Mel, I buy Elmlea all the time because of the long shelf life. The blue pack can be used the same as you would use double cream. I find it very useful to keep in the fridge then it’s always handy if I fancy cooking a recipe that needs double cream. I’m glad the trip to the dentist was OK.

You had a good deal on your jacket AnnG. Why is it when you see something you’d like to buy they only have it in very small or very large sizes? Depending on the make I need a 12 or a 14 and they always seem to sell out first. I detest shopping at the best of times and really, really hate shopping for clothes for me. It must be a difficult time for your grandson and his wife. I think you said they had 2 little boys. I hope they can sort everything out as amicably as possible and keep life as normal as possible for the children.

Today has been mostly sunny and dry but, my goodness, it’s been blowing a hooly. I washed clothes and bedding and nearly got blown over hanging it out. Twice I had to rescue one of OH’s shirts from a flower bed and the sheets were flapping like sails. I thought the whole rotary line would take off at any minute. It was all dry just after lunch and smells all fresh. It makes a change from the previous few weeks when I’ve had to dry everything indoors.

Yesterday our neighbour brought us in 2 big chunks of Guinness gingerbread as he had been cooking for a charity tea. Today he has been cooking via Zoom with his grandchildren overseas so he has brought us in blueberry yoghurt cake. We are so lucky with our neighbours in our little Close.

I’ve felt quite strange today - very tired and sort of light headed. It’s a bit like the early stage of a migraine.but it hasn’t developed. I think I’ll have a quiet evening and an early night.

Sending a wave to say hallo to everyone who posts from time to time ~~~~~~~~~~~. Hope you are all OK.

:-D :-D. :-D @ AnnG. I look forward to the higher cabbages and hope the heavy shells contain some pearls

They were married in 2012 but were together two or three years before that. They still get on, still are friends but he is very quiet and introverted and doesn’t like crowds and big parties while she is over the top the exact opposite very extrovert and loud.

Well according to the sub titles on the weather forecast we are going to get slightly higher cabbages tomorrow then cabbages will drop later in the week and we will get heavy shells.??

O dear I suppose they were'nt getting on well then Anng. Had they been together long?

Popped into Em's and took her the flowers and she still has the ones from her birthday only one vase of tulips going over which was in the window. Gave her two big leeks and kept three smaller ones for myself. Asked he how she did those cheesey leeks and she said she frys them and adds double cream and lots of grated cheese andbakes them in the oven. They were so nice but I did'nt buy any double crem. I nearly did but bought that elmles stuff instead as it has a longer shelf life.

£23 is cheap for a check up. doesn't the dentist clean your teeth Mel. I think our check ups are £35. Anyway good you don't need anything doing. And nice to have a good spend in a different supermarket.
I had two ready meals last night, well one ready meal, fish pie and half a ready cauliflower cheese. Both were really nice.
I needed to post two correspondent magazines this morning so needed to get them weighed etc at the post office. It was raining when I got up but by 10 o'clock it was looking dry so I went to town. gosh it was sooo windy. good job I am over weight or I would have blown away. It was really difficult to keep my balance walking for the bus although it was ok in town.

I posted the packets in the main post office then had a coffee, then just a wander some time back friend and I both bought a pair of grey checked trousers in M&S I have only worn mine once as they are a bit thin for cold weather. last week in M&S Cheltenham they had a sale on and they had the matching jacket but oniy had sizes 14 and 22. today In Gloucester they had one of the jackets only, and it was an 18. I tried it on and it fitted so I bought it. £22 instead of £39.50. So I had a good morning. got home just before two.

Just had a message from eldest grandson to say he and his wife have jointly applied for divorce. Should be finalised in 6 months.

All went well at the dentists nothing hazd to be done and I paid £23 odd pound just to sit in his chair and him have a look at my teeth and gums. I could have done that myself!!! Then I went into the town and got myself two more house keys cut as I can't find oh's anywhere They cost me £4 each and the front door one dos'nt go in the outside of the door but works on the inside same as the one I already had.

Then I went into Lidl and bought everything I wanted I can't get in Asda like cheese coleslaw which is cut nice and fine and Asda's is so thick I can't get my teeth through it. I bought fish finger and two stew and dumpling meals a lasagne and some southern fried chicken which has gone in the freezer. 6 packs of dark choc digestive biscuits, other biscuits two plastic easter eggs with sweets inside for the boys as one of them dos'nt eat chocolate, some flowers for Em as I forgot her birthday last week and other things. Came out of there £50 lighter too. So I have had a very good spend up today and feel better for it knowing I have some quick meals for tonight and in the freezer enough choccy biccies to last me weeks and weeks and now I am going to have something to eat as I am hungry with all the walking I have been doing. Not had anythig yet only a milky coffee before I went out.

Good morning all. Ooh Mel. I know how you fell. Hope all goes well at the dentist, not sure if it is a check up or an appointment to do something but hope it is not as bad as you are expecting.
11 degrees here and lashing down with rain at the moment. I want to go in to town to post a couple of things but if the rain keeps up that will have to wait until Thursday.

Good morning all,

Really grey and very windy here this morning and pc says nearest rain 2 K away and 10 degrees!!!!! Certainly dos'nt feel like it.

I put the heating on at 7.30am but I was up before then so it felt cold in here.

Must get on lots to do before the dentists, wish me luck please. I think its going to be a nasty one this time.

