Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Apr 2023 13:21

The good news is that the man who does my car came this morning and he got the digger going with no trouble at all. The worst trouble was we could'nt get the seat up at first but managed it in the end. The people who tried to start it before had also left the ignition on. Stuart started it and they had'nt done one of the injecters back up so he did that as it was squirting diesel out. He also took some pics of it and has a young man of 23 who is interested in it and he sent the pics and he wants to come and see it and the trailer. I just have to take all the stuff out of the trailer now but he pulled it out of the holly tree with the winch on the front of his vehicle so I can clear it now.

This should have been on the other post

So both of us have leccy problems today Anng. My leccy keeps dropping out and its done it about 15 times at least this morning. I was going to put the slow cooker on but can't leave the house if it goes out again.

n who does my car came this morning and he got the digger started and pulled the trailer out from under the holly tree with the winch on the from of his vehicle. He also gave me a nice hug and told me he has a young lad interested in the digger and trailer and he's going to bring him down to see it. He left about 12 oclock and went off for his lunch. He was'nt here very long and I hav'nt had to pay him yet.

I have lost half of my post!!

Daughter is about 45 minutes away now. I have done some more cutting back and weeding in the garden. I can't cut the lawn as I need to get a new battery for the mower. Stupid me left the battery out when I came in two weeks ago and it got caught in heavy rain. It just won't charge up now so that is an expensive lesson learnt. I will wait until I come back to order it anyway.

Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 4 Apr 2023 09:43

A really beautiful morning here with just a breeze and not the fierce bitter winds of late.
I'm not long back from walking to see the swans, or should I say swan, brcause only one was around today and sitting firmly on the nest, so I don't know if there are eggs there or not.... I'll have to ask my friend, as she frequently walks there.
Mandy, I'm not sure about the timing. I looked back on last year's posts and see that on April 16th I had seen 8 eggs, so we will just have to wait and see. Sadly some eggs don't hatch and some cygnets full victim to predators like pike or even mink, I've heard.

Yesterday, my daughters and I visited Rochester Cathedral and saw the massive Jubilee Black Oak table

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-64823982

The timeline displayed nearby was so interesting and dated the acorn from which the oak grew to pre 3500 BC.
Also on display, above the main aisle were hundreds of paper doves from an art project which involved many schools.
https://www.rochestercathedral.org/peacedoves
They were quite a sight.

Morning all,

Nice bright sunny morning again here and there was a frost last night before I went to bed and now pc is saying 2 degrees and mostly cloudy.

Shopping comes today and I was cross because three things I wanted were not available so I had to but other things to make the money up to get my order delivered.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 3 Apr 2023 14:13

gill a letter is a good idea but make sure it is dated and you have a copy of it. Is there a hedge there at the moment and is the hedge on her land or yours?

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 3 Apr 2023 12:53

Sorry to hear you are going through a bad patch Gill. I second what AnnG has said. Unless there is a covenant with your deeds which gives them access no-one can just wander across your land; that would be trespass. They certainly can't dump trees on it.

I know OH is mostly sleeping or working but could he find time to have a word with the woman or the workmen? It shouldn't happen but people will often take more notice of a man. Otherwise I would advise writing a letter to the woman and popping it through her door so you have something in writing. Be very polite but be firm.

Check carefully before you put a fence up. You need to be sure that fencing on that boundary is your responsibility and not hers. You don't want to spend money and find that she can make you take the fence down again.

We have just had a slight set-to with our neighbour over the back. This man is a bully and not liked locally at all. He does intimidate people but, like most bullies, he's a coward and the only way to deal with him is to stand up to him. He attached something to the fence that we had put up and are responsible for. OH went to see him but he never answers the door, so we wrote him a letter politely pointing out that the fence belonged to us and he had no right to screw anything to it without our permission. We gave him 7 days to remove it. He didn't so OH took it down and we packed it in a box with a note saying we had done this and were hereby returning his property and left it on his doorstep. We haven't heard a peep out of him since. He has also done it on the fence between him and his neighbour to the side but they are too frightened to confront him so he's got away with it there.

I'm not sure what to suggest to ease your sense of loneliness. I know your anxiety issues won't let you join local clubs or groups. Do you speak to the neighbours either side of you and are they nice people? I wondered whether you could invite just one of them in for a cup of tea one afternoon. With the warmer weather coming you might be able to sit outside soon so you wouldn't disturb OH if he's asleep. If you just dealt with one person at a time you might be able to gradually build up a little friendship.

