Back from the chiropodist. The sun has shone all morning and it is 13 degrees but it is also extremely windy.
Ah Vera it is sad when penfriends can no longer communicate. I always had a lot of penfriends and there are still a few left but there is one that I have not heard from now for 18 months including two Christmas cards sent by me and none from her. I have sent a letter with the address to return if undelivered but nothing. I fear the worst, she is (was) about 5 years younger than me but did have a lot of ill health suffering from Crohns for many years. She actually only lived in the Forest of Dean but we never met. We originally 'met' and wrote regularly through a gardening on line group I still have contact with two more from the group although one of those is unable to correspond much now as her sight has deteriorated. There was another one who I suddenly didn't hear from any more but she was older than me and a bit frail so I have assumed the worst. My penfriend letters (actual Royal mail post letters) have given me a lot of pleasure over the years. and when I was a young Mum and the penfriends were the same I had a lot of support from them then too. No internet/emails in the 60s/70s.

Morning all

No sun here Mel. It's grey, a bit windy and pouring with rain. Nothing new there then!

It was a bit of a busy day yesterday and it might be a bit busy today as well. As I'm at the computer I've just come on to say Good Morning but I need to quickly sort out a birthday e-card for my German pen friend whose birthday is today. She is 82 and sadly now has dementia which is progressing quite fast so I don't know if she will even remember who I am. It's her husband who keeps in touch with me nowadays. She's no longer capable of using a computer so I send stuff to her husband's email address and he shows her.

Must get on. Might bbl

Morning Anng and all,

Its bright and sunny here this morning and its also 10 degrees. I hope it lasts as the bedding is in the machine and it looks like theres a bit of a breeze so I may be lucky and get it dryish.

Ironing today and a bit of a tidy up as I have my art stuff all over the kitchen table with just my place mat where I eat is clear. Its a bit too cold to do it in the lounge at presents but the lights better in there in the mornings.

good morning all. Chiropodist later this morning so a trip to town. 9 degrees here and so far dry although looks a bit damp so we have probably had a shower earlier. Slept well last night anyway.

Have a good day everyone.

Finally managed to sort the straps out so that is one job out of the way.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Mar 2023 09:34

Morning Anng and all,

We have a bright morning at present but how long will it last as pc says mostly cloudy and 11 degrees with a breeze.

Shopping comes today so I have that to sort out this morning. When I tracked the order it was being selected so no idea who my driver will be yet but I better get my box ready at the front door but not outside.

Then I am watching something on ebay which finishes soon and I have the girls and wild birds to feed so that should keep me busy for the morning.

Anng I never know what size to buy in the way of bras as I hav'nt been measured for years and they closed the hsop in Bideford I used to go to. They had a lovely lady to deal with that sort of thing and I am sure she fixed me up with a half wired bra that last time I went. Trouble is with lockdown and not going anywhere I hav'nt had it done for years now.

AnninGlos Report 21 Mar 2023 07:53

good morning all. 10 degrees here and dry so far. bed stripped and bedding in the washing machine. Not got anything planned for today. Maybe a bit more tidying in the garden.

Mandy a different shop for the shopping will be like going on holiday!!! I love orchids, saw a lovely yellow one last week but it was almost £30 I don't love them that much.
Hope the doctor can get your BP medication sorted.
Vera that was a nice surprise to get the daffodils. Even if they were from the left over ones at the church it was good that they didn't get wasted. Enjoy them.

First job this morning is to sort out a new bra I bought in M&S yesterday, I hate underwired bras and there are only a few none wired. This new one in more scaffolding than lightweight but being of a larger size, needs must. The problem is the straps are pulled up quite short so I need to lengthen them but the strap material is so strong and an inch wide that it is difficult to shift. I know more than one person who prefers non wired bras so I wonder why there are loads of wired designs in M&S and only about three different non wired and those all of the 'full cup total support variety (even in a size 34B) And that is not my size :-D

Evening all,

We woke to rain but by late morning it eased up a bit ,no sun today after yesterday's nice sunny day ,we even sat out in the sun for quarter of an hour but we did have our jackets on .

