Good morning

Bright sunshine here at the moment though it’s not very warm yet.

We were lucky with the weather for our local fete yesterday. It kept coming over very black and the breeze got up but it stayed dry. In between there were little spells of sunshine which encouraged people to stay. The children were having fun at the sideshows and bouncy castle and there was a Punch and Judy show for them as well. I donated some plants, books and bric a brac and bought 3 books.

I’m glad you had a good journey to I of W AnnG. I hope the weather is kind to you while you’re there.

By the time he’d chomped away at your plants that little bunny must have had a full tum Mel. I bet he invited some of his mates to join him and they had a party in your garden.

I’m not sure what I’m doing today. I’ve the conservatory to finish cleaning and lots of other jobs but I hate doing h/w on a Sunday. I’ve been awake since 4.30 am though I didn’t get up till 6.30 am but I’m trying not to make any noise as OH isn’t up yet.

Glad the crossing was calm Anng.

I have had a neighbours son round here sorting my gun out for me. I tried to pump it up today and got the plug stuck in it and the lead to the pump came off. Tom sorted it out for me and showed me what to do in future. When the plug cam out I let all the air out of it that I had found so hard to put in!! He also zeroed it for me and set it up and made me shoot at a target and I got a bullseye first time and all th eother shots were around it so I should be set up now to get rid of some of these warren of rabbits I have around the garden. Oh used to shoot them in the early mornings but at the moment I am running alive with them.

Got here ok. Really nice place three big bedrooms two with en suites one with a bathroom that one is upstairs and we are not using that.

We got to the ferry a. Hour before which we could do. But we were then lucky as they put us on An earlier ferry. It was hardly rough at all and the boat was very stable we stayed outside as it was warm. Only problem was a dog that barked the whole way across. (45. Minutes) as we were on the island early, we went into Ryde and spent the afternoon ok. There it was lovely sitting by the beach watching the yachts I. A round the island race.

Thanks for todays hug Mandy and good luck with cleaning out that cupboard.

I had one Nemisia from last year and could'nt get any this year and it was doing so well covered in flowers and about a foot high. It is now about three inches high and its also now on a table.

Morning all,

A lot of cloud but the sun is trying to peep through ,hope the waters not to rough for your crossing Anng have a good holiday .

Hope your feeling a bit better today Mel here's my hug for today <3
Well one little bunny has had his fill of your plants little devil ,might be he has friends and relations thats he's invited over for a chomp .

Just having five minutes as I started hoovering and got to the shoe cupboard and decided to give it a clean out so there's stuff every where as its not just for shoes ,I found a tub with candles in it we keep for if the electric goes off ,they can go down the shed as I don't think we will use them now we havs a torch in the draw and a good rechargeable light, they are dangerous to use really as they could easily get knocked over.
Haven't found any money so it couldn't have been that mucky :-D

Right better get on as I've had more than five minutes ,Colin will be cracking the whip :-D

Yesterday I had a baby bunny on the decking and patio outside the back door. It actually went through the fencing I have around it it was so tiny. It has also eaten all the campanular on the rockery outside the kitchen window and today it has demolished my bunny rabbits on the patio, the big campanular, a small coloured heuchera that was doing well and the bunny rabbits that were self sown growing in the gravel which the bees love and a little rock plant that had 5 flowers on has also gone plue I am not sure what else at the mo. O and a 6 pack of bunny rabbits have all their top eaten out. So now I have a very colourless patio. Blast......

It is 15 degrees here this morning and pc says mostly cloudy but at the mo its quite bright.

Safe journey Anng hope the boat ride is ok.

Sorry you are feeling down today Mel. Nerve and muscle pain does seem to hang around for a long while and you feel it will never get better but it does eventually so hang on in there. Sending you a hug <3

AnnG, I am sure you will all be fine on the ferry. Modern boats are so well stabilised these days and it's quite a short crossing. You'll drive on and before you know it you'll be driving off again. Safe journey tomorrow.

You're right in saying that the little jobs do add up to quite a lot really. It's just that it never seems as though you are doing much. I'm making up for it today. I've been saying to OH that the conservatory needs a really good spring clean. It hasn't been done properly for ages so I made a start. I moved everything into the middle of the room, got my big, sturdy kitchen steps and brooms, brushes and the extending "feather" duster (i.e. man made fibre duster) and made a start. I got a bit dizzy constantly climbing to the top step and having to peer upwards with my head right back but I think I got most of the cobwebs and dead insects off the roof part. Then I did the same with the duster thing all round the windows, cills, skirting boards etc. I finished up by washing all the paintwork and cleaning the big windows along one side of the conservatory. That was enough for today so the paintwork and windows/doors on the other 3 sides will have to be done another time. I do tire much more quickly these days. I expect everyone's the same as they get older.

I've got quite a lot of china ornaments and bits and pieces on the cills around the conservatory so I've given them all a good wash this afternoon.

OH would help me if I asked but he's now busy painting the fence. It was just a side gate that ended up a sort of reddish colour. The fence is being painted Willow, the same as it is now so, with luck, it might only need one coat. Although our garden is quite small we own all the fencing round it and as well as round the garden it goes down 2 long sides of the house, so there is quite a lot to paint.

I've just had a sheet on my bed but I was a bit chilly last night. I had got a lightweight duvet handy but didn't bother to pull it up but I think I will tonight. At the moment it's 18 degrees and cloudy but it feels very muggy again.

