AnninGlos Report 22 Apr 2023 17:03

Well I got two full loads of washing done and all dried in the dryer and now in the airing cupboard.

I also got a few more of the bits put away that I couldn't do before as daughter and SiL were in that room. Still some paperwork to do, mainly finance that I couldn't do while away. I got the plants ready for potting on but was too tired to actually do it so that is a job for next week. tomorrow is my booster jab in the morning.

Daughter got home ok made good time until the last 20 miles or so when they got stuck behind a tractor doing 30mph, no dual carriageways on that stretch of the A66.

Mel many years ago my dad had his nose cauterised and it didn't cause him any problems. Hopefully you won't need that done.

Good afternoon all

It was misty here first thing but cleared by mid-morning. Then we had sunshine alternating with grey cloud. It can't seem to make up its mind what to do.

I hope the mist cleared quickly for your daughter AnnG and they had a good run home. I expect you have been busy with jobs round the house and garden today.

Mel, you may have to use the cream for your nose for several days before it takes effect. If you do have to have your nose cauterised please don't worry about it. I know at least 3 people who have had it done with no problems at all. I think Em's Dad's problems with it were probably uncommon.

Having cleaned the upstairs yesterday I thought I had better do the downstairs today. I've only given everywhere a thorough dust and hoover but I did move all the furniture that I could manage. It seemed to take me nearly all morning. While I was doing that OH just finished off cleaning the cupboards in the uti.

This afternoon he has been outside banging lumps out of a wall. I'm not sure exactly what he is doing but I think he is sorting out a security light that isn't working and was never wired properly when the house was built. I got a very grumpy response when I suggested he just got someone in to do it so I have come in and left him to it.

I'd better now finalise my Sainsbury order which is coming on Monday. There are a few more bits I want to add and if I leave it till tomorrow I am bound to forget.

Good luck with the sorting and hope you get your plants sorted.

Its really dull here and its cold with it and pc is saying heavy rain now. Glad I brought the car down from up the top arch yesterday in the rain.

AnninGlos Report 22 Apr 2023 08:38

good morning all very foggy this morning here which is a bit of a concern as daughter and SiL headed off for home at 0730. Just hoping it has cleared further up the M5
So sad to see them go and that is the end of my lovely holiday with them. So back to being on my own now. One load of washing in and Tesco expected 12-1pm. Hoping it is dry today so I can sort out the plants I bought yesteday at the garden centre. Although before I start on the garden I need to get the house tidy again. All go here then. BBL

Morning all,

Pc is saying mostly sunny and 4 degrees and it looks pretty cold and damp out there.

Just the shop to do today and BIL may come over but he was'nt sure.

Nose is'nt too good this morning as I keep sneezing so having to blow it but its not bleeding as such . Don't think this ream is going to work which will mean I have to have it quarterised and I am not looking forward to that as when they did Em's dad and they packed it he had to go to Exeter hospital to have it all taken out and had to stay there for three days.

SuffolkVera Report 21 Apr 2023 20:49

It was grey and wet and horrible all morning though it brightened up this afternoon and we did see a bit of sun. The computer is telling me now that it is 8 degrees and sunny. I'm not sure what planet it's on but the sun set nearly half an hour ago and there's not even a pink streak left in the sky.

I decided today would have to be a h/w day as our home was beginning to look neglected. It's sorely in need of a proper spring clean. I gave all the upstairs rooms a thorough dust and hoover and a good tidy up and came down to the bottom of the stairs. OH managed to cover the whole of a work surface in the kitchen with bits of wire and tools. Goodness knows what he was doing but there was a lot of muttering and grumbling going on. Eventually he packed everything away and started cleaning out the cupboards in the utility which was helpful as they did need doing.

I had intended to carry on with cleaning after lunch but our neighbour was going to see her husband in hospital and was going to have to book taxis each way. The hospital is 20 miles away, so a 40 mile round trip. You can just imagine what taxis cost over that distance, so we said if she could get a taxi there we would drive to the hospital and pick her up to bring her home so she only had to pay one way. When we got back she insisted we went in and saw some new furniture she had recently bought and then insisted we had a cup of tea. In the end we didn't leave her till nearly 7 pm. Good job I had left a stew cooking in the slow cooker so I only had to do a few potatoes to go with it and we could eat by 7.30.