As Mel says, we are all here for you so come and get things off your chest whenever you feel like it.

Pond mans still here and has put the old bigger pump back on the filter for me and I have ordered some new pipe for the skimmer so that can be put back at a more reasonable place to access it.

O Gill we are all here for you when you feel lonely. I do too sometimes. I don't see anyone for days sometimes. Always come on here and have a good moan and who knows we can give you advice if we are able.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 3 Apr 2023 10:36

gill if you feel lonely why not come on here and see if anyone is around for a chat.

with the workmen. They should not wander onto your land without permission but there may be something in your deeds that mentions giving access for maintenance if her bungalow was built before yours. It must be intimidating if they walk in when you are on your own so probably a fence might be a good idea. have you actually spoken to the men and explained it is not waste ground it is your garden? Do they arrive in a vehicle with a name and phone number on it. i.e. are they a proper firm or travellers.?

a fence would be a good idea.

Have you spoken to the woman? What about your neighbours either side of you what do they think. (safety in numbers)
Make sure the men know that the trees are not to be dumped on your land and make a note of any identification of the firm you can get.

On a happier note, it sounds as if the bungalow is taking shape indoors.

Gillx Report 3 Apr 2023 09:45

Morning all

Sorry I haven't been on here for ages I've been feeling really down lately crying all the time. I'm very lonely the only person I see is OH and he's working all the time and sleeping during the day so I'm on my own almost all the time.

It doesn't help when the woman at the bottom of our garden, (her garden comes over ours slightly on the right) keeps sending workmen into our garden where they wonder around even going right up to our side gate looking for access for a shredding machine as the woman is having two very large trees taken down. She told them it was waste ground and it was okay to dump the trees there but if they got access through our garden they could shred them and spread the sawdust all over the bottom of our garden.

There were four big men and they've been in our garden at least twice to our knowledge although they said it's been four or five times. They act like they have a right to do it and it's very scary.

The sun is out today and we were going to cut a couple of small trees down in our garden but now I think it might be better to put a fence up between us and the woman at the bottom, hopefully that's stop the men wondering around our garden when the fancy takes them.

I thought they were going to come today to make a start on taking the trees down but they haven't turned up yet so we should be able to put a fence up before they start if it isn't to hard to dig down for the fence posts as the roots from the big trees might be in the way.

Can you imagine how much sawdust there would be from those trees, it would be horrendous and blow everywhere. They can't get the machine down there without access from our side, but we don't want the trees cut down and left at the bottom of our garden either. I don't know why they don't cut them down and put them in her garden. They're her trees not ours.

Sorry for going on, I suffer from anxiety and this isn't helping. I just needed to get it off my chest.

Going outside now to see if they've walked all over my plants, I hope they haven't.

On a positive we've done a bit more DIY in the kitchen so that's almost ready for the new kitchen floor to be put down, we're going to put some ply wood in there instead of the cement boards, then varnish it so it's easy to mop until we decide what floor covering we want. Then the new kitchen can go in.

Morning girls,

I was rudely awoken by my pond man at a very early hour. He is on the way so0 I had to get dressed quickly and do my hair.

Its a lovely bright sunny morning and pc is saying its 4 degrees. I wonder if the sun will last all day?

At least I may get the pond sorted but I shall be frighten to turn the pump off to do the filter if this is going to happen everytime. I wonder what he will charge ne this time?

Just when I thought I was going to have a day to myself again..... no such luck.

He's here.

good morning all. 2 degrees here too and chilly but bright and I hope that it is going to be a nice dry day so I can cut the lawn. I do also have to start the packing as well, mostly stuff is sorted so it should not take long.
Oh and I have a load of washing in the machine.

Good morning all

It’s bright sunshine now but it was a very cold night with a frost. It’s only 2 degrees at the moment. Very brrr...

I’ve got lots of washing to get done this morning and a couple of phone calls that must be made today. Friends are coming for a cup of tea this afternoon.

The hyacinths we were given are opening up now and are all white. They are beginning to smell lovely.

AnnG, that is odd. Goodness knows where that post went. Basically I said I had tried another Douglas Kennedy called The Pursuit of Happiness. I don’t think he’ll ever be my favourite author but I thought it was a more interesting story than the first book I read and I quite enjoyed it.