Vera that was nice of your neighbour to bring you the daffs ,it reminded me of something I read the other day where a lady found a bunch of daffs in her fridge ,her hubby had put them in there as he thought they were spring onions lol

I rang the doctors and I now have to wait for the doc to sort out another tablet for me ,they will ring when they have sorted it .
Not sure where I will shop this week as there is road works on the way to aldi where they are mending the paths and there's also lots of one way roads so a right mess and clogged up roads, in one road a sink hole as appeared so that hasn't helped .

Had a nice white orchid and chocolates for mothers day ,it was nice to see the family as they haven't been for a while as they are so busy and so usually like the weekends at home .

Been rianing here too Anng. I went into Holsworthy for chicken food and wild bird seed but thought I would first have a little look in town so I popped in the factory shop to see if they had any of the cotton long sleeved tops I like. They did'nt but they did have one light navy vest top in my size so I treated myself to that. They are only £4 each and in the summer I sleep in those with my jim jam bottoms.

As to my Ebay saga I am not putting it on here. It was a scam.

Fed the bantam before I went out and the big girls when I go back. Now I am having a hot cross bun and a nice COT.

What is your ebay problem Mel, I don't think you said.

ust been to Cheltenham on the bus. Buses all on time and no cancellations. Wednesday I have to go to Gloucester for the chiropodist but is ages since I went in to Cheltenham on my own. I have been a few times with our group of friends, didn't go all round the shops, just Boots, M&S and John Lewis but my back and legs had had enough by then they are remembering I was gardening yesterday.

Pleased I got the lawn cut because it is raining now.

Hoovered kitchen hall and bedroom and dusted the hall table chest and chair.

Its 11 degrees here but still cloudy and rain in the air and pc says rain coming.

Told Ebay but I don't think they will do much.

Good afternoon all

Grey skies and rain on and off so I’ve got washing hanging all round the house again. Some of it could go in the dryer but I’m trying to save a bit of leccy by only using the dryer for towels.

Yesterday seemed to fly by yet I don’t seem to have done very much. OH took out 2 grasses from the back garden and cut down the other 3 so it all looks a bit flat at the moment but the ones cut back will soon grow again. While he was out the front tidying the strip along the side of the garage our neighbour came back from church with several bunches of daffs. She gave OH one and then went round the other houses in the Close with a bunch for each house. I am not sure but I suspect they had them in Church for children to give their mothers and there were some left over. It was kind of her to think of giving us all a bunch.

I’m typing this while cooking our dinner. I’m doing our main meal now as we need to be out early tonight. We have a club meeting and we are down to do the teas so need to be early to get the urn on and cups out etc. In theory I should do teas once a year at this club and once a year at the Ladies Group but I seem to be constantly helping out when the allocated person can’t do it for some reason or simply forgets. I’ll have to learn to say No. Tonight is our official turn at this club and I am down to do the October meeting at the Ladies Group so I hope that will be it for this year.

Our dinner is about ready now so I’d better start dishing up. Enjoy the rest of the day.

I had BIL here today but he did'nt stay long. He tried to get the printer to work but could'nt and said he would do it whe he had more time. He did take four bags of rubbish away for me so that was good.

I also had trouble with Ebay and have been trying to sort that out but will have to ring tomorrow now.

After I dropped off my cards Cynth and I went for a coffee to the local garden centre. good job we didn't want breakfast or lunch as we could only have had either if we had booked. I suppose because it is mothers' day

I did an hour in the garden when we got back. Gave the lawn a high cut and cut back some of the dead clematis and other bits. Aching now but it was a job that needed doing

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 19 Mar 2023 12:44

Afternoon all,

BIL arrived really early this morning and we tried to sort my printer out as it won't print the things I want it to. He only left a little while ago and then I got lost in the garden for a while.

I also accepted an offer for my minitures on Ebay but I found it was to the US and it would have cost me £9 to send it which was half the price of the items so I had to cancel that.

I am now sitting here with a small coffee and a hot cros bun.

Hope all the aches and pains have gone from those suffering.