I'm not sure what we'll be doing tomorrow. I'd like to carry on with more cleaning or perhaps sort a couple of cupboards out but if it's dry weather it might be nice to go for a walk or do a bit in the garden.

Computer is still telling me it's sunny but it's really dark outside now :-S

AnninGlos Report 21 Apr 2023 17:03

No gardening here as it has been raining all day. but we went to the garden centre and got some plants and seed compost, then we drove to the chemist and i got my prescription. (that saved me walking round next week.) Then we wnt to Tesco and got some bits I couldn't get on my tomorrow's delivery, then we got petrol for their journey home so that was a few things well done.

Oil has'nt arrived again..................now its supposed to be coming on Monday.

BIL been and gone and he got £62 for the batteries so I said get mower petrol with that so thats what he is going to do. He took two dead prssure washers with him to take to the tip so thats a bit more out of the way.

This morning I moved all the grass cuttings to the back of the hole so he can get more in the front when he does another cut. It was like moving a haystack there is so much that comes off the lawns.

Hope everyone is ok today. I also did a bit of gardening just taking off dead stalks on the kaffia lillies.

AnninGlos Report 21 Apr 2023 09:18

Did the Dr say what caused it Mel?

Good morning all, drizzly and dull here so forecast was right, no gardening today but we will go to the local garden centre for coffee. daughter and SiL not up yet, I have had breakfast and sorted most of my Tesco order.

Morning all,

A promising looking morning with a nice bright sky so I think we will have sunshine again today. It looks like there may have been a frost so I hope it has'nt hurt anything.

Oil should come today and BIL too I think, well he said so yesterday but we'll see.

I want to drink my coffee but I have made it too hot.

Pc is saying humid partly sunny and 4 degrees. Better get showered and ready for the day.

No bleed yesterday so the cream is working.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 20 Apr 2023 22:18

My oil did'nt turn up so I rang late afternoon and they sais they had sent the 6 wheeler and that will come sown the f=drive but its a very tight squeeze. I have to have the small tanker so now its coming tomorrow. I also have to move my car up on the top grass and BIL was here so he had to move his car out of the way too.

He cut all the lawns today and took away 12 old car and lawn mower batteries. He recons he will get about £6 each for them and that can buy petrol for the mowers.

I cleared a bit more of the front of the hoiuse and went up and set the mole traps on the front field. I had caught one but there's still a peskie one shoving great hill of earth up so we will see if I can catch that one and then we can start getting the field ready for the coronation picnic and the children can play on the field.

Tired now and I have had my meal so will watch a bit of telly and then go to bed. Night night all.

SuffolkVera Report 20 Apr 2023 21:22

Hallo all

It was a nice bright morning but was dull and showery this afternoon. It’s been windy all day.

I’m glad you got safely home AnnG. Does your daughter and sil return tomorrow or are they with you for a bit longer?

We met friends for coffee this morning but the rest of the day has just been spent doing a few odd jobs. OH has spent a couple of days on and off completely clearing the semi circular bed round a bird bath. The 20 hebes edging it all died this year as did the penstemons in the middle. There was also a large rosemary bush there. It was supposed to be an upright one but sprawled everywhere and the more we trimmed it to shape the more sprawling shoots it grew. So that has gone too. All that is left are 2 salvias. It looks very bare and “new garden” in that area now but we have ordered 20 low growing euonymous to go round the edge of the bed and I’ll probably put some more penstemons in the middle.

My poor neighbours - wife came out of hospital at the weekend and yesterday husband was taken in again. They really go through it. One or the other always seems to be in hospital and, of course, the one left at home is constantly worrying about the one who is in. It must be so stressful for them.

OH is watching some noisy film on TV so I think I’ll either watch something on the iPad or have a read. Night, night all.

Hello all
Back home now, got here at 1.30 pm and son in law has already cut the lawn. It is all a bit of a mess out there so I need it to be dry next week please. it was sunny with clear blue skies all the way home and is still sunny here and 15 degrees. I have almost unpacked so many bits to put away.

