AnninGlos Report 1 May 2023 13:22

Just spent almost two hours in the garden. I have made up four baskets. I realise since I lost OH that the worst part of doing baskets is filling them not the planting as I only have a couple of trailing plants in each of mine I don't do the pack the plants in type. I am only doing five baskets this year so just one more to go. Well unless I spot more plants I fancy next time I get to a garden centre. Most of my time out there was trying to clear/tidy the large patch that is behind a trellis and in front of the greenhouse where the two large compost bins are. It was T's dumping ground and I have sort of followed on. Hoping to make it more attractive. Still a lot to do out there but I am tired now so it is time to stop. Brown bin day tomorrow, it is almost full.

Computer is telling me that it is raining off and on but it hasn't rained here yet so I have hung out 3 loads of washing. However, the sky has been very grey all day with only an occasional gleam of sun so OH is primed to shout if he notices it's raining and to dash out with me and grab everything in.

I'm not sure whether to try and do some more gardening this afternoon if it stays dry. I'm still aching from yesterday's stint but there is still a lot to do out there. As I was hanging out the washing I noticed a load of chickweed growing through the plants in one of the beds so that needs pulling up, though I've just seen in a YouTube video that we should be eating it. I'm more concerned with it smothering my plants.

It's looking very black out. I think I'd better go and see if any of the washing is nearly dry and get that in.

Good morning all

Lucky you to have sunshine yesterday Vera, hope that, unlike us you get two days running. It is bright here this morning with a bit of sun and 12 degrees so maybe I can do a bit more in the garden.

Mel that is good that you have got the mowers under cover.

Cleaned the big girls out this afternoon after BIL had gone. He did clear space in the leanto and now both the mowers are in there under cover which is good and they are not stuck parked on the road down to the bantam.

Robby is still only taking one worm away with him so I don't think the chicks have hatched yet. As soon as he takes more than one I'll know.

Sorry that some of you have had rain. It's been wall to wall sunshine here today and just about got to 16 degrees, which was a bit warmer than yesterday. With just a slight breeze from the south it was really comfortable.

I got carried away in the garden and spent two and a half hours out there though I am paying for it now with back ache and stiff muscles. It may not have done much for me physically but it's been good for me mentally. I feel happier now that I have got stuck into the gardening and can at least see I've made a bit of a difference.

What with gardening, cooking OH's favourite Sunday roast and doing a few other jobs, I didn't have the time or energy to walk down to the river and see how the swans are doing. The forecast for tomorrow is pretty much rain on and off all day so I probably won't go tomorrow either.

Better go and get in from the garden a load of plants I'm hardening off a bit. Now it's a bit warmer I've started putting them out for a few hours each day and then bringing them into the conservatory at night,

no sun behind clouds here Mel and it has splattered with rain again so definitely no gardening today. all next week looks similar too except for Wednesday when I can't do any gardening that gets me involved with a long job as I have a hair appointment at 1pm. I don't need to be tired as I have to walk round.

Brightened up a bit here this morning and it felt quite warm when i went out but now it has rained a bit but its still 13 degrees here too and you can feel the warmth from the sun behind the clouds.

BIL not come yet and I am wondering if he will now.

By9am it was overcast and raining. It is dry now but still very dull but it is 13 degrees.
I have put away the shopping and balanced the monthly accounts. Next job is to empty the airing cupboard and put away the clothes. If it is till dry I might see if I can do anything outside as long as it is not too wet where it rained earlier.

Morning girls,

Not so nice as yesterday here as its overcast and 11 degrees and pc says cloudy with a high of 14 degrees. #We had a little rain last night and I think it carried on through the night as it looks wet out there. So pleased BIL got all the grass cut yesterday.

Would have been my 54th wedding anniversary today if we had'nt divorced.

Nothing planned for today and BIL said he was coming today and we'd clear a space in the lean to for the mowers to go in there for the summer till we get the workshop cleared out for the winter.

Good morning AnnG and all

It’s much the same here AnnG. The iPad is saying the temp should reach 17 degrees which is warmer than yesterday. I might get a little bit of gardening done and hopefully fit in a walk. Otherwise it’s going to be a pootle about day.

AnninGlos Report 30 Apr 2023 07:22

Good morning all 9 degrees here (it went up to 20 yesterday). I am hoping it will be a day like yesterday which was lovely sunny and not too hot for gardening but warm enough to sit outside with a drink.
Tesco shop due this morning otherwise hopefully I can do a bit more in the garden.

