O I had'nt heard that Mandy and yes he was great with dogs. Such a nice man RIP Paul.

Not done much today just can't seem to get into anything. I did clean the loo and wipe the shower round but thats about it. Still can't find that extension lead so may have to take the one down off the patio roof which oh had a wifi thing plugged in for when he worked up the caravan on the laser cutter.

I second that too Vera have a lovely break and Happy Anniversary. Enjoy your couple of days andtell us all about it when you get back. Hope the weather is kind to you.

The post van did'nt come today which was a pest as I had two parcels to send off. I even rang the vicar to see if he had arrived late but he said it had'nt been today at all. It is'nt supposed to come on a Wednesday but I am wondering if it will???? If not I shall have to go into Holsworthy.

Some bad news today. I had a call from the water board lady saying my meter had now been read and I have got a leak. The bill for the water is £800 but she is sending people down to see where the leak is and she said not to worry about it. She even gave me her direct line if I have to ring her any time.

Spoke on the hone to my friend Sheila today for 42 mins. She has been in hospital and had a masectomy as her cancer came back after 25 years. Now she has cemo to face. She is our local reader at the church and I wondered why she had'nt been to see me for months as its not like her and now I know why.

I hope you have all had better weather than us. It’s rained most of the day and, although it has apparently got to 7 degrees, there’s a chilly old wind that’s made it feel colder. OH just took the bins down the road and said even the rain feels cold. It’s supposed to be warmer over the next few days but we’ll be up on the North Sea coast which gets some cold north and east winds.

We are off in the morning for our little 3 day/2 night trip and I seem to have been most of the day getting ready. How can we need so much for such a short stay? As we are staying in a hotel with some special meals arranged I am having to take our normal trousers, shirts, jumpers for the day and “posh” evening wear as well; not that I have much posh stuff these days. The good black skirt and black patent shoes will do for both nights but I’ve sorted out 2 blouses and 2 jackets to go with them.

As we can’t take cards and things with us to open on Thursday and we want to get away sharp tomorrow we’ve just opened the 10 cards we’ve got already. We hadn’t expected gifts but one friend has given us chocolates, another has given us a stone mushroom garden ornament and our close friends M & V have given us a voucher for tickets for our local theatre. People are so kind and generous.

Got interrupted here by the doorbell. It was another friend with a card and a bottle of wine. We are being very spoilt.

As I still have to shower and wash my hair and see what indoor plants need watering I had better get on. Hope you all sleep well tonight.

Good morning all as mel says a bit dull here this morning after the lovely sun of yesterday 7 degrees so not too cold. I had a strange night of sleeping/waking/sleeping and didn't finally wake until 0830.

what a strange swop mel, no you couldn't get 4 meals out of that.

Morning all,

Dull and miserable today after a lovely red sky last night and I think its been raining.

My phone messages have disappeared off the first page on the phone and are back in with the other files and I am not sure how to fix it. My pond man texted me on saturday and I did'nt know as I had'nt heard the buzz.

Must get on have to get down the post van before the shopping arrives. Its my nice Dan today. I have two subs this week unsalted butter instead of salted and I hate unsalted and a beef madalian steak instead of diced beef. How can I make four dinners out of one steak?

Well Vera, what a good trip to town you had and I like your thinking re the birthday voucher. Shampoo is grocery not birthday present.

I wish I could just see a nice black blazer style jacket I am always looking but never see one.

Anyway that sounded like a very successful shopping trip.

Sounds like you had a nice day out on your own Vera and could mosey about looking wherever you wanted to. Nice to have a bit of pampering on your self rather than buying things for everyday use.

Sleep well and I hope the back is easier tomorrow.

The miniatures are excellent Mel. It’s only when you see them against the coin that you realise how tiny they are. You must have very dexterous fingers. It’s a pity you were so upset at the surgery but it’s often the little things that set us off and there’s nothing wrong with a few tears.

AnnG, your roast lamb dinner sounded good and the film was interesting but it’s a shame the seats were not very comfortable. It takes the edge off enjoying the film if you can’t relax in your seat.

I’ve had quite a hectic day. I slept on and off but got up with a painful back again and I can’t think of any reason for it. I got on and got all the washing done and OH changed the bedding for me. About midday OH put a heat pad on my back for me and I took a couple of pain killers and had a quick lunch before going in to town.

I managed to get a card for OH. Most places either stopped at Golden Wedding or only had ones referring to Your Diamond Anniversary, not Our Diamond Anniversary. Anyway I eventually found a suitable card. Then I went to Waitrose to spend a voucher I had for my birthday. I was choosing sensible things like shampoo when I suddenly thought this is meant to be a birthday treat so I put my bits back on the shelf and bought a nice bottle of wine and 2 big bars of chocolate instead :-D

Next I spent the points on my Boots Advantage Card and got some face cream and a new hairbrush. By buying a few books in each of 3 different shops I managed to stock up on stamps before they go up. Wandering round the shops I saw a black blazer style jacket at a reasonable price. I used to have one but it eventually got shabby and I got rid of it but it was so handy when I wanted something a bit smarter than a cardigan. So I got tempted and bought it. I also met my neighbours in one of the shops so that was another 20 minutes of chatting.

