YG Report 11 Jul 2010 20:56

Evening everyone. It's been another hot and sticky day today, although not as bad as yesterday. Plenty of rain to come overnight and all day tomorrow, so the grass and borders will be breathing more than a sigh of relief!

More smelling salts needed for LG when she looks in, as I am sitting watching the world cup final!!

AuntySherlock Report 11 Jul 2010 22:49

Hi YG Don't let her maj know but I also watched the soccer final. Well the second half of it anyway.

I have absolutely no idea what was happening. Some of the things they do especially like arguing with the umpire would earn our teams 50 metre penalties. And as for deliberately kicking the ball out of bounds. Bad move. Anyway it's all over. The Spanish team, who alarmed me with the way they were starting to take off their clothes, were quite happy with the win. Don't know if alarmed is the correct word there. Perhaps "oooooooh he wouldn't dare", would be better. The Netherlands just kept yelling at the umpire.

I am quite tired but we are making progress with the renovations. Having trouble removing the window with the broken glass. It is a casement window and we can't work out how to undo the hinges which anchor it to the wall. They sort of pivot on metal triangles with a domed nut on the top. Will ring the glazier this morning and find out.

Good to see RMS parents are recovering. Very lucky they managed to survive a head on collision.

Never thought I'd be offering you lot some of our rain. Heard the northern parts of England are going into water restrictions if you don't have rain soon. We have more rain forecast and it is still quite cold.

Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 12 Jul 2010 14:33

LOL Maz, did the gelignite do the trick?

Yeah, no problems with water shortage here, don't think we'll ever need to worry about that.

I watched some of the football as well, I don't know anything about the game but from what I could see...........the best team won.

YG Report 12 Jul 2010 17:10

RAIN!! It's been raining big time here today, but the garden is so pleased. Not really a good forecast for the next 2-3 days, so hopefully all the water will be soaking into the soil. It needs a really good drenching.

The best team certainly did win and LG will be doing cartwheels. Wasn't the scorer Fabregas, one of LG's toyboys from Arsenal .... even though he was playing for Spain!! Don't know why we bother having a team for England cos they are nearly all from other countries. No wonder we can't win ... all the best players are otherwise occupied playing for their own country!!

Hi all. Expecting wild and woolly weather today, sometime. Window repaired. OH managed to remove it. Back to painting cupboard doors.

Must get back to family history research one day. I keep looking at it and thinking. Not yet. Not yet.

I'll employ you to do my decorating too Aunty. I have loads to do LOL

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 12 Jul 2010 22:39

Things I have learnt while decorating the daughter's house.

1. She has inherited my perfectionism trait. It has to be done properly or it is done again.
2. Everything needs at least three coats of paint.
3. The list of tasks to be completed keeps growing.
4. The cost of doing these tasks apparently diminishes with the size of the list. Renovating damages the memory and the bank balance.
5. Ebay is a remarkable opportunity for sourcing much needed items. I feel so sorry for those people whose pre-loved furniture and fittings sell for a fraction of their true worth.
6. If you hit something with a hammer it will break. The cost of that breakage is generally more than if you had just painted over the object where it was.
7. Paint stripper takes the paint off everything.
8. If you lean on an item which has just been painted, the paint will attach itself to you.
9. Water based paint does not wash off human skin with water.
10. Paint drips always hide on the other side of the door.
11. If you fill a hole in the top of a door frame with paint, the paint will drip out onto the floor.
12. Paint rollers flick more paint than brushes. These flicks usually miss the protective paper or drop sheets.
13. Drop sheets are designed to be tripped over.
14. Little dogs love pinching the sandpaper, brushes, and any other items left within their reach.
15. The most heard phrase is, "I wish I had never started this!!"

Whoops nearly forgot.

16. Paint ruins clothes. It is not possible to paint without being painted. I am trying to wear one lot and wash the other and heavens I look so delightful when I need to pop into the shop on the way home or to get something for lunch.

17. Bunnings do not have a red carpet. And they really should just for when we visit!!

Mazfromnorf

Mazfromnorf Report 13 Jul 2010 06:14

morning all
my page has changed too along with the hot matches that method has changed slightly too
Aunty i like your list
to add to that you always see the bit you missed when wearing non painting clothes
our dog was a brilliant way of showing the colours off to those you were telling about decorating .
dont decorate with cats lol
