Yesterday there was bell ringers at the church from the Ancient society of college youths from St Paul's cathedral and Westminster Abbey trying an attempt of a peel of 5,000 changes if they had succeeded it would have been the 150th peel on the bells .
The first peel on the bells was on 3rd June 1754 and the last one was in 2015 ,they rang for over two hours then it went wrong on a change so they didn't do it .
We sat listening and you could tell they were good ringers as they were really quick and so different from our ringers .
It was a bit noisy after a while as they started cutting the churchyard grass so with bells and the cutter going we came inside .

Good morning all 12 degrees here, dry and sunny, maybe another nice day. but that means more watering. I only did the tomatoes yesterday but better do all the pots today I think.
Probably going to cheltenham later to meet a couple of friends for coffee.

That sounds quite a lot to cut your Ash tree down Mel, but I suppose if it's very big and with how costs have gone up it could be about that much. When we and our neighbour both had our tall Pine trees cut down a couple of years ago it cost £650 for the two of them. No cherry picker was needed as they climbed the trees with safety harness and spiked shoes to near the top and used chainsaws to cut the branches and trunk in sections they toppled to the ground as they came down. Is your Ash tree dead, only I expect it wouldn't be safe for workmen to climb it if so? I can't remember what you said about needing to cut it down.

OH had headaches again last night so had a lie in while I went to have a look around the factory shop. When I got back he had hoovered all through and done a bit of weeding. I went out for a short weeding session this afternoon, but only had half a humper full when I decided to stop, as the sun came out and it was too hot for me. Still every weed pulled out is a weed and it's seed less! At the moment I think the weeds are winning as the rain has made them easy to pull out, but has also made more grow!

Felt tired at 5 past 5 so threw myself on the bed and woke at 7.25pm. Had'nt done the chickens so I shot round there as they weere ready for bed.

Yes I have but you have to understand that things have to come through my archway into the garden and this chap has a very narrow cherry picker that would come down here very easily. The other thing is its very near my shed.

Mel, have you thought about getting a second or third quote for that?

I took it as the RNLI as I could'nt think of anything with the letters that way round. :-D

Been to the post van and had a man down to look at my Ash tree. Its going to cost me about £1200 to have it down but they would leave the fat trunk. They said it would be three men all day and they don't take the wood away just chop up the small branches in the muncher and it would be up to me to sell the wood.

its 19 degrees here now and pc says partly sunny and I think its right but there are some grey clouds coming over.

Bright and sunny this morning and 17 degrees. It’s supposed to get hot this afternoon. I was very hot during the night and had to have the fan going.

Enjoy your U3A talk AnnG. Who or what is the LNRI? I couldn’t find anything when I googled, or did you mean the RNLI?

I’m just going to shower and then we are off to Colchester. We’re having lunch at the theatre there and then going to a matinee performance of The Mousetrap. It’s the 70th anniversary touring production so should be good. Can you believe that play has been running for 70 years?

I slept really well too ad did'nt get up in the night for the loo.

Good morning all. sunny out there and 11 degrees. Slept really well last night. Must be the effect of all that lavender. Not that this time the perfume was very notable, it need to be sunny for that but it obviously absorbs into the body.
Nothing planned this morning but it is U3a monthly meeting this afternoon. I am being picked up at 1.40. Somebody talking about the LNRI.

I'm backj from the dentists another £24 lighter. He still wants to take the rest of my teeth out!!!! he gave me an examination which is why I was charged and told me they would repair it and I could pick it up on Thursday or I could go to the place they repair them in Barnstaple. I think I am going to have the same thing happen again so watch this space as my bottom tooth is the one that the top tooth clicks on since the repair. Somehow they have changed the bite when they repaired the front teeth that broke off.

Anyway went to Lidl afterwards and bought a few bits and then went to Torrington common and had a lovely Hockings icecream and came home. On the way there they had diversions up so I could'nt go the way I knew but turned round to try and get through Langtree but there were diversions there to and ended up back where I started and this made me a bit late to get the car parked and walk up the hill which took me ages today. Then I got stuck by a lady who wanted to talk outside the dentists and she was going in there too. My appointment was for £.30pm and I got in ther at 22 mins past so I was on time but had to wait twelve mins before I was called to go up the stairs.

Ann I am mostly doing the garden with afew miniatures inbetween. I did have a little go at some polyclay things yesterday and made myself another hanging pheasent for when I do my Tudor kitchen. I made one a while ago but do you think I can find where I put it. I had'nt painted it and was so cross I could'nt find it as I fancied having a go at it yesterday when I could'nt get in the garden for the rain. Its been a lovely day today it had rained inthe night but was dry by morning.

Sounds like you enjoyed your day at the Lavender fields and walked around while it was dry which was good. Shame about the cafe' but you had a nice meal booked anyway.

I meant to tell you that over the last few days since the begining of the weekend the Swallows have been going int he filter shed. I had removed Jeny's nest but they don't really like me being inthere and I don't want t stop them building if they are going to but its a bit late I think.

Tired now and hav'nt sorted anything for dinner tonight that I can eat so I better do the chickens and see whats for dinner.

It sounds as though you were lucky rainwise at the lavender fields AnnG and managed a walk round while it was dry. The wild flower meadow sounded nice but it's a shame the proper cafe has gone, but a nice lunch to follow was good.

Your talk was good then Vera and you came away with a bottle of wine as well. I have the same trouble with cleaning our fixed kitchen window behind the sink and, as OH washes up by hand the few things we need every day, it gets splatterings from the sink as he isn't as careful. It's a smallish window and the conservatory is behind it which means the outside of it is easy to clean and OH seems to be deaf whenever I ask him to do it, so I try to clean it with a microfibre pad on a stick standing on a stool. Gone are the days when I would get onto the worktops to reach to clean! I suppose being a small window it wouldn't cost a lot to replace it with one of those windows that pivot in the middle so you can reach both sides. Too much other expense just now though. When my first OH gutted the kitchen at my last house I made sure the sink wasn't under a window which was much better although there was no view from the sink then.

It's always a relief when the car passes the MOT Mandy so that's good and done for another year now! I'd never seen Linseed fields till a few years ago either, but as we drove by the field today it has either gone over now or the flowers were tight shut because of the rain, so no blue anywhere. I've never seen a field of Borage. It's good young Lewis felt well enough to go back to school. I remember we did more fun things at the end of term.

Mel we've had no blue sky here, just shades of grey with a bit of white. You were lucky having no subs this time. It isn't often that I get none. Are you mostly making your miniatures now or do you think there will there be more Tudor people?