I have to say I enjoyed going shopping on my own for a change and, bless him, OH said he was pleased I’d spent money on myself for once.

As soon as I got home the doorbell rang and it was a friend who just popped in on her way home from somewhere else. She just came in “for 5 minutes”. Well over an hour later she left again. Then it was a rush to cook dinner and clear up. Now I’m sitting on the sofa yawning like mad.

I hope Gill is OK as we haven’t heard from her lately. Maybe she is still having laptop and internet problems.

I think I’ll have a read for a while now. Sleep well tonight everyone.

Well done on the eBay sales Mel. Are they all miniatures?

There is no way of knowing what is going to upset us is there. Sometimes it is the strangest things. Yes your BP was obviously going to be up then.
You are exactly the same weight as me. I do keep trying to lose some as it is too much for my height.

The dinner sounded lovely and it was a shame the seats were uncomfortable Anng but it was a nice day out.
Glad your dentists is over till September now.

I had a phone call this morning from our surgery saying I was overdue for a blood test and could she book me in. I said yes and she told me there was a cancelation for this afternoon at 3.15pm so I took it. My blood pressure was up a bit but I had taken all oh's old scripts there to be desposed of. Would you believe they could'nt take any of them that were not from that surgery. They gave me a bag full back to take to Lloyds chesmist which means another trip to Holsworthy. Some were out of date painkillers etc I was so upset once again as it brought it all back to me and ended in tears. The nurse (Angela) came and took me through to her room and calmed me down. Not a good time to have my blood pressure taken and it was up of course. She told me to take it at home with my little wrist one and write it down so I am going to do that when I can get the thing to work. I had taken the batteries out of it and not sure how to set it up now so I shall have to take it to Em's and see if Ed can do it for me. She also weighed me and said I had lost weight since last time in 2020 so that was good. I have been weighing myself but wanted to make sure my scales wre reading right. I am now 11st.7oz so I have lost 9lbs.

Got back home at 4.10pm and got settled in and thought I will have a cuppa now after corning the girls. Had 5 eggs again today.

Also had a message from Ebay to say I have had a bid on my Easter Treats which is a plate of hot cross buns and little rabbits with a hat on and dressed in a pretty dress holding two carrots and two Easter eggs. One sugar with flowers on and one dark choc with flowers on. I'll send a pic if I remember. So that will be three things sold on Ebay this week.

That is the dentist hopefully finished with until September. He was 45 minutes late. That is the problem with a Monday appointment and a popular dentist. Still all done now.

I didn't say what yesterday's trip out was like.

We had a really lovely lunch. Being Sunday it was roasts on offer either chicken lamb or (I think) pork. The lamb was delicious, really tender, large pieces of meat, roast potatoes, roast parsnip, stuffing, yorkshire, cauliflower and leek cheese, carrots, broccoli, broad beans and red cabbage with a nice gravy. It was a large portion but we all enjoyed it so much all our plates were clean! We then shared a sweet. Two of our group shared apple crumble and two shared black forest gateau and ice cream (I had the latter) But there were a lot of other sweets on offer.

Afterwards we went to Tewkesbury to the Roses theatre where we had booked for the studio. We saw a very good film on the life of Cezanne, monitoring his paintings and his life from when he started painting until he died. Most of his paintings were portraits, (Many of his wife and son) the film was produced by visits to various Art galleries such as the Portrait galley, London, The Musee D'Orsay Paris (which has more than portraits and has a lot of impressionist paintings) and a gallery in New York. As well as the paintings various people from those galleries spoke about his life and it was supplemented by a narrator reading letters from Cezanne to various other artists of the time.

Our only complaint was the seats my friend and I were in were on a type of settee, so for two of us and the actual seats were really hard and, after a few minutes, really uncomfortable so we were having to shift around a lot to relieve the pain in our lower backs and backsides.. There was a lady usherette who was in the room all the time and we spoke to her about it and she was interested to hear how painful the seats were. She said she thought they were due to be re- upholstered which will be good. After all while not extremely expensive it was £7 a ticket for unreserved seats.

Morning Anng and all,

Its bright here this morning and the sky is sort of blue. Same as you Anng 3 degrees and theres been a frost as the car has the remnants of fern p[etterns on it.

My magnolia and forsythia are both out up at the south facing wall so a little later than the one Gwyn saw in Kent.

I am dying for my coffee and I have made it too hot!! Better put more milk in it.

Had a horrid dream about borrowing mums car which was a Ford in gold but this one wa metalic blue and I stopped somewhere and when I went back to the car it had been pinched. I went back to a shop I had been in and asked if they would call the police and they did but they could'nt find it. I went bak to the car park and a man and I found it in a ditch covered in moss. I pulled some of the moss back and said yes its my mums car as the tudor bricks are still in the back. Now where on earth did that all come from??

Good luck for the dentist and hope its not as bad as you think its going to be. Oh always told me to take some paracetamol before going for a clean.
