So if it is wrong for you to have him for the odd night, should I not have 2 of ours Friday evening till Sunday evening once a month?

Enjoy your evening ... they grow up too quickly

Go for it Joy
I used to do the same with my grandson, who only lives 10 mins away
As he got older he used to choose to come and stay with us at the weekends
(if I wasnt working)
My daughter let him do what he wanted to,not farm him out when she wanted to go out
It was his choice, and they both benefited from it
So did I
So we were all happy

I hope Stray enjoys her night in as much as you and grandchild will enjoy your time together.

I've not long had a phone call from me step-mum she is over the moon as in April she off to look after 1 of her grandchildren (all of 5mths) and then following that up with her elder daughters 2 children age 2 and 8mths.

You enjoy yourself and have a fun evening.

It's none of anyones buisness when you look after your Grandson, long as he is being well cared for which I'm sure he will be.

If his mum wants to go out and do pole dancing or go to a knitting circle thats still nobody's elses buisness..... as she knits him a jumper lol

Hello Joy.

I think the comments made were very unkind to all concerned. If you enjoy looking after your grandson - why shouldn't you - and he will gain so much for being given the opportunity to be able to do so. We all need time to ourselves and why should your daughter be any different.
Best wishes to you both,

Catie x

Thank you Robin !!!

I happen to know that Strays little boy is a happy, well cared for, and very well-adjusted little man....and a credit to his Mum. I just can't stand it when people make those kind of judgements without knowing the facts.

For what it's worth, I'll throw in my view before I get back to work.

I agree with Teresa. ( pick her up off the floor please someone )

If Joy's grandson is perfectly well cared for, which appears to be the case, then there is no reason why his mother should not have some time for herself.

I was once a single father for one day a week, and in my view any woman who can look after a child day in day out, as well as doing the shopping, washing, cleaning and all the other things that go with looking after a home deserves the highest accolade as well as time to recover.

A break from the children every so often is necessary for everyone's sake .............. including the beleaguered taxpayer who I understand Draco was so eager to protect.

Stray is a wonderful mum i am so proud of her

and she lives directly opposite me

so he comes and goes much as he pleases anyway

with supervision over the road

I dont' get why stray is being judged anyway, just because she's a single mum?

Married couples also have the need to go out and socialise, leaving their kids in the care of babysitters or grandparents, but I never see them being judged, it's always the single mums who are supposed to live like hermits.

Dear dear - don't you just luv it when other folk try to dictate how you lead your life???

Ignore them Joy/Stray - they are probably just consumed by jealousy that they can't enjoy the same pleaures - no doubt tied to the oven looking after kids while their hubby goes down the pub all night ..................

Young mums need time out, they need to be able to talk to other adults. I love my kids and really enjoyed it when they were little, but would have just loved to have had a spare hour or two to myself or be with friends.

She is one very lucky daughter to have a mum like you. My mother would never look after mine even for five minutes while I had a shower.

Good for you having such a close family. Enjoy your time with grandson.

I envy all of you.

Even better...nothing wrong with that at all....all mums need a break to be themselves in adult company.

Besides, it' not up to anyone else to decide what stray can or can't do with her own life, and that little one is lucky to have such a caring loving family around him all the time.
