can someone please tell me what it means if a thread is "stickied"?

TonyW

TonyW Report 2 Jan 2010 21:59

The email I received from Erica also stated the thread would be 'stickied' for two weeks, and that was dated Tuesday 29th.

For what it's worth, I've emailed GR to express my upset.

I really hope this is just a hiccough in their system......

Bob, I too looked for the funeral date and couldn't find it but noticed a post was deleted.

Bob

The day it was made a sticky GR said this is now a sticky & will be for 2 weeks

So i took it to mean from the day GR made it one

All those lovely messages gone - what a shame:-( However it doesn't take away from the fact that Jean was well loved and will always be remembered by her friends. If someone did report it then it doesn't change how we all feel about Jean and doesn't spoil our memories.

I can just imagine what Jean would have to say about this:-))

Hi Bob, Even if that was so, it was only posted after Jean passed away. So that makes 9 days which is not 2 weeks. xx

If they decided the sticky had to go why did they let my thread run ?

*~~*Posh*~~* Report 2 Jan 2010 19:52

The thread was posted after Jean had passed away and was not stickied until a few days after by GR, stating that is was stickied for 2 weeks. By my calculation it was stickied for about 4 to 5 days.
Even if it had been Unstickied by GR it should Not have been deleted. There was NO reason what so ever why it should have been deleted. I posted on it this morning and all was fine then. xx

Even if that was the case Bob & GR had unstickied the thread.
It would have still been on the board.

It's definitely not been up long enough. Also correct me if I'm wrong but Jean's funeral hasn't even passed yet.

iv just been told u can remove a sticky thread if your the originator, i didnt no that, but as lynda has sd it wasnt her,
back to gr

no bob lyndas, wasnt sticked till 2/3 days ago, it was up for a weel before that un stickied,
then gr stickied it with a post saying it wld be stickied for two weeks, two weeks have not passed,

unless 3 days is now 2 weeks?

Bobtanian Report 2 Jan 2010 19:07

Please correct me if I am wrong, BUT i am sure that the thread WAS stickied for a while BEFORE they(GR) posted that it was to sticky for two weeks.......if that was so, then the sticky had run its 14 day course......
but I think it should have stayed as a normal thread because of the info on the later few pages........

If there is a thread that GR are going to remove
why dont they email the person that put up the thread, BEFORE they delete it , at least then you would have a chance to talk to GR before they do it .
or is that asking to much of GR .

they told me the only thing they could do was
install the RR button which lets them see
the genuine reason for complaint
and a judgement could be made on the exact posting

But they could change their system on deletions...that doesn't need any software updates.....just reading the thread first. ;)

Oh drat Joy, I think I've eaten all the peanuts I had over Christmas & I finished the pistachios days ago.

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 2 Jan 2010 18:14

Lesley they are not going to install new software
if they are expecting to sell the site its not a viable proposition

maybe we should put an offer in while its going for peanuts