Vera the nurse told me that after the next one it will probly go to annually.I suppose that depends what the Government's thinking is on the new variants.

It has been glorious here all day and it is 20 degrees here at the moment. I have just, for the first time this year, sat down in my special place with a cup of tea. I strted to see weeds so decide to come in but earlier I sprayed the weeds on that patio and washed off the chairs and table. I have done quite a bit today out there as well as doing a load of washing. I sprayed or dug up a lot of dandelions both in the lawn and the borders. I planted up a lavender I bought last week. I emptied out the 'table' that T made that has alpines in. The soil was tired and the plants had died I re-filled it with soil and grit and put three plants in. I finished off cutting a small trench along the edge of the wood holding the gravel bed to stop grass growing right up to the board as that is difficult to cut. I cut back a lot of honeysuckle and euonymus tendrils and branches that grow along the front of the greenhouse. That is the area where the compost bins are and I need to spend time there to get it tidy. I do hope we get this weather tomorrow as I want to pot up my baskets, I was going to do it today but decided all these other little jobs were more important.

What a beautiful day, :-). At least it is here. Sun’s shining, it’s 14 degrees and for a change it’s a breeze from the south instead of the north or east wind we usually get. It’s supposed to be even nicer tomorrow so I might try to get down to the river and check on the swans.

This afternoon I’ve pricked out and potted up 20 antirrhinums and there are at least that many left growing in the seed tray. I’ve also done a few other jobs in the garden. I’d like to have stayed out there longer but my back was starting to ache so I decided to call it a day.

We had our Covid jabs this morning and are already booked in for the next one, and a flu jab, on 30th September. That’s only 5 months away. At this rate we’ll soon be having them 3 times a year.

Hope you are all having a pleasant day and sleep well tonight. “See” you tomorrow.

Good morning all

Bright and sunny here this morning and the forecast is for a dry day. That will make a change. I’m glad it should be dry as we have to walk up to the doctors’ surgery for our next Covid jabs. It’s just a little sub surgery of the main one in town and has been used for jabs since Covid started. It’s very convenient for us and we walk if we can because the car park is minute. The appointment for both of us is 12.04 so we’ll be home by 12.30.

I haven’t got any plans for the day. I’m hoping to do a load of potting up this afternoon but that might depend on how much my arm is aching.

Time for a shower now and I must dig out a short sleeve top to wear to the docs. Have a good day everyone. Might bbl

Surprising how many meals are ‘something like’ something else isn’t it Very. Hope you enjoyed your something like Spanish omelette with something like salad :-D

Our photography meetings are all indoors in a Methodist church hall. Not always that warm but it was fine today as it was 17 degrees with a lot of sun today.

That is a nuisance. We’re you using a different card?

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 28 Apr 2023 16:01

i know how you feel Mel. It's so frustrating when you have a query and all you get when you phone is a d..n machine

I hope you had an enjoyable photography group AnnG. Were you indoors or outside taking photos? If you were outside I hope the weather was kind to you.

It rained most of the morning here. It has stopped now but is still very grey and cloudy. It's 14 degrees but it doesn't feel that warm. I did eventually stop shivering last night.

I slept a bit better as well so had a bit more energy this morning. I gave the upstairs en-suite and the bathroom a thorough clean and then washed their floors. We usually use a steam cleaner for all the tiling downstairs but as I had a big bowl of hot water with Flash and a mop I decided to do the kitchen area downstairs as that's the bit that always seems to get dirtiest. I should really have done the whole of the tiled area but it takes quite a while and time was getting on.

OH had a senior moment today. We both tend to get up around 7.30, OH usually a few minutes before me. This morning he woke suddenly thinking I had called out for him, realised he had been dreaming, glanced at the clock and saw it said 8.05. So he got up, went round downstairs opening blinds etc, went to the loo and got dressed. Then he got his juice and muesli ready. That's when he noticed the kitchen clock. It said 6.15! He'd misread the bedroom clock and was up much too early. He had his breakfast anyway and sat reading till I got up. It's very quiet at the moment so he is probably doing his eyes good again..

I need to have a think about something to eat tonight. Although Sainsbury's didn't bring me any eggs, I had a few and managed to get some more in the Co-op so I'll probably do something with eggs. I've got some leftover bits of veg so maybe some sort of Spanish omelette, with something like a salad.
