Liz, I am not quite clear about the vitamin d you mention. Was it an injection of vitamin d, or tablets you have taken? I am certain my GP will not give me anything else, for before referring me to the clinic I have just attended, he said there was nothing more he could do for me.

I hope you have real success with your new growth!

Best wishes

Angel

Last autumn my doctor sent me for yet another blood test because of my constant tiredness and my hair falling out, and said it was now realised that lack of vit. d could cause problems so I would be tested for that too as well as all the other usual tests.
Lo and behold, results came back that I was low in vit d so she started me on tablets, but later spoke to the consultant husband of a new gp in the surgery and learned that a large injection of vit d could be more beneficial. I had that in October or early November and altho it has done nothing for the tiredness, as I said earlier, it seems to have started some hair growth off. Will get her to look when I go to see her again soon and make sure it is new growth but I don't think it is broken off hair or my parting would be even wider and thankfully at the mo, it isn't lol

I have just made an apptmt for next week at 5pm - will be a rush as I don't get out from my counselling till ten to and it's miles away, but as the receptionist said, it's the last apptmt and we all know my doctor runs very late by then so I should be able to get there in time.
Will let you know what she thinks about the stubby stuff!

Just to refresh this thread. On Easter Sunday I noticed some lumps on my scalp, which itched like mad. We were out for the afternoon, so OH examined them when we got home. Looks like psoriasis, he said. All I needed! Managed to get to see the GP on the Tuesday, who confirmed this. Now got Betacap to apply twice a day. It is working wonders, very fast stuff.

The only different hair product I have used is a hair spray (when I have washed my hair), couldn't believe the psoriasis, after the consultant said I had a healthy scalp.

Friend who is a hairdresser has told me to use cotton pillow cases, and not wear nylor near my head. She recommends Silvikrin hair spray.

Liz, how are you doing now?

Hi Angelsong, I am cross with myself, I saw your post earlier and meant to look out a letter I read recently in a magazine, about psoriasis on the scalp. It recommended a certain product and can I find the info, can I heck?
Maybe it was in a magazine I saw somewhere recently, may have been at the counselling place so if I can't find it in one of my mags. here will have a look on Monday. It was someone who was having just the same sort of problem as you.

My hair is still sprouting, I am sure it is thicker on top but still have a very thin patch on one side, a bit like a new baby gets when they sleep on one side all the time and the hair rubs away, but hoping it will grow more there too, very soon. Trouble is my hair looks messy as I have it all one length and the new hair sort of sticks out at the ends, I suppose it is growing through more like grey hair becomes, wirier etc.

Mustn't grumble, will try and find the info and let you know

Julie Ann and Liz, thank you for your replies. I have to have my bloods checked every six months, and thyroid is one which they check for, always negative.

The Betacap lotion is very effective. OH puts it on twice a day. There is just one small patch left.

Hair still very thin at the sides, so when , psoriasis is gone, shall go back to the Regaine, which the medical profession do not seem to think does any good, but my hair is definitely thicker on top.

Glad your hair is still coming through Liz.

All the best

Not posted on this thread for some time, but just a quick update. Watched an interview with Gail Porter a few days since, her hair has grown back, and I am thrilled for her.

My own hair is thickening up on the top, and curling again. I have been taking Vitamin C tablets, Omega 3 capsules and zinc. Even the girl who cuts my hair is remarking on the difference.

Hi Angelsong
So glad to read that you have seen some improvement in your own hair.
Long may it continue.

Myself.................. well the wig is wonderful. It is part of my daily routine now and I never have a bad hair day, you know when it lies the wrong way etc.
My daughter was married 3 weeks ago(where has that time gone ? ) and everyone said how well I looked !!! Some knew about the hair others just thought I'd a new cut or a new hairdresser.
It has been life changing and I am comfortable with it, though I do miss what I used to have.

I am back to my Dr on Tuesday and will let him see just how bad it has got since nobody seems to have any thoughts on why I am loosing it at all. Even with the thyroid problems.

Linda :o) XxX

Hi all,

I hadn't realised Gail P's hair has grown back, how lovely for her.

Glad your hair is returning Angelsong and pleased that you were comfortable in your wig, Linda. Do talk to your doc about vit d when you go back next week.

I am having a further vit d jab on Tuesday and am still taking the calcium and vit d tabs, new female doc says they are for maintenance between jabs and will keep me on 6 monthly jabs for the time being. I haven't had a chance to get my blood test done yet but that will show how things are too, doc said not to wait for that but to have another jab so that's what's happening.

My new hair growth is about 2-3 inches now, a bit curly at the ends as it has no weight to it so it sticks out a bit from my smooth if thin short bob style. I still have some thinner patches at one side, not the side I sleep on funnily enough but I went to a different hairdresser and she said she could see lots of new hair coming through on that side, just a bit slower than the rest. I definitely have a lot more hair on top so my parting isn't quite so wide now lol

Good luck to all suffering with this problem.

I am sure YCaz won't mind me saying that since I put her on to the vit d track and she was prescribed the tablets she tells me her hair is thickening up a bit too.

Despite being a Leo, I will never have a mane of hair but then I never did so will be happy with more bumfluff coming slowly and steadily lol