Tomorrow is our annual fete on the rec. at the end of our Close. The ladies group I belong to is running the plant stall, a book and bric-a-brac stall and, as always, providing the refreshments. As I wasn't at the last meeting for once I didn't get a job to do. Lucky me. I have promised to take them down some plants and books so I hope I don't get roped in to help with something once I get down there. It looks as though it is going to be a little bit warmer than today but still be quite cloudy. The main thing is that it is supposed to be dry so with luck there will be a good turnout.

Well, I had better go and make the fence painter in chief a cuppa. Enjoy the rest of the day.

Morning Anng and all,

Dull and raining here this morning and its 13 degrees and only going up to 16 degrees later on.

Wel;l last day of June today and I really don't know where May and june have gone as they are my favorite onths of the year usually.

Not seen anyone since last week when Em came for eggs. Not even seen the postman just a delivery driver who called with a parcel yesterday.

Went to bed quite earlyish for me as I was really tired but I could'nt sleep cos my arm was hurting. You should see the state of the bed this morning I don't usually move once i'm in but the covers and pillows are all over the place this morning. Must have eventually dropped off and woke at 6.15 am for the loo and went back to bed as it looked so miserable outside after yesterdays lovely sunny day with a stiff breezey wind.

Feeling very down today.

good morning all. 13 degrees here so not that cool really although weather forecasts are a bit on the low side compared to what we have had. Looks like the temperature on the IOW next week will be no higher than 19/20. Still for once I will be hoping for it not to rain but cooler is ok. I had the duvet pulled back up last night and slept quite well. Was a bit concerned at the high winds forecast for the weekend so not really looking forward to the ferry trip across. I thought it was just me and maybe daughter as she is not a good passenger traveller but SiL apparently is not good with 'boats'.

Vera you said you had not achieved much but then you note you had cleared a lot of little jobs so presumably over all you did a lot. Nice to meet with friends and I am pleased you enjoyed your lunch.

Daughter did fix the bolt on the shed door for me yesterday so that was a good job done. I didn't have a long list for her this time. Having bought a new bolt for that door, we went out to the garage to charge up the screwdriver and found two other bolts out there. And then she used the old bolt re-positioned anyway. So I now have three spare bolts. I should have known there was one out there somewhere.

Not a good shopping experience at Aldi then Mandy. I suppose they are trying to make sure the stuff is kept fresh but it sounds as though it hasn't been thought through very carefully. I can understand why you are a bit peeved. I rarely shop at our Aldi because it has such a tiny car park straight off a main road that if you are unlucky you can find the car park full so you can't go in but you can't easily get back out on to the main road.

I'm surprised the doctor couldn't tell you last week that you had damaged a nerve Mel but at least you know now what the problem is. Try and do the exercises the physio gave you but do them gently and be careful using the arm. You don't want to aggravate it.

At last we have had rain. It was showers rather than constant rain but at least it was raining on and off from around midnight last night to midday today and the soil got a bit of a soaking. It's been dry and sunny all afternoon so pots are already drying out again.

I don't seem to have achieved very much the last couple of days. Yesterday we went out with our neighbours and didn't get back indoors till nearly 6. After we came back from our lunch together they asked us in for a cup of tea and the time just flew. It was a really pleasant few hours. We don't always see eye to eye and sometimes I feel I am treading on eggshells with them but it wasn't like that yesterday.

Today we had our usual Thursday coffee with friends. We meet around 11 am and anyone who's free and fancies a chat turns up. This week there were only 5 of us, last week there were 9. This afternoon I've been catching up on all sorts of silly little jobs that aren't urgent but have been hanging around waiting to be done.

It's not as hot as it has been but it's still quite warm for sleeping as it's still 19 degrees and a bit muggy. Oh well, here's hoping for a good night's rest for all of us. Sweet dreams everyone.

Morning all,
Been shopping and just calming down ,our aldi has been shut for nearly a week and they have changed it all round but the thing that really annoyed me was all fruit , salad stuff, cheeses cooked meat ,fresh meat are all now behind glass doors so everytime you want something you have to open a door and trying to see what is behind the door before you open it with the lights glaring on it is not very good ,plus you have to get hold of the handles that the world and his wife have just touched ,ohhhhhhh it just riled me , oh and if your a bit on ths short side no way would you reached the top shelf behind the doors

Suns out and its very muggy but we did have rain in the early hours and first thing so that watered the garden well.

Morning all,

15 degrees here and clody. It was a beautiful morning when I got up for the loo at 6. 52am and we had as pink sky last night so I thought it may have been a nice day today. We will see a bit later on I suppose.

Enjoy your garden centre visit Anng.

I remembered it was dustbin day today so got it out last night and did'nt put it in the long grass so they can see the bag.

He told me some exercises to do with turning my head and looking up and down and he felt around my arm etc and asked if I had pins and needles at all same as the doc last week and I did have them this week for a short while.

Mandy did you get the picture for your tree?

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 28 Jun 2023 18:49

When I did my family tree I found a great grandaunt Catherine Cudden buried in Ryde cemetery in 1887 on the isle of Wight she was only 46 ,someone had a photo of her in their tree so it was nice to put a face to the name ,I found a funeral report too .

Mel it sounds like it might take a while to heal so you'll need to be very careful what your doing so you don't aggravate it ,that was a quick appointment.

Just done the watering and it was spitting with rain ,we had a few spits this morning too ,tomorrow we should have rain during the day and I need to ho shopping so i might get wet .

I suppose he did actually tell you what was causing it but don't you wonder why all the bother of going there. surely the GP could do that.

Vera Saturday. Daughter and SiL are here now and it is raining, not a lot but at least enough to freshen things up.