Good that you had a pleasant walk Vera but what a shame the swans were not there. They don’t usually change their nesting area do they.
I have been on the book thread

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 12 Mar 2023 18:15

FOR ANNG: Just letting you know I have put something on the book thread as, like me, I don't suppose you look at it much these days. It would be good to get that thread moving again.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 12 Mar 2023 16:41

Sounds like you really enjoyed your walk by te river with hubby Vera. Nice to get out once in a while to take in nature. Hope your swans come back. Perhaps they were eating somewhere else as its Sunday!!

It clouded over just after I posted this morning and now its all grey and raining again. Pc says 11 degrees and rain showers so nothing new there then.

I have done a bit of casting this morning and most came out ok, I have also put more layers on new moulds of bread and washed my hair. Next to tackle the bed and do a bit of ironing so I have nice ironed things for tomorrow and finish wrapping up the little parcel I have to send off.

SuffolkVera Report 12 Mar 2023 16:11

Sorry you didn't sleep well AnnG. I was restless too and I felt as though I had been dreaming all night though I can only remember one dream and that was a pretty stupid one.

It's much warmer today, 12 degrees at the moment. There's been a fair bit of sun on and off but it's cloudy at the moment. I'm really not getting anywhere near enough exercise at the moment so I persuaded OH to come for a walk with me this morning. We went down to the river and walked along for a while. I wanted to see if the swan pair that are usually on the bit of river closest to us were still there but there was no sign of them. I hope they haven't succumbed to avian flu. The river was up very high. It was very pleasant out though it was cold when we were walking into the wind. We were out about an hour. We only walked about 1.5 miles as we kept stopping to look at the river but at least I got some fresh air and a bit of movement in my legs.

Of course I now feel guilty because I didn't spend the time gardening and the garden really needs some work. We've normally cut various plants back by now but I am a bit wary while we keep getting cold spells and heavy frosts and I ought to get some seed sowing done. That'll be in indoor seed trays so won't be affected by frost.

We had our Sunday roast about 2 pm. Loin of pork today with lots of veg and a pud to follow. It was all very tasty but I feel very full. We'll probably just have a light snack at about 8 pm.

I hope you get on OK at the dentist's tomorrow Mel and I hope everyone sleeps well tonight.

Sun is still in and out here now and it is 12 degrees. then I see we are expecting another Arctic blast from Monday night possibly into April. Fed up with this weather now.

I have stripped and changed the bed and washed the bedding. and put away my Tesco shop. plus sending out a report of the meeting on Thursday.
also swept up all the moss dropped by the birds on the path to my front door.

Morning Anng and all,

Much brighter here too at the moment but how long will the sunshine last as it seems to be fading while I type.

Lots to get on with today, I have a small parcel to do up, wash my hair and get clothes ready for tomorrows visit to the dentist. I can post the parcel after the dentists.

Yes it was a good get together, a good chat over coffee and planned several more outings to look forward to. And then a nice lunch (fish and chips).
Mel looking at on line orders today you have more eggs than Tesco.

Vera good to get to a garden centre but disappointing not to find anything you liked.

I put I had the dentist on Tuesday and it should have Monday.

Had a call from Aunty Joy this afternoon and I blimmin well blocked her number by mistake. Now I have to find out how to get that taken off my landline. She now has my mobile number and I have hers so if she rings me I can ring her back as she dos'nt have the deal I have on my phone. We talked for 55 mins!!! Put the world to rights and had a giggle at the same time.

Well Vera you got more done today than I did. I did do the shop this morning and delivered some eggs to another neighbour. Em still has eggs but she is going to ask her mum and sister if they need any as I have 2 and a half dozen sitting here in the tray. May have to bake some cakes.

Hope you enjoyed your time out and about Anng.

Right need to get myself something to eat now.

SuffolkVera Report 11 Mar 2023 17:05

It’s been quite sunny this afternoon though it is really bitter cold and the weather app says it will start raining again by about 6 o’clock.

I faffed about yesterday afternoon and eventually decided to make some soup. I left some out to reheat for lunch today and put 2 two person helpings in the freezer so at least I felt I’d done something useful and not wasted the whole afternoon. It went down well at lunchtime with some fresh ciabatta rolls.

As we didn’t get to the Dobbie’s Garden Centre yesterday OH suggested we went to our local one, Perrywoods, this afternoon. I couldn't believe how busy it was. We had to park in the overflow car park. I had £20 of vouchers to spend but couldn’t find anything I wanted. I did buy one small plant but that was to go with some raffle prizes for our Club meeting next week. We then went to town and went in Roy’s but I didn’t find anything there either.

I hope you enjoyed your lunch AnnG. I laughed at your neglected cup of coffee. It’s the sort of thing I do these days.

I think I said that the eye doctor yesterday said he would see me again in 3-4 months so I made a note on the calendar to ring them in 3 month’s time if I hadn’t heard anything. I needn’t have bothered to do that as today I have been sent my appointment for 12th June. How’s that for good service? We are very lucky with both our GP practice and the hospital.

We’re having salmon tonight so I’d better go and sort out something to have with it.

Its 3 degrees here and dull as sidh waterbut I don't think its raining yet.

Anng my desk is a mess and needs a clear up too. There's also lots of notes on mine as well so your not the only one.

I have a pile of ironing to get done today some time if I don't get distracted by my miniatures. I also need toget osme more on ebay as the others have all sold now.We have no post van next week so I shall need to go to Holsworthy if I have to post a parcel and thats why I did'nt put anything on there this week.

I have the dentist on Tuesday.

Hope Gill is ok and did'nt get covid from hubby.

Good morning AnnG and all

Very cold night and a heavy frost this morning. It’s -2 at the moment . My beautiful daffodils look very sorry but they might pick up.

Wrap up warm and be careful of slippery roads when you go out AnnG. My only plan today is to stay warm.