Morning all,

Our Anng will be well on the road to home now and i hope they have a safe and holdup free journey.

Suns out here and its a beautiful morning but Iv'e not been out there yet.

Connie from Watsons rang to say my oil would be delivered today so I must go and move the car up the top so the lorry can get down here.

PC says 8 degrees and sunny so lets hope it stay that way as BIL is supposed to be coming today but I never really know when he's going to turn up. He told me last week he was having Thursday off and would come then but he could change his mind by now and as its a nice day he may go off with his camera over the moors. You just never know.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 19 Apr 2023 18:36

It sounds as though you have had a pleasant last day AnnG. Safe journey back tomorrow.

I hope the cream helps Mel. It’s good your mower’s back and you can get all your grass cut again. Wouldn’t you think someone, somewhere would have a plan or at least a note of where pipes and cables go? We had a similar problem last year when we needed to find out where some pipes were. Our house wasn’t built till 2009 but not even the Council’s building and planning departments could tell us where pipes were laid. In the end we had to pay for a man recommended by a local surveyor to come and carefully dig a deep hole next to our garage to find out what pipes, if any, were there.

What a performance with OH’s tablets Mandy? If it’s something he needs to take regularly the doctor must find him a substitute quickly. They can’t leave him without his meds. I picked mine up today and saw a lady I think of as the friendly, efficient assistant. She is often working in the pharmacist’s other shop so I don’t always see her but I always hope she’ll be there as she never gets the order wrong. I hadn’t seen her for quite a while and as I walked in she said “Hallo Mrs M…”. I said what a good memory she had to remember my name when she hadn’t seen me for quite a while and there must be hundreds of people passing through the shop each month. She said “I always remember the people who smile at me”. I felt quite flattered.

We’ve had a lovely day. It was dull, cold and very windy first thing but later the sun came out and it warmed up. After I picked up my meds we went to a garden centre near Braintree and I managed to get 3 tomato plants for £4.50. I just got cherry toms but 3 different sorts. Usually I do my own from seeds but I didn’t buy any seeds this year. I found an old packet with a few Gardener’s Delight seeds left in it and sowed those in a little tray but I think they were past it as only 1 germinated. I also bought a little solar light shaped like some sort of bug that you can hang from a shrub or similar. It was only £3 and I wanted some bits for a friend’s birthday so she will get that.

Then we went from there to Freeport just down the road. It’s one of these shopping villages. Shops close and others open. The Hotter shop recently closed down and I was disappointed about that as I’ve bought a couple of pairs of shoes there for about a third of their normal price. We had a good wander in and out of shops but I only bought a gadget that is supposed to make opening bottles and dealing with ring pulls easy. That’s for the same friend as the bug light.

Then we went to Zizzi for a meal. We had a voucher worth £49 that had been a present to the two of us so treated ourselves to a really good meal. I wasn’t going to have a starter but OH ordered garlic bread with cheese and caramelized onions and when it came it was nearly a meal in itself. So I had a couple of pieces of that. Then OH had a herby pork dish and I had chicken Milanese. They both came with spinach, rainbow heritage carrots in an assortment of colours and rosemary and sea salt fries. There was plenty of it as well. I would have liked a sweet but I was so full that I couldn’t even manage ice cream. With a glass of wine and a coffee each I just had to pay £10 on top of our voucher.

Now I must go and pop a birthday card in someone’s door. It’s only about a 15 minute walk there and back but I still feel so full up from my lunch that I’ll probably stagger down the road.

I hope you all have a good night and sleep well tonight.

I have just had an email telling me that the hose pipe ban will be carrying on from the 25th April. I did'nt know we had a hosepipe ban!!!! It dos'nt affect me anyway.

Also had the open reach man down here asking if I know where the cable comes into the house. I have nop idea and neither has he!!!! He has looked in most rooms and all round the bungalow and can't find it. I told him it came across from Hazel's on a pole to the top gate and he thinks it must go underground from there and may have to dig a trench down the garden becase they are doing away with the copper cable and replacing it with soemthing else. He did say it would'nt affect me if they can't find it.
